Work Text:
It was a snowy day in Seoul, South Korea and Kim Namjoon and his group of 6 friends: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook were hanging out in Namjoon’s house. They had been banished from the living room by Namjoon’s parents, and took up residence in the spacious finished basement. It was white in color and 7 or 8 feet tall. The floor was carpeted, and had loads of blankets, pillows, bean bags, and other various items that the boys had brought down with them. There were also a few couches scattered around the room, and a big tv on the north wall. On the west side, there was a small kitchen and bathroom, so the boys had no reason to head upstairs. Currently, they’re in a small side room that has a few games in it, such as air hockey and Just Dance.
“IT SLOWED DOWN AGAIN HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!” Seokjin shouted, staring in disbelief as the maknae was playing a song on Just Dance. “Hyung, I think you just stink at dancing.” Jimin said. “Yah! I am the best out of all of you, how dare you say that!” “Tell that to your score of 500” Taehyung said with a laugh. Seokjin set a glare at the younger and opened his mouth to shout again when there suddenly came a loud crash in the main basement area, followed by more smaller crashes and bangs. The boys go out to investigate, save for Jungkook, who was still doing the song. “How in the world…” There were shelves along the walls of the south wall, full of brick-a-brack, but now they’re collapsed on the floor, with a stunned looking Namjoon staring at the felled shelf. “God of Destruction strikes again,” Jungkook, who had finished the Just Dance song, said in a comically deep voice, causing himself, Taehyung, and Jimin to start laughing. “Aish, Hyung,” Yoongi said, shaking his head. “What did you do this time?” Seokjin asked. “I was just… trying to… grab this.” Namjoon said, holding up a book. Then Seokjin descended upon him, slapping his arm, “Your *slap* friends *slap* are *slap* here *slap* no *slap* reading!” Namjoon, rubbing his arm, said. “It’s for my dad though.” Seokjin freezes but then smiles sheepishly, “Whoops, my bad.”
Namjoon goes upstairs to give the book to his father. While up there, he finds out the snow storm had gotten horrible. His father says he has already contacted the parents of the six boys downstairs, saying that they will stay the night. Namjoon nods in response and heads back downstairs. The boys are all watching a movie on the tv and Namjoon goes to sit by Seokjin. “Guys,” he says. Everyone’s attention goes to the boy and he tells them they have to stay the night for the snow storm is too dangerous to go out in. “Awesome!” Taehyung says, “I get to spend another night with my Hobi-hyung!” the enthusiastic boy threw his arms around Hoseok, grinning happily. “Yah!” Yoongi said, pointing at Taehyung, “You two spend every night together, don’t think we don’t know!” Taehyung puffed his cheeks out in a pout and glared at Yoongi. “Anyways…” Seokjin said, “What are we going to do now?” “Just watch movies, I guess,” Namjoon says, a smile gracing his face, accentuating his deep dimples, and ruffling his hair with his left hand. Shrugging, Seokjin leaned back on the couch and continued watching the movie on the screen.
At around 12 AM all the boys were asleep. Taehyung and Hoseok were curled up against each other, despite being across the room from each other when awake, Yoongi was spooning the back of Jimin, half of Seokjin’s body was laying on top of half of Namjoon’s body on the couch, and Jungkook was leaning against the couch with Seokjin’s hand on his head. Namjoon’s father went down to check on the boys and just chuckled, shaking his head, while looking at their positions. He then headed back upstairs, leaving the boys be. The next morning, Namjoon carefully extricated himself from the tangle of him, Seokjin, and Jungkook, who had somehow gotten on the couch with them. He then headed upstairs, which was oddly dark for 8 AM. When he looked out the window, he blanched at the sight, or rather, lack of sight. The snow completely covered the window save for a couple of inches at the top. “Well,” he mutters, “Guess we’re not going anywhere for awhile.” He then checks the contents of the refrigerator and cabinets in the kitchen, relieved at the sight of more than enough food. However he does a double take when he realizes there is no power. The hum of the refrigerator is silent, and the lights won’t turn on. “Guess we’re reduced to ramen.” “Hyu~ng” Namjoon feels a body press up against his, arms going around his waist, and hears the sleepily husky voice of Jungkook ask, “What’s for breakfast?” “Well,” Namjoon says, tilting his head in thought, “I don’t know. Probably something from the fridge before it goes bad.” The boy hums before shuffling over to the fridge and opening the door. While he looks for something to eat, Seokjin and Yoongi arrive in the room. “Joonie, have you seen outside?!” Seokjin exclaimed. Namjoon hummed in answer, “Yeah, you’re not going anywhere for a while so get comfortable.” Yoongi huffs and sits down, pulling the half-asleep Jimin, who had just entered the room, into his lap. He placed his head on Jimin’s shoulder and closed his eyes, quickly falling back into sleep. Namjoon and Jungkook have now determined that Seokjin will make pancakes. Seokjin is the only one who can cook a decent meal. Hoseok and Taehyung can cook, but they tend to be lazy and only cook to their own tastes, Jungkook hasn’t bothered to learn, Yoongi is asleep on Jimin and really cannot be bothered, and Namjoon has a tendency to destroy whatever he touches.
