Notes:

Hello! I have a new fic idea and I wrote it, I blame the fact I was watching the Shield hero and was reading another crossover like this and I love and well. I have been working on this and It is so much fun.
So, this is my second cross over, and this is a side fic, so just a quick notice for everyone...This doesn't have a schedule and will be updated when I can be bothered too.
But, I have 3 chapters done, and if this gets enough interest I might just post another chapter today.

I do want to thank Darklion for saying I could write this as it was their fic that inspired me. This fic should have an inspired by thing with the fic, I hope so. You guys should read it, it is good!

I hope you guys all enjoy this anyway!

(See the end of the work for more notes and other works inspired by this one.)

Chapter Text

The Midoriya’s were a small family of two, just mother and daughter. And whilst things may have looked sweet on the outside, inside it was dark. A place of nightmare for the little girl. Izumi had been diagnosed as quirkless when her quirk failed to appear at the age of 4. Her father soon left, and Inko began to take out all her anger on the child that had no control over the fact she was quirkless. Her mother made sure to tell her it was all her fault. Izumi kept her head down and hid whenever she knew her mother angry, which was all the time. Day care was no better, everyone bullied her, classmates and teachers. Her old best friend, Bakugo Katsuki, who she lovingly called Kacchan, beat her up. She was in constant pain. But she was shake it off, All Might wouldn’t cry! A hero would keep smiling to fight off the darkness! And that is what Izumi did, despite the hell of her life, she smiled as if everything was fine, if the world was perfect.  But, she didn’t know there were people on her side, people who were documenting every bit of abuse she went through, waiting for the time Midoriya Inko stepped out of line, waiting for the right time to save the child from falling like those who were born quirkless in this time.

~*~*~*~

That day came, one Saturday, Inko had dragged her daughter out of the house, Izumi doing her best to keep up with her mother’s long strides. And then it happened, Inko had stopped suddenly, and Izumi accidently ran into her leg.

“Oof.” Izumi landed on the ground, she looked up see Inko glaring down at her, Izumi felt fear spike through her, and in front of everyone, Inko began to berate her, put her down. Saying how it would be better is someone quirkless like her never existed. And when Izumi didn’t make any sort of noise or movement, not reaction. Inko raised her hand to strike her daughter. Izumi whimpered, raising her arm to defend herself from her hand, she felt something inside her, and then the sound of something hitting a metal object, and then her mother cried out in pain. Izumi peeked up, finding her arm above her face, and a small shield on that arm. Her eyes widened. Was this his quirk? But the doctor said she was quirkless… where they wrong?

“What the hell…” Inko glared down at her daughter, furious. Izumi crawled back, terrified. The people around them were watching in shock, but before Inko could reach for her again, she was wrapped up in a white binding.

“Not sure what you thought was going to happen by abusing you child in public.” A voice said, Izumi looked up and gasped. There was a young man, dressed in black, yellow goggles that had an eerie red glow behind them. Izumi knew who this was. Eraserhead, an underground hero, and graduate from U.A high school. “Let me guess, you didn’t think a hero would be nearby, and thought you’d get away with it? The detective was right about a possible abuse case of a quirkless child. Did you know that is a crime?” Inko was seething in rage.

“She ain’t quirkless, look at her!” Inko yelled.

“You mean the quirk that just manifested? That manifested after the verbal abuse you gave her, the one that manifested whilst she shielded herself?” Eraserhead asked. Inko was fuming, she struggled. “There is no point struggling, I was on the phone with the detective and caught everything on camera. There is no running. And everyone else should be ashamed for not helping.” Eraserhead glared around the people that were still watching the event. Izumi got to her feet, tapping the shield on her arm, confused by it. “Stay there kid, don’t wonder off okay?”

“Okay Mr. Eraserhead.” Izumi nodded, He seemed a little surprised she knew who he was but remained quiet about it. It wasn’t long before the police showed up. Detective stepped out of one car, Izumi gasped. She recognised the man who had visited their school to speak to her, the only person she had told everything too.  He glared at Inko, before nodding at the other officers.

“Take her away.” He said, Inko began shouting again, Eraserhead freed her from the binding, and the officers handcuffed her and took her away. Her shouting now directed at Izumi, stating the child would regret being born. Izumi froze and darted behind the hero, clutching his trouser leg, knowing he would keep her safe. Detective Tsukauchi sighed heavily, before making his way over to Izumi. “Hello again.” He smiled.

“Hi…” Izumi waved.

“I was told you got your quirk today. Can I have a look?” He asked, Izumi held out her arm, showing him the shield. It was pretty simple, silver in color with a green circular gem in the centre. “That is impressive.” The detective turned her arm around. “Seems like it part of your arm, but unaffected by your clothes.”

“Wow… cool.” Izumi gasped, before jumping a little as a screen came up.

“What’s wrong?” Detective asked

“There’s a screen.” Izumi muttered, raising her hand and pressing something on the screen, she jumped again as it changed. “Ohoo.”  Eraserhead had a small smile on his face, the detective smiling.

“How about you come to the station for a bit and we can figure out your quirk there?” He offered

“Am I in trouble?” Izumi asked, Eraserhead  could hear the pure innocence in her voice, and it made him question how that was possible with everything she had been through.

“Not at all.” Tsukauchi smiled, he held out his hand. Izumi happily took it, Eraserhead went with them. In the car, Izumi was pressing different things on her screens. Her eyes alight with curiosity as she explored her quirk. Eraserhead wondered what it was like for someone who was told they would never get a quirk to suddenly manifest one.

~*~*~*~

“I have stats!” Izumi giggled as she sat on a soft chair in a nice office, Eraser and Tsukauchi were at his desk, discussing what to do. They looked over at her.

“Stats?” Tsukauchi asked

“Attack, defence… speed.” Izumi muttered. “It’s like a game!” She giggled, before gasping. “I have shield skills… or are they new shields… can my shield change?” She gasped excitedly. The adults smiled softly at her soft mutterings.

“What’s going to happen to her now?” Eraser asked, the detective sighed.

“Naturally she would go into foster care. But I am not sure if I trust the system enough with her.”  Tsukauchi said

“What of my boyfriend and I took her for a while?” Eraser asked. “I can be there in the morning for her, and he can be there at night. We can work around our jobs to give her the safe place she needs. And we can help with her new quirk.”

“If you are willing to do that, you can take her with you today. Of course, there will be a few things you need to sign.” Tsukauchi grabbed some papers from his draw. “Just get these to me as soon as you can.” Eraser took them, they were emergency fostering papers, these ones specially designated for a hero foster parent.

“Of course.” Eraser nodded.

“Midoriya?” Tsukauchi called to Izumi, she tapped her invisible screen and looked up.

“Yes?” She asked

“You are going to be staying with Eraserhead for the time being, is that okay with you?” Tsukauchi asked, Izumi beamed.

“I get to stay with Mr. Eraserhead?” She beamed, Tsukauchi smiled.

“Yes, be sure to behave for him okay?” He told her.

“Yep. Thank you for helping Mr. Detective!” Izumi smiled, she got off the chair as Eraser stood, he held out his hand, she took it and waved bye to the detective. Tsukauchi waved back, he was hoping she still wanted to be a hero, he had a feeling her quirk had the potential to be something great.
