“My desires will never be hidden from you,” Mydei murmurs against Anaksa’s lips, just a few months later, when he breaks the news to him. It’s terribly sweet, Anaksa thinks smugly to himself, even as he chases the warmth of his husband’s lips when the other man tries to lean back.

Summary
Anaxagoras and Mydeimos wasted no time beating around the bush. They'd been interested at their first meeting, and quickly allowed themselves to be swept up in each other's feelings. This, Anaxagoras believed, was the beauty of being straightforward. You got to maximize your time with your beloved, and there was no need to tiptoe around any potential landmines around the person you trust most. No secrets, no awkward silences, just pure, mutual understanding.

“Yeah, and I'm excited to meet them too, but after that!” Is this a translation error? A cultural miscommunication? How is Rocky not getting it? “You're partners. They're not going to want some alien around while you're, like… going on dates and all that.”
“Does not mean no time for Grace.” Rocky’s starting to sound frustrated. Part of me feels bad, but the rest is just as frustrated. “Why think this, question? On Earth, just abandon friends when have mate, question?”
It's so clearly a rhetorical question, to which the answer is obviously supposed to be no, of course not. I freeze up anyway.
