Looking over to Justin’s empty bed, made Ernie feel a twinge of sadness. This year was an absolute mess and shitshow, he didn’t know how else to describe it. However, Justin’s empty bed brought him back to better times, times where life was easier and no one was fearing for their lives. One memory springs to his mind. It’s the summer after first year and Justin had invited Ernie to his home for a week. Ernie had been excited and nervous at the same time. Spending a week in a non-magical house was going to be an adventure. The first two days had Ernie constantly on edge. Lights going on and off at the click of a button. A loud piercing noise in the morning by a clock without hands simply giving the time by displaying four numbers. On day four Justin had told him they were going to a cricket game. England versus India. He’d never heard of cricket, but Justin said he’d explain it all. And explain it, he did. It was all excitement and wild gestures.
A smile breaks out on Ernie’s face. It had been the most magical time in Ernie’s life, and it was at a muggle sports game. When we get out of this war, Justin, we’ll go see another cricket game, I promise.
