Work Text:

“Normal people are boring” he says, breaking the silence between them. However, he isn’t aware of what he just said, he’s too self-absorbed that he has lost track of where he is and with whom he is.

His green eyes are fixed on the half-eaten hamburger he holds in his hands and it seems he’s judging it by the way he’s looking at it.

His companion has stopped eating his own hamburger after hearing what he said, but Izuku’s still lost in thought and he hasn’t noticed that a pair of blue eyes that belongs to the professional hero Lemillion observe him with interest from behind his mask.

“Why do you say that?” the deep voice of the young man sitting next to him on the patrol’s hood brings him out of his thoughts.

Startled and embarrassed Izuku’s cheeks burn while holding the other's sapphire gaze, did he just think aloud? The attentive look of the hero pressures him and he’s glad that they are the only ones there, he wouldn’t want to listen to the noise of his coworkers, who perfectly know his feelings towards the young hero.

“No... well...” looks down at his food, nervous, not knowing what to say. He usually doesn’t talk about that, with anyone.

It has been difficult for him to grow up in an environment like that, full of people with quirks and having to give up his dream of being a hero because he doesn’t possess any of those incredible abilities. He failed the entrance exam to the prestigious U.A. and the rest of the high schools destined to the education of future professional heroes. It wasn’t as if he didn’t have enough knowledge or conviction, he just failed the practical tests because he had no quirk, as simple as that.

Remembering those days makes him to be ashamed of the teenager he was.

“You say that because you’re normal” Lemillion suddenly says, “but you’re not boring at all, Midoriya.”

Izuku lifts his gaze and looks at the blond again, who has already finished with his hamburger, sees him get up and can barely see his eyes behind the mask because of the sun's reflection in it. Those words are totally unexpected for him and he can’t help the blush on his face, which has spread to his ears and he begs that the other doesn’t notice.

“I'm glad t-to hear that, Lemillion” he stutters at first and feels a drop of sweat running down through his neck, "but why do you think that?"

He sees a smile on the lips of the tallest and it makes his heart skip a beat.

“Because you’re one of the most dedicated policemen with whom I have worked” little by little Mirio’s words evoke a feeling that squeezes his heart, “if you ever take Tsukauchi’s position I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“Eeeh?! No, impossible!” nervously takes off a hand from his hamburger and waves it emphasizing how absurd this possibility seems to him, “I wouldn’t...” blushing, Midoriya lowers his eyes and shrugs while covering his face with his arm, hiding from the hero's blue gaze.

“And because of that.”

That?, repeats and after finding no logic to what Togata said he looks up only to find the masked face of the taller too close to him, the blond has leaned in front of him and the distance between their faces is less than that anyone would find comfortable. Quickly his cheekbones turn red and he knows that now he can’t hide it.

Lemillion laughs and without moving a single inch he continues to speak. "All those reactions make you very interesting, Midoriya.”

What?

From the peculiar murmur that he does when he concentrates, to that striking movement where he tries to hide behind his arms, Izuku finds them annoying actions because he simply can’t control them, and now the blond tells him that actually these particular involuntary reactions make him unique? What he should think about that?

“What are you saying?” embarrassed Izuku turns to his left side and positions his arm at the height of his nose in order to hide his flushed cheeks.

“In fact they’re lovely” the breath of the taller touches his forearm and involuntarily he flinches.

“Are you... listening to yourself?” he looks at him out of the corner of his eye, incredulous at what the hero says.

Mirio laughs and moves a couple of inches closer to his face “Of course.”

The young hero begins to remove the mask that covers his face at the same time he takes Izuku’s arm by the wrist and makes him lower it.

Midoriya doesn’t know what he's doing “Lemillion...” but he's more concerned about the fact that someone could see the hero’s face.

“Nobody is watching” he assures him.

And before he can confirm his words the blond kisses him.

Stunned, he lets go of his hamburger and drops it on the concrete floor, where it's forgotten, under them. Izuku opens his eyes astonished and scared about the possibility that someone comes and sees them he pulls back, breaking the contact abruptly.

He covers his mouth with one of his hands and with the other he covers Lemillion's face.

"See? Cute" The hero's voice sounds muffled behind his palm.

He isn’t able to answer anything and becomes smaller in his place, maybe his normality isn’t so bad after all.

I need to work more with them... but I just don't know what to write ;A;
