Solidarity in Unusual Connections
“I’m not going to be using my father’s Quirk during our fight, Midoriya.”
Biting back a laugh at the earnest expression on his friend’s face, Izuku pressed the knuckles of his right fist against his mouth. “You’re such a Mama’s Boy, Shoto-kun.”
Shoto-kun turned to side-eye him. “Izuku, you’ve met my father,” his first friend said, looking at him in that way he always did when he thought Izuku was being silly. “I am definitely a Mama’s boy.”
Laughing softly as the pair of them continued on their way down the corridor, Izuku looked up as he heard the familiar sound of Uncle Enji calling Shoto-kun’s name.
“Hi, Uncle Enji,” he said, biting back chuckles as Uncle Enji practically smothered Shoto-kun, lifting him off of the ground with a powerful bear-hug.
“Ugh, stubble-face,” Shoto-kun grumbled.
Izuku tried as hard as he could to muffle his chuckling, even as Uncle Enji turned to look at him.
“Izuku!”
Laughing aloud as Uncle Enji picked him up off of the ground in the same kind of bear hug that he’d picked up Shoto-kun, Izuku squealed as Uncle Enji rubbed his stubbled left cheek against Izuku’s right.
“I’m looking forward to seeing you both in the finals!” Uncle Enji enthused, grinning widely at the pair of them. “You boys both do your best!”
“We will, Uncle Enji!” he called back, grinning as he saw the man giving him and Shoto-kun a thumbs-up as he made his way down the hall and back to the stands.
“I’m definitely only using Mom’s Quirk during this match,” Shoto-kun grumbled, as the pair of them continued on their way out to the arena.
“I guess he is a bit much,” Izuku said, chuckling as the both of them continued on their way to the arena.
Shoto-kun turned that same deadpan, unimpressed expression on him; Izuku smiled encouragingly back. Sure, he wasn’t entirely happy with Shoto’s decision, but there would be time during the course of the fight to convince Shoto-kun that not only was he thinking about half of his Quirk in a way that wouldn’t help either him or Auntie Rei, but he was limiting himself for no reason. Sighing softly, even as he and Shoto-kun made their way up onto the arena, Izuku resolved himself to his next course of action.
The sight of Uncle Enji, seated high in the stands and already waving his arms and shooting off flames in the shape of Shoto-kun’s name, prompted Izuku to facepalm. It also prompted Shoto-kun to raise an ice-pillar just so he could bang his head against it, so that wasn’t so great.
