Work Text:
Junghoo has always been a light sleeper. It was a blessing when Yoonji bought the blackout curtains, because the sun would wake her up on their lazy mornings in bed. It was rough to have an apartment when she could hear if the neighbors stayed up late. Even Yoonji's dog sneezing would wake her up.
Junghoo has only one moment she doesn't mind being woken up during.
Yoonji's dog is afraid of thunderstorms, but likes to curl up in bed with them when it drizzles. And that's how Junghoo wakes up today, to soft pattering on their window, Yoonji curled up beside her with her dog in between them. Junghoo watches Yoonji's face. It's a surprising transformation that only she gets to see, to witness all the stress from her girlfriend's day be wiped off of her face. She can still see a little residue from her girlfriend's face mask that she missed. Junghoo caresses her cheek and then rests her hand on Yoonji's arm, tracing patterns absentmindedly. Junghoo presses close, kisses her forehead, and gets up as softly as she can.
She puts on her robe- her last gift from Yoonji- and pads out into the main room of their apartment. She opens the door to their balcony and sits in her chair by their plants. The entire wall is overgrown with all of their assorted plants, but the edge is just out of reach from the rain. It's a morning ritual for the two women to tend to them before getting ready for the day, but Junghoo takes care of them now so that her partner can enjoy her sleep a little longer.
Junghoo drinks her tea in the kitchen, takes her pills, and makes Yoonji's iced coffee in the special cup to keep it chilled. She places the cup on Yoonji's bedside table and crawls bedside her girlfriend, taking up the middle space since their dog took Junghoo's warm spot when she left. She cuddles up to Yoonji and waits for the soft rhythm of the rain to lull her back to sleep.