The four boys moved to the living room while Seokjin cooked their breakfast of pancakes, silently thanking Namjoon’s parents for having a gas stove. Not long after, they could hear Taehyung and Hoseok come up from the basement, their hair tousled and shirts ruffled. Yoongi snickers as the two sit down on the loveseat adjacent to the full size couch the other four were sitting on. “Breakfast!” The six scramble up, rushing to the table and start chowing down on Seokjin’s food. Groans of satisfaction echoed throughout the room as the boys ate. Seokjin’s food really was the best. “So what are we going to do for the next few days?” Jimin inquired. Taehyung looked up with wide eyes, “Snowed in,” explained Namjoon. Taehyung nodded and then went back to eating. “I don’t really know. We can’t do anything that requires electricity… so just board games and lounging around…” “And sleeping” Yoongi cut in. Namjoon looked over at the older in annoyance. Yoongi just shrugs and continues eating. “Are we all going to sleep in the basement?” Hoseok asked, to which Namjoon shook his head. “It gets really cold down there, so we’ll probably just stay in the living room. We can grab the blankets though.”
After breakfast, the boys decide to play monopoly, “the game that breaks friendships.. for 5 to 6 hours,” as put by Jungkook. Seokjin sets up the game and is deemed the banker. Taehyung insists on partnering with Hoseok and the rest of them go solo. The seven rolled the dice to see who would go first and Yoongi got the highest roll of 9. From there, the gameplay started, and it really did take a long time. Taehyung and Hoseok were the first ones to go bankrupt due to Taehyung being too enthusiastic and buying every property possible, to the amusement of Hoseok. Namjoon was kicked from the game after repeatedly knocking the board off the table they were playing on, the boys irritated at having to right everything again and again; they banished Namjoon to the couch. Yoongi eventually quit due to being too tired and laid down on the floor. Jimin and Jungkook then started a fierce battle. Both owned half of the properties on the board and were racking up the rent with upgrades. At every turn they’d give each other hundreds of dollars and receive hundreds of dollars. The other 5 became so tired that they all fell asleep after the back and forth went on for around 2 hours. “OH MY GAWD! JUST GO BANKRUPT!” Jungkook yelled, annoyed. “NEVER! I WILL BEAT YOU!” Jimin countered. The boys are both shocked into silence when Yoongi got up and flipped the table, effectively scattering all the pieces. He then grabbed Jimin and used his chubby belly as a pillow and propped his feet on Jungkook. “Shut up.” the boy said before falling back to sleep. The boys both notice that the room is pitch dark. There was no longer the light filtering in through the tops of the windows. “We spent the whole day playing monopoly…” Jimin said quietly. “Well, it is a difficult game.” Jungkook laughed. “Well, night Jungkook.” “Night Jimin.”
The next day, the boys had to have ramen for breakfast. On the stove, Seokjin boiled the water and expertly cooked the noodles. After breakfast the boys decided to play a game of hide and seek, which is easy for the hiders, difficult for the seeker, because of the huge house Namjoon lives in. Through the game of kai bai bo, Jimin became the seeker and the others would hide. They made Jimin elephant spin while counting to 30 and went to hide. Taehyung and Jungkook, who had hid very close to the living room, their starting place, snickered when they heard Jimin stumble. Then Jimin was on the hunt. Jungkook was the only one who had a clear view of Jimin, and because of Jimin’s currently horrible balance, he ends up falling on the floor, laughing hysterically. “Jungkook! Really?!” Jimin whines, pouting at the boy. “Sorry Jimin.” Jungkook looks at Jimin apologetically before once again starting to laugh. Jimin just shakes his head, turning around to continue looking for the rest. Namjoon was the next to be found, after there came a crash and he started cursing. Jimin just looks at the broken vase in shock. “Namjoon, do your parents need to baby-proof this house. You’re breaking everything…” Namjoon smiles sheepishly, “They tried that once, putting everything breakable above my reach.” His smile fades, “It did not work.” Jimin opens his mouth, as if to say something, but no words come out. He just turns around and continues going through the house. He finds Taehyung behind a thick curtain, Seokjin in the kitchen… eating and Hoseok in a cabinet that he had somehow fit himself into. At this point all of the boys are looking for Yoongi, who had probably fallen asleep somewhere. They find him some time later in a guest room, sleeping. After that scare, they decide to not play hide and seek again.
