Work Text:

Yao figures it’s inevitable his brother develops a ‘human crush’, one that all Land Personas try hard not to develop. Surprisingly, Kiku finds someone who defies the Japanese appearance and yet follows its spirit well. Kiku knows being too close to a mortal is bittersweet at best. Yet he finds himself not caring as no one, human or land personas, can avoid the end forever. For now, though, Kiku views him like all his people: a precious Sakura Blossom. Kazuma had done things that normal beings can’t; he can feel things beyond the five senses, and the possibility of outliving most of them is high. So, he finds himself in happiness as he encounters someone who is a human and yet not (not a drop of Youkai blood in them). The unspoken rule regarding the strongest human to hang with the personas and the limited time rarely activates itself since Rome's time with Spartacus. No one could guess that Kazuma would manage to get closer to them without breaking the rule.

As Kazuma remains the same young man, everyone ponders if the psychic will become the Land Personas’ human crush… Alfred used to think Kazuma would be just another human who would forget them after a certain amount of time. After all, the Country Personas get pretty busy with work and such. He even warns Kiku of that possibility the first time he hears of him. However, there was no need for not only Yao had warned Kiku as a child, but also Kazuma had no problems remembering their appearances remained the same or keeping up with their sense of time. When it was brought up, Kazuma said to Kiku, “I guess I have more practice dealing with immortals than other people. You can’t imagine how many times Urameshi himself forgets he’s one of them now!” Kiku wasn’t sure how he should feel when he said that.

“Alfred, how many times must I tell you to stop spying on Kazuma?” Arthur, AKA England, reprimands Alfred, AKA America, for talking about his incredible feats again.

“Aw, come on, Arthur; you have to admit it’s pretty awesome of your kid to pull it off!”

“First off, he’s not just my child; it’s also Kiku’s, and second, you should know better than to rummage through his life like an open diary.”

They were sitting in Arthur’s sitting room having tea time – well, Arthur was. Alfred was showing him pictures of Kazuma saving a family from a burning building. Alfred continues, “And the coolest thing is he knew it would happen before it happened! It’s like he’s getting stronger every time I see him!”

“Well, you'd better enjoy his feats while he’s still able. Eventually, age will catch up with his body, and no stubbornness in the world will help him continue like this.” Arthur sips his tea, glancing at one of the photos of Kazuma giving the baby back to the teary-eyed parents.

Alfred looks at Arthur strangely, “Whatta ya mean?”

“It means what I said, and it’s ‘What do you mean’ git.” He places his cup back on the saucer, “I admit he has been improving physically and mentally. Not to mention he has an amazing amount of energy that can sense things beyond the usual senses, but the fact remains, he is that: a human.”

Alfred then stares at Arthur, looks at the photos, and looks up again. “I know he is, but… There are times when I think… maybe he’s something else?”

Arthur snorts, “Do you mean like that Yusuke fellow? I don’t think he’ll appreciate you thinking such things.”

“No, I mean…" Alfred then carries a wishful tone. "Like he’s… one of us?

Now it was Arthur’s turn to stare outlandishly. “Impossible. All lands are occupied, and no new ones are developing as of now.”

“Well, maybe there are other lands we never thought of. I mean, he does hang out with his Youkai friends.”

“There’s already a persona for their home, and they have not bothered to associate with the likes of human affairs unless it affects them.”

Alfred grimaces. “…O-kay, not gonna ask how you know that…”

Arthur rolls his eyes as he places his cup onto his saucer. “Besides, if that was the case, then you may as well say since he hangs around with ghosts from his earlier years, he could be a persona representing them.”

Alfred laughs loudly… a little too loudly. “HAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT DO YOU MEAN, ARTY? HE CAN’T SEE THEM! DID HE HAVE YOUR IMAGINATION? HAHAHA!”

Arthur slyly grins. “Why Alfred, I would have thought since you believed in Youkai of Japan, you would know there are- “

“What was that? What’re you gonna say? I’m gonna get some coffee!!” Alfred then stands and walks quickly to the cupboards.

This particular thought has echoed within Arthur even before Alfred states it. The pictures of Kazuma appear in his late teenage years, when in reality, he’s near his thirties. The possibility of Kazuma being one of them is improbable, but referring back to his abilities, one has to wonder… Maybe he should discuss this with Kiku; after all, he still has the child’s citizenship, so he should have some opinion on the matter.
