Summary
I straighten the sleeves of my new uniform—a stiff but slightly oversized black suit jacket with a camisole that sits a little lower on my chest than I’d like and matching black slacks, with a pair of black stilettos in my soft leather bag for when I get to the office. One of Mira’s old suit jackets, because I couldn’t bring myself to go out and buy my own. Because this is not where I was supposed to be going today.
While mom had prepared Mira and Brennan for a career in big law—at the massive international firm that bears her name—I’d tagged along with dad since grade school, learning how to help the city’s poor. I’d planned a career in nonprofit work, just as dad had, and had just started my bachelor’s degree in social work so that I’d be better prepared. I’d intended to spend summers as a legal assistant at various nonprofits during undergrad, then law school here in the Bay.
But then Brennan had some sort of breakdown and disappeared, and everything fell apart.

Summary
It’s been three months since the Barrens incident, as we’ve taken to calling the not-so-dearly-departed Aetos’s botched attempt to trade Violet Sorrengail to the venin in exchange for Navarre’s continued safety. Three months since that fucking rapist attacked Violet and tricked Xaden into throwing her out. Three months since she told him she wasn’t coming back.
Three months of Xaden Riorson in the worst mood I have ever seen him in. Which is really saying something, given that he is the broodiest motherfucker alive.

Summary
Lucy’s eyes blinked open once, twice, taking in the blurry figure of the boy at her bedside. But something was wrong. He was shorter than her Lockwood, stockier. She blinked again and his figures came into sharper focus. Ginger hair, blue-gray eyes. Not—
And then she remembered. Her home was gone.

Summary
She’d tried to argue with him at first, tried to make her case. Her Talent had gone dangerously awry. The Wintergarden house and Aickmere’s had been proof of that. She was a liability, a danger to the team. He’d said that himself. But she was so tired, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the conversation. She felt like she was sinking into water, his words increasingly muffled from the surface above. And every time she looked up, she saw that damned hollow boy grinning back at her. As their conversation ceded to Lockwood’s frantic monologue, she felt herself drifting away on a tide of exhaustion. Until he had struck at her deepest feeling, the one hidden in a place that she thought only she could see.
Nothing.
He’d got up at that point, thrown a few pound notes on the table and turned to go.
“I expect you to be out by noon tomorrow,” he’d said. “And don’t even think about coming back. As of now, Lucy, you’re dead to me.”

Summary
I was supposed to be a scribe.
For some reason, that’s the first coherent thought I have as I stand in the centre of a room that shouldn’t exist, in a palace that had been burned from the histories, staring at a man that was supposed to be dead.
Or: the one that continues immediately from the end of Fourth Wing, wherein Violet has an actually appropriate emotional reaction to the cumulative situation she finds herself in than the literal sack of potatoes we got in Iron Flame.

Summary
Four hundred years ago, Navarre leadership chose to not hide the existence of the venin. Instead, they aid Poromiel in the fight for the Continent.
We step into this alternate universe as Xaden, fierce rider and Duke of Tyrrendor, meets Violet for the first time. Without the secret of the venin, she excelled in the scribe quadrant to become its leader, and she journeys to Aretia to offer him something he never dreamed of. Her arrival and brilliant mind send him reeling, ensnaring him in a way that feels as if it was simply inevitable.

Summary
ALL THE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE BOOK.
Violet Sorrengail's world is shattered when she discovers everything she was taught to believe is a lie. Between discovering her brother still alive and the man she fell in love with to be the head of a much larger rebellion, a revolution, she decides to be on the right side of history, the side that defends the weak and fights against the Venin.
Now Violet needs to learn how to navigate Basgiath War College as a second year with stakes higher than ever, protect the ones she loves, and sort out what to do with Xaden Riorson, the man who broke her heart but still very much owns it.
Like everyone else who’s read this book, I’m still suffering from the hangover that came from finishing it. Attempting to work out the hangover by taking a stab at what happens next.
Picks up right after Brennan is revealed to be alive. This fic is intended to run until Iron Flame comes out in November. I own nothing. I’m just here to kill time till November :)

Summary
The first not-quite-morning after with Violet.
.
Even before the war, before the unfathomable loss of—everything, Xaden Riorson did not know peace.
At least not, perhaps, until now.