On the third day, the boys were near running out of food. This was thanks to Jimin, Jungkook, and Taehyung, who did not know how to pace themselves at all. And there was a lot of fighting, mainly between Jimin and Jungkook. “I WAS BORN IN BUSAN FIRST!” Jimin yelled, fuming as Jungkook repeatedly copies him in a joking manner. “OH MY GOD JIMIN SHUT UP.” Yoongi yelled. “OoOoOoO,” Taehyung and Hoseok said in unison. Seokjin, sitting at the table, rubbed his temples and smiled weakly at Namjoon, “And this is why we don’t go on vacations together.” Seokjin suddenly sat upright, startling Namjoon, and said, “Wait...where are your parents?” Namjoon blinked once, twice, three times before saying, slowly, “They probably holed themselves up in their room to avoid this mess. There is a second kitchen, so they may be using that one.” “Aaah,” Seokjin said. “HYUNG TELL HIM I WAS BORN IN BUSAN FIRST SO HIS EXISTENCE IS INCONSEQUENTIAL TO MINE!” Seokjin looked up to see Jimin staring at him expectantly. “I’m sorry Jimin, but your argument is very much fallible.” Jimin stared at Seokjin, sniffled, and then fell flat on his face. Yoongi quickly used a pillow to cushion the younger’s face so he didn’t break anything. “I give up,” came Jimin’s muffled reply. He then looked up with a hangdog expression and said, “Sorry.” Just then the lights came on and the boys cheered. “I call movie choice!” Taehyung exclaimed. He went over to the DVD cabinet, chose a movie, put it into the DVD player, set up the TV, pushed Hoseok down on the loveseat and sat down on top of him. “What did you put on?” Jimin asked. However, the African chant of the opening of The Lion King answered his question. The other 5 boys, too tired to argue settled themselves around and on the couches and watched the movie in relative silence. Afterwards, Jimin puts another in and Seokjin and Namjoon head to the kitchen to clean out the fridge. “Um, maybe we should just...not.” Seokjin says, fingers holding his nose, as the repugnant smell hits them. “Uh… yeah ok.” If they were to clean out the fridge now, they would stink up the house for they would not be able to throw the garbage bag outside. Namjoon closes the fridge and the two head back to the living room.
A few days later, the snow had melted enough for the boys to use snow shovels to dig out the driveway and pathway from the front door. Of course, this expedition became a massive snowball fight.
Hoseok falls back in the snow as Taehyung tackles him, both boys laughing. Then, they’re both hit in the face by snowballs, Jimin and Jungkook laughing. The two smirk deviously at each other before pulling into view concealed snowballs and lugging them at the two. They then proceeded to get into a fierce snowball fight in which Hoseok and Jimin were recruited to make foot high barriers while the other two kept lugging snowballs at each other. While this was going on Seokjin, Namjoon, and Yoongi shoveled the driveway.. “They’re such kids.” Namjoon said, shaking his head in amusement. Then, “YOONGI, STOP STARING AT JIMIN AND SHOVEL!!” Yoongi groans audibly and continues shoveling. When they are all done, Namjoon suddenly gets a snowball to the face, and Seokjin and Yoongi get a snowball to the side of the head. This effectively adds the three boys to the snowball fight and they play around for about an hour before Yoongi yells, “OKAY! I CONCEDE! MY TOES ARE FROZEN!” at the same time Taehyung yells, “SEOKJIN-HYUNG I’M HUNGRY!!” Thus, the boys decide to head back inside to warm up and eat dinner. “Ramen again,” Taehyung and Jungkook groan. “Yes, deal with it.” Seokjin says cheerily. The two boys grin before digging in.
Finally, it is time for the boys to head home. Yoongi leaves with Jimin, after repeatedly asking the boy. He had effectively confused the younger into saying yes, causing the older to celebrate, doing a little jig. Hoseok and Taehyung also leave together, which all the boys knew would happen anyway, as the two had also arrived together. Seokjin and Jungkook leave by themselves.
“Bye Joonie!!” Taehyung shouted, leaning out of Hoseok’s car, waving enthusiastically. Namjoon can hear Hoseok’s loud laugh as they drive away and smiles. Then Yoongi claps Namjoon on the shoulder before going into Jimin’s car on the passenger side and Jimin waves his hands cheerfully. Jungkook leaves with a, “Bye Hyungs!” before walking to the nearest bus stop. And Seokjin left with a hug to Namjoon. Namjoon smiles fondly as the boys leave then says, “Never again.” As he walks into the house, “Dear god please never again.”
