Work Text:
“Saiki!” Toritsuka cried out, gasping for air as he yanked open the door to the classroom. “You’ve got to save me,”
Saiki looked up from his work, having been making the most of the short break between classes, and stared pitilessly at his purple-haired friend.
“Why,” he asked, his tone making it appear more of a statement than a question, and Toritsuka stared back at him in exaggerated desperation.
“Because!” he exclaimed, dragging himself into the classroom and onto the front of Saiki’s desk. It looked like a great effort.
“Because they will kill me,” he whispered loudly, and right on cue, a tall girl skidded in through the door. Toritsuka froze as soon as he heard the footsteps approaching the door, and threw himself down on the floor under Saiki’s desk, trembling as he tried to tuck his limbs in far enough to not be visible.
“Good,” Saiki responded to Toritsuka, not bothering to make it appear like his mouth was moving as he spoke, and Toritsuka withered underneath him.
I’m your friend! I’m your best friend! You need me! He called out mentally, and the tall girl took a step inside.
“Anyone seen a purple-haired pervert?” she growled out, staring at the half-full room, and Saiki took a moment to ponder his choices.
On the one hand, Toritsuka probably deserved it. On the other…no wait, there was no reason to protect him.
Unfortunately for the girl, and luckily for Toritsuka, she decided to take the general silence as a ‘no’, even though had she walked any closer, she probably would have been able to see his pathetic hiding spot under the desk.
“Ugh,” she grumbled instead, and turned and walked back out the classroom.
“Phew, that was close,” Toritsuka grinned, crawling back out and sitting on Saiki’s desk. He blinked, and scowled as he realised that the other boy was sitting on top of the work he was trying to do.
“Get off,” Saiki said instead of a real response, and used his powers to shove Toritsuka a bit, not enough for anyone to notice, but enough to overbalance him and sending him crashing to the ground.
“Saiki, don’t you love me?” Toritsuka moaned, rubbing his arm sadly as he sat up on the floor.
“No,” Saiki replied without hesitation, and Toritsuka’s puppy eyes became more pronounced.
“You’re so mean to me! I’m gonna go tell Auira,” he whined, and Saiki raised an eyebrow, writing down the next set of answers on his worksheet.
“Please do,” he retorted, and Toritsuka abandoned his position as he realised it wasn’t working.
“But I want to hang out with you!” he grinned, standing up and leaning over Saiki, as though trying to distract him from his work.
Saiki didn’t even blink.
“You know, you look so cute when you’re annoyed at me,” Toritsuka flirted quietly, reaching out a hand to twirl innocently with Saiki’s pink hair, fiddling with a strand by his ear.
“I’m always annoyed at you,” Saiki put in, and Toritsuka smirked.
“Guess that’s why you’re always cute!” he winked, sticking his tongue out to the side as he shot finger guns at Saiki.
Saiki’s other eyebrow rose to join the first one.
“I’m not giving you answers. I’m also not going to hang out with you to stare at girls’ panties,” he told the purple-haired boy, who puffed out his cheeks and flailed his arms.
“Waa, that’s not what I’m trying to get you to do,” he complained, leaning over Saiki’s desk again and smiling up at the pink-haired boy’s blank face, watching his eyebrow twitch in annoyance.
“What are you doing,” Saiki asked, not really that curious, but going along with Toritsuka’s games like he always did. He did enjoy messing with him.
“What, am I not allowed to flirt with my boyfriend?” Toritsuka winked again, pulling a pose that he probably thought was sexy.
Saiki thought it looked stupid.
“No,” he said instead, and watched as Toritsuka’s head slipped off his hands and onto his desk with a loud thunk.
“Ooh, I know!” he cheered instead, rummaging through his pockets and coming out with a packet of coffee jelly. Saiki’s attention was immediately diverted.
“You can have this…if you follow me!” he told Saiki, who looked down at his work and considered. They only had about five minutes until class, but this wasn’t due for a week anyway….and coffee jelly…
“Fine,” Saiki sighed, putting down his pen and following Toritsuka out of the classroom, but pretending not to know him as the taller boy danced his way down the corridor.
He knew that they were headed to the roof though, since telepathy made anything like a surprise impossible, so it really was fortunate that Toritsuka wasn’t the type to be anything but blunt and honest. It wasn’t something that Saiki himself was, but he did appreciate it in others. Life was easier when he didn’t have to worry about people trying to lie to him.
“Here we are!” the purple-haired boy beamed, opening the door to the roof chivalrously, and Saiki rolled his eyes as he walked past, not bothering to thank the other for holding the door open for him.
It was just done to annoy him anyway.
“What, not even a thank you?” Toritsuka pretended to be sad, but Saiki could see the mirth dancing in his eyes, so he didn’t bother pretending to care in return.
“You’re so mean, Saiki. Even when it’s just the two of us…you know you don’t have to pretend,” Toritsuka murmured, coming close and wrapping his arms around Saiki to whisper into his ear.
Saiki shivered slightly at the sensation, moving his hands up to return the hug very slightly, and burying his slight smile in his boyfriend’s shoulder. He wasn’t the type to enjoy public affection, but it was nice to be able to stand with Toritsuka like this, especially now that they were mostly in a private setting.
“We have to get back to class,” he told Toritsuka, who frowned (for real this time).
“Ugh, I wish we didn’t have to,” Toritsuka replied honestly, and Saiki shrugged in response.
“If we didn’t have class, then we could do this…” Toritsuka trailed off suggestively, pulling his head back and leaning down slightly to press his lips against Saiki’s. They were warm and soft, so Saiki allowed him to, not really feeling any thrill from it, but enjoying the little intimacy more than he would admit.
After a moment, they broke apart again, and Saiki took a step away from Toritsuka.
“Let’s go,” he said, and Toritsuka laughed joyfully, pulling the coffee jelly out from his pocket and holding it in front of Saiki.
“I think I’ll give this to you later,” he teased, sliding his hand into Saiki’s as he opened the door, and the two of them walked back down the stairs.
“…Okay,” Saiki muttered in response, looking away firmly, and letting go of Toritsuka’s hand.
I’ll see you after school, babe. Toritsuka thought at Saiki strongly, and the latter repressed a smile as he read the message, not replying since they really did have to get to class.
Some days, he wasn’t sure how this had happened. Most days he was just glad it had.
Not that he would tell anyone that.
No, this was a thing for him, and him alone.
(And occasionally Toritsuka. But Saiki was learning to be okay with that).
