Work Text:

For Tsukishima, these evenings with the second lieutenant are mostly something to pass the time, or at least he tells himself that. For the times when there’s nothing urgent to handle or nothing to happen the next day, or after that. What said lieutenant thinks about their situation, he doesn’t know and doesn’t want to ask, even if he is curious.

Anyone with eyes (and ears) knows of Koito’s utter and obsessive infatuation with first lieutenant Tsurumi and no one can exactly disapprove. After all, what is a little “hero worship” between a high ranking officer, who is also a decorated admiral’s son, and his superior and first lieutenant? And what if that young second lieutenant regularly invites his sergeant into his quarters in the evening? As air headed, immature and single minded the younger man could be, as far as bed partners go he couldn’t really complain about the second lieutenant.

The second lieutenant usually takes him hard enough for his head to swim pleasantly and his toes to curl but he’s not selfish enough for it to hurt. Today, the hard grip the younger man has on his hips contrasts oddly with the sweet way when he gasps and pants quietly, how he gently rests his forehead against his own. They rarely do it like this, sticking to hands and mouths mostly and kissing only when Tsukishima initiates it, but the younger man seems to want to indulge him by drawing it out.

Something feels different today.

At first he thinks he imagined it, but the fervent, whispering gasps of his first name momentarily makes him freeze up in shock.
“Hajime, you’re so good, is it good?” Strained and breathlessly, but it’s there. The younger man doesn’t even notice his distress, just keeps murmuring and rolling his hips into him at an almost lazy pace. He momentarily let’s himself get lost in the sensation, despite the initial shock.

But the younger lieutenant keeps calling him by his first name, almost like a lover would. He's never done that before.

‘Shut up shut up SHUT UP’ is all he can think and grabs the other man by the hair and pulls him down into a frenzied kiss. The second lieutenant makes a delighted noise and deepens the kiss. It’s not skilled or pleasant but it stops the younger man’s incessant babbling. At this point he just wants to come and go back to his room to sleep so he takes himself in hand and strokes in time with the second lieutenants rhythm, who keeps panting into their sloppy kisses.

Second lieutenant Koito apparently gets with the program and slips one hand from his hips to cradle his lower back, changing the angle and the pleasure moves into something harder and deeper and it forces, admittedly, embarrassing noises out of him. He braces his other arm above the sergeant's head to lightly cradle it and it’s such a loving gesture it almost makes him sick to the stomach. The second lieutenant is whispering his given name again between messy kisses but the angle is too good and everything is sweat slick and hot and his head is swimming again, the momentary shock over his name almost but not quite forgotten.

He grabs at the second lieutenant’s hair again and grips his straining biceps wrapped around his hips as the younger man’s rhythm grows less controlled and his kisses travel lower, nuzzling first at his chin and beard and then down, against the racing pulse point on his throat. He distantly thinks how people might hear, must know from the indecent sounds they’re both making now what is going on when he goes to second lieutenant Koito’s room sometimes. The tight feeling in his gut and lower quickly makes him lose his dark train of thoughts. The younger man almost draws him into his lap with a hard thrust and comes suddenly with a breathless gasp. He makes himself climax almost in time and his mind goes blank.

He pushes the younger man off him when he can feel the second lieutenant start lightly dozing as he holds him afterwards in an almost loving way. The only response he gets is a slightly annoyed and unhappy noise when he gets up.

As he’s buttoning his shirt again he says, without turning around, “Don’t call me by that name again, sir”. All he receives from the younger man is a confused noise so he turns around slightly on the bed and repeats “Call me whatever you want, sir, but don’t call me by my first name. Please.”. He doesn’t want to argue or wait for a response so he gathers his tunic and boots and leaves the confused second lieutenant in his bed, in his room that still smells of them, of what they did.

He doesn’t want to go down that memory lane again but all he can think of when he hears his first name is her. The way she cheerfully called him over and comforted him when they were children. Small and scrappy and outcast by whatever made them different. The first time she said “I love you”. The way she said his name and told him to come back whole and healthy and marry her, to finally leave that damned island. How his father sneered her name in disgust, alcohol slurring his speech.

His encounters with second lieutenant Koito are supposed to be nothing more than a liaison, just release and no emotions. He doesn’t want to hear him say his name and remind him of all these things again.

He’s wandered outside the barracks now. Maybe this time the cold night air will clear his head better than sharing his superiors bed.
