Chapter 2: The Sex Ed Pamphlet (worldbuilding notes)

Notes:

Thanks for checking out the world building, I hope you enjoyed the actual story!

Chapter Text

Overall omegaverse worldbuilding because I am weak:

Primary sex is the genitals one is born with. This determines alpha, beta, and omega.

Alphas have an external penis and testes, similar to amab genitals. Size and look is affected by genetics and hormone levels. They ejaculate and urinate through the penis. They can only get others pregnant. They experience a yearly rut during a mating season, similar to ungulates.

Betas are true hermaphrodites, meaning they can both be pregnant and get others pregnant. Similar to snails! They have an external penis in a size range from micropenis/matoideoplasty to average/large. They have a vagina, but it produces less lubrication on average and has less elasticity. These are affected by hormone levels and genetics. For example a beta with higher estrogen would likely have a smaller penis and more vaginal elasticity. Reproductive organs are all internal. They can ejaculate through the penis, but urination is done either through the penis or a urethra above the vaginal opening depending on individual makeup. They do not rut or heat, but instead have monthly fertility cycles like real humans or most mammals.

Omegas have genitals closest to afab people. They can only get pregnant. They have a clit and a vagina, although the words used can vary depending on the omega’s preference and gender identity. Clit size varies between small to metoidioplasty. They produce the most lubricant and have the most elastic vaginas, and urinate through a urethra above the vaginal opening. They experience a yearly heat during a mating season, similar to ungulates.

Just like in real life there are intersex people. If the difference is obvious at birth (for example external testes and a vagina) they may be assigned a sex closest to what they present as, or are considered intersex and may choose to keep that designation or change to one that better fits their identity as they age. If the difference becomes apparent later (such as someone with alpha genitals that experiences heat), they can choose their assigned sex then if they’d like. Intersex people in this omegaverse have varied opinions on designation, with the most common debate being whether or not they are variations of betas or their own fourth sex.

Secondary sex characteristics become apparent during puberty. Just like irl these are affected by hormones like testosterone or estrogen, and include things like voice changes, muscle growth, hair growth, and breast growth.

Gender is recognized as an identity that is represented and requested by the person. Their gender is (almost) always known on meeting someone because of introductions involving pronouns, scent or subvocal indications of certain gender or lack of gender, etc. It is dependent on their society. Children are referred to with the gender neutral they/them, or by their assigned primary sex of alpha, beta, or omega.

Each designation has instincts but just like with real animals and peoples they aren’t a solid rule, moreso expected development or traits. These include omegas having the urge to care for children or younger pack mates, betas being the go-between and ensuring all pack mates are happy and healthy, and alphas having the urge to protect their pack.

There are some expectations placed on each sex, but that is dependent on society and time in history. For example some societies may expect Alphas to handle food and physical labor while omegas handle community child rearing, and betas are the only ones allowed in government for their overall pack management nature. Just like in the real world, how everyone is treated and how they behave is unique and varied.

There’s no gender identity based issues (entirely just because as an author I don’t want it lol)

Notes:

Thanks for sticking to the end <3 Kudos, comments, and bookmarks are my lifeblood as a greedy little author. It lets me know you enjoyed, and want more of this in the future!
