Chapter Text
When he opened his eyes he got up slowly.
She saw two beds stacked in a small room and there were people sleeping on the mattresses.
This scene struck him as nostalgic. She remembered Choi Jung Soo and Lee Soo Hyuk. Although he slept in a shared room with Jung Soo (when he stayed at the company the three of them slept together. Unbelievably, the team leader was so lazy that instead of going to his own room, he slept with the rookies).
The scenes were projected in his eyes. Remembering the joyous moments, his deaths... he squeezed his eyelids shut to force himself to stop remembering.
Remembering was not worth it.
The important thing was to find out where he was.
He got up trying not to be heard and opened the first door he saw. It was the door that led to the bathroom. He locked the door shut before turning on the light and looking at himself in the mirror.
On the other side of the mirror he met the sight of Rok Soo. A pale boy with black hair and reddish brown eyes. He looked like a 16 year old.
«I am a child again...»
A sad sigh came from his lips.
«It is obvious that I do not return to the past. At this age he would have to be in the orphanage, and there we had more than three beds in one room. On the other hand I must be in a modern place because there is electric light here.»
“Great.” The whisper came out in surrender mode.
He leaned his back against the bathroom wall and flopped down. His hands covered his face and he closed his eyes trying to remember the last moment his eyes registered.
Shouts calling out his name. A small black dragon rushing to his side... But he focused on the eyes of his enemy, those eyes that slowly grew dim. His shocked face was worth seeing. Now he could be at peace and there would never be another crazy bastard who wanted to take over the world, not in a few years at least.
His mocking smile had faded to spit out blood.
His death came as slow and painful as his life had been. He knew that he had definitely died when an unsettling calm surrounded his senses.
He had given his life to the God of death.
He didn't expect to wake up in his old body with all the memories of him. He was beginning to wonder if it was a curse.
"Rook Soo?"
A voice called to him from the other side of the door.
That voice sounded exactly like the team leader. He wondered if he had fallen into an alternate world. He met Lee Soo Hyuk at age 18, when he was rescued by him.
"Rok Soo, what are you doing up so early?"
The voice sounded tired. Maybe she had woken him up but there was no way she could sleep again. Although he wanted to act like nothing, he was eager for answers ... but as an adaptable person he had to act according to the situation.
He got up off the ground dispelling his thoughts. I turn off the bathroom light and enter the small room where his companions were. Soo Hyuk was lying on the bed, as if he had never spoken to him.
"Soo Hyuk," he slowly called out to the person lying down. “I will go out for a moment.”
"Ugh... he's too early punk, go to sleep and stop talking nonsense." It was indeed Soo Hyuk. The person turned to look at Rok Soo, who was still in his pajamas.
"I'll go out for a moment," he repeated in a monotonous voice.
"Do what you want." He covered himself further between the covers and stopped talking.
In bare feet I walk to the other door. A dark door that blends in with the darkness of the site. Soo Hyuk was right in saying that he was too early.
His slow steps were silent and the sight of him traveled everywhere the vision of him reached. His body seemed used to the place because at some point he made the movement of putting on a sweater, he didn't know where he had come from.
He saw some simple shoes to wear. They seemed the size of his foot so he knew how to recognize them as his.
He unlocked the front door with some keys that were in the sweater.
The sight of him was stunned to see houses similar to Korea. The sun was barely rising and the sky was gray, it was still cold. He closed the door behind him and began to walk around.
That world was not Korea. The architecture was a variation between Korea and the Roan Kingdom.
The final clue was when he found an ancient looking monument. That monument had the figure of Cale Henituse along with some of his friends. The description said a lot of nonsense about the heroic deeds those people had performed.
From his sweater she took out a cell phone and searched for all information regarding his years as Cale, only to discover that more than 30 centuries had passed.
His body froze when he also discovered a small sheet of paper in the pocket of his sweater. A note that had accompanied much of his life as Cale and had been his death sentence.
《You finally woke up from your dream, Kim Rok Soo.》
It was the first thing he managed to read before rushing to put the note away. He didn't want to know anything about that pesky God. Maybe he hadn't cursed him enough to make him stop bothering him.
He walked some more as the sun rose in the sky. The newspapers said it was on the eastern continent. He smiled wryly when he found himself wondering that perhaps by traveling to the western continent he could find the graves of his friends.
"Fantasy must be divided from reality," he reminded himself softly.
He knew that he would not find the grave of his friends but he wanted to try, to regret leaving them, to witness that he would no longer see them alive and to stop feeling that he could still mend what had already happened.
The memories are just that, memories of the past... of the past that he would not return no matter how much he wanted it.
