Summary
She hated not being in control. From her medical work to her family affairs, Wen Qing never approached anything blindly. Every action had a purpose. All problems required a hypothesis. There was no time to waste.
Yet, she’s burnt herself to ashes, suffocated by formaldehyde and menthol. The eternal pyre illuminating the night through her veins was extinguishing. The people saw the flare and the flame. They oohed and ahhed at Wen Qing’s feats, ignoring the coals coiling inside a cage of her own doing. Wen Qing could only breathe in the smog for so long before it choked her out.
Yes, she’s a burnout, slaving away her steps on a count. Her life ticked away even when the stopwatch had already stopped. Her grasp on the finer things in life slipped like water between her palms.
“I can’t do it anymore, A-Ning,” she told her brother.
When Wen Qing has reached her limit, only Wen Ning knows how to calm all her storms.
