Kate blinked at this before glaring at Ace.

“I need you three to take statements,” Crowley explained. “If you manage to find the culprit, I’ll find a way to get Grim into the tournament.”
“Okay, I’ll help!” Grim exclaimed, his tail swishing back and forth excitedly. “C’mon, you two! Let’s get to investigating!”
“Grim, wait-and, he’s gone,” Kate huffed before turning to Crowley. “Did you really have to bribe him with that?”
“He’s out of his funk, and I make sure to never forget a deal,” Crowley shrugged. “If the culprit is caught, then he’ll get to play. Now, before you two go, here.” He handed both of them a cell phone. “I managed to obtain some phones for you. I already added my phone number to them, so if you’re in any trouble, don’t hesitate to call. I must be off. Make sure Grim doesn’t get into any more trouble.”
With that, he left a worried look on his face.

“Wow,” Kaitlyn frowned. “That’s a bit rude, isn’t it? I know I’m not much, but Kate scored the highest out of all of the Freshmen on the exams!”
“You’re not taking my brain, Azul,” Kate frowned, causing Azul to blink in surprise.
“I wasn’t going to suggest that,” Azul said, before he regained his composure. “I was going to say that if you wish for something big, then the collateral needs to be equal values. For example…you giving me the rights to use Ramshackle Dorm for my own needs.”

“Nine hours of work every day?!?” Grim exclaimed.
“And after dinner will be defensive magic training! Everyone eat and get ready immediately!”
Shocked agreements filled the air as Kalim trained his gaze on the trio.
“You three will also be participating!” Kalim ordered. “You’re in this dorm now too, got that?!?”
“Why us too?!?” Grim shouted.
“W-What happened to him?” Kaitlyn blinked.
“I’m not sure,” Kate frowned, her gaze wandering over to Jamil. “But there’s someone that I’m sure will be able to answer our questions.”

“You know,” Rook grinned. “If it’s hidden potential you’re looking for, may I nominate the last group?”
“Eh?!?” Vil startled, his eyes wide in surprise. “Those worthless spuds?!?”
“Let’s take this into account, Roi des Poison,” Rook held up a finger. “Say you polished them enough that they become diamonds. Diamonds so brilliant that they turn the eyes of everyone who passes them by. A tiara with a huge jewel on top, so to speak. I believe that it would look more promising compared to a tiara with little, dull jewels. Of course, the decision lies upon you. I don’t mind if you reject my idea.”
Vil blinked at this, his thoughts swirling around in his head.
“Still, I’m sure that you understand this the most,” Rook said. “Just a bit of retouching will not win against that brilliant Neige LeBlanche.”
At the mention of Neige’s name, Vil’s look soured, before he stood up determinedly.
“You’re right,” he declared. “Of course you are. This year’s Song and Dance Championship participating members will be…”

Rook just sighed, causing Epel to bristle.
“Don’t give me that look!” Epel yelled. “You’re the one who suddenly left, so I’d say we’re even! Even if you reprimand me, I ain’t goin’ home!”
“Non…I’m not mad at you,” Rook stated. “I’m just frustrated with myself because I underestimated your strong desire to help. I’ve said before that ‘Those who believe in themselves and in their friends are truly strong’. And yet…I kept you in the dark as I left by myself. Epel…your honesty in following your own heart is beautiful and strong. I am embarrassed that I lied and deceived my own heart. I am like you, Epel. I couldn’t sit around knowing that my own boyfriend is hurt and in pain. I didn’t want to involve my teachers and friends in my actions, but…”
