Soulmates: one silver, gold for immediate family and one romantic.
You don’t have to marry your soulmate most people don’t. Some do and if it is their soulmate. Then they’re relationship will work. If it’s not it might work it might not.
Alix has always been different. She knew that early on. She never had red initials writing on her body. Instead she had multiple silver and gold ones. The First was A.K for Alice Kubdel(gold). They faded to black when she passed away. The second was also A.K for her dad; Alim Kubdel(gold). Then J.K. For her dorky brother Jalil(gold). Those were her soulmates. They weren’t romantic but she’d get her romantic soul mate soon right? Then she met a red headed boy named Nathaniel, he was fun to hang out with! Soon N.K. was engraved on her skin just below her ankle. Then she met a very scientific boy named Max. He was...interesting but a good friend. Soon M.K. On her wrist.
Her soulmates.
Weren’t romantic.
Surely she’d get her romantic one soon right?
Years passed still no red initials.
More silver ones...
M.H. For Mylene
L.C.K. For Kim
N.L. For Nino
M.D.C for marinette
J.C. For Juleka
L.C. For Luka(julekas brother)
And R.L. For Rose
But still no red. Maybe there was something wrong with her? But she was still young, she had more time. Then hawkmoth showed up. Alya came to class. Nino got his romantic partner. The red A.C. And everything. Alix just got a silver A.C.
Alix did some research like she was brought up to do when she had a question. ‘No romantic soulmate’ ‘ No red initials’. Just wait. Is what the websites said. Buts alix found some other saying maybe she was Aromantic.
Alix searched up Aromantic.
Aromantic: (also called aro) an individual who experiences little to no romantic attraction. They will not have red initials instead they will have multiple silver(platonic) ones.
Of course she does more research and find out about Asexual or ace.
Asexual: an individual who experiences little to no sexual attraction.
Alix seem to have a huge weight lifted off her. There were words to describe her. She wasn’t crazy. She felt better about her silver initials then ever.
She called Max and Nathaniel.
She told them she was AroAce. Max came out as Ace to them and Nath said he was Bisexual( he like boys and girls).

Alix smiled, school was starting again in a week(it was winter break)and she was excited. She had come out to her dad and brother who were super supportive. Though she asked for it to be kept quiet. Only 4 people knew.

At school Marinette was being sappy about Adrien being her soulmate. While Adrien was staring off into space. (Thinking about how ladybug was his soulmate.)
Kim was telling everyone that Ondine, was his soulmate. Max was smiling chatting with Sabrina.( his soulmate but that anyone beside alix, nath and Sabrina knew that.) Alya and Nino were being sappy. Alix shook her head and walked up to Mylene.
“ Hey Mylene! How was break?”
“ Great! Ivan took me to the ice rink...” Mylene continued to talk as alix unpacked her stuff.

“ Alright class please bring out you notebooks! We are now studying Ancient Egypt!” Ms bustier said.

The rest of the day passed without anything interesting. Same with the week.
On Friday, Alya had rounded up the girls to help Marinette.
Of course the talk had ended up about soulmates and the initials.
Marinette showed everyone her red A.A. Mylene had showed her red I.B. Rose showed her J.C. And Juleka showed her R.L.
Alix sat silent as everyone talked about romantic soulmates. She had never felt so out for place in her life. She quickly stood up, “ Sorry, I have to go! see you guys on Monday.”
“ oh, uh bye alix!”
“See you!!”
“ Aren’t romantic soulmate the best!”
Was the last thing alix heard as she left marinette’s room. What’s he didn’t hear was:
“ I wonder who Alix’s romantic soulmate is.”
“ Let’s find out on Monday!”

Monday. Alix was pretty sure the girls had forgotten about the incident...thing on Saturday. How wrong she was.
The class had a free period where everyone was working in a project. Alix was partnered with Sabrina and Nathaniel. As soon as Ms bustier left the room, the girls stood up, closed the door.
Alix glanced up then tuned to nath before she was interrupted by alya, “ Hey alix. “
“ Ya?” Alix asked slightly suspicious.
“ We want... to ask a question...” The rest of the class had looked to this interaction.
Alix’s eyes narrowed, “ Okay... what’s your question?”
“ Could you show us your romantic soulmark?” Rose squealed, “ We’ve never seen it! Or we never gave you the chance on Friday!” Alix practically felt her blood run cold.
As much as alix hated to admit it she was scared that they would thinks she’s weird unnatural because she was AroAce. She was afraid of coming out to her Friends.
“ Well?” Marinette asked. Alix blinked.
“ oh... uh... I- I “ damnit! Alix mental facepalmed she never stuttered. Unfortunately the girls took it to mean basically the complete opposite of what the stuttering was for.
“ Aww. She’s embarrassed!!” Alya smirked, “ Its fine alix, were all friends!” Friends wouldn’t make her show her non existent romantic mark.
Alix balled her fists and pressed them into her lap. She was in danger of attracting an akuma. Just then she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“ Leave her alone, she doesn’t she to share it with you guys. “ Nathaniel.
“ That is 100% correct.” Max.
“ Stop pushing her.” Sabrina. Wait what. Well they were okay, friends.
“ we just want to know. Sheesh, no need to get so worked up.” alya rolled her eyes.
Alix bkew out a breath and spoke, “ Alya, I don’t have a romantic soulmark. Because it don’t want one. I-“ alix breathed in, “ I’m Aromantic. And asexual. I don’t want romance.”
Rose gasped, “ But everyone wants love!”
Alix closed her eyes, “ And I do have that, platonic love, not romantic.”
“ But-but”
“ Rose, if you keep arguing I’m going to say your arophobic. “ alix said.
Rose squeaked, “s-sorry, I’ve just never heard of Aromantic. Are you sure?”
“ Yes I am! I am AroAce! I don’t want romantic love! Accept that! And leave my decision to me.” Alix practically yelled.
“ Sorry...” Rose looked at the floor.
“ Yeah, sorry alix...” Alya smiled, “ Thanks for telling us, we were going too far.”
“ If we are coming out,” Adrien spoke, “ I’m bisexual!”
“ I’m asexual as well alix.” Sabrina said.
“I am as well.” Max said smiling.
“ I’m bi...” nath smiled.
“ I’m pan!” Marinette said.
“Yoo, me too dude.” Nino said.
“ I’m bisexual” Kim said.
“ Lesbian.” Chloé spoke.
“Lesb..an” Juleka mumbled.

Alix smiled as she stood in the park, facing her work her smile widened.
She turned away. There was now a painting of the Aromantic and Asexual flags that said “ AroAce Pride!” On the wall in Alix’s favorite park.
