Work Text:
Yeonjun found a good spot for them on the top of some kind of restaurant.
Taehyun has no idea of how he did or how both of them got in and were there, watching some random romantic movie that the drive-in cinema was playing.
"See? I told you I would find a spot." He said smiling, proud of himself.
"That was a sign for me to never underestimate your abilities again. I get it." the younger sair with a pout, making the older laugh.
After that, they both started to watch the movie, which started pretty interesting, but it kept getting more and more dramatically boring and at some point, it lost all of Yeonjun's attention. To be honest, he didn't even liked romantic movies, but since Taehyun said that he wanted to see one, he got his mind into it and now they were there, with a nice view of the cars parked with a lot of couples having an excuse to kiss while seeing a movie, because the theatre was way more expensive.
His attention was now only on the boy next to him, who had his big round eyes sparkling while seeing the movie. He looked absorbed by the story, capturing almost everything he could get; so distracted that he didn't even noticed Yeonjun staring at him like was made of glass.
Taehyun had his mouth slightly open, a habit that he always had when he was paying attention to something. His hair moved because of the wind and he seemed to get a little cold because of it, so in a blink of an eye, he felt something on his shoulders, and when his eyes snapped off the big screen, he saw that Yeonjun gave him his jacket.
"But you'll be cold like this." he said, starting to take it away from his shoulders, but got stopped by the oldest.
"I'm not cold. Keep it." was his answer, with a reassuring smile on his face.
Taehyun didn't argue because he knew how stubborn Yeonjun could be, so he just got more closer to the other; their legs and shoulders touching, which made both of their hearts beat faster, making a slightly pink tone appear on both of their faces, neither of them daring to look at each other, to afraid of the proximity.
The younger one turned his eyes to the movie again, but now his mind was somewhere else.
The situation reminded him that his mother didn't liked Yeonjun at all. She always said that he shouldn't walk or even talk to kids like him because he was a "bad influence" but he never knew why. In reality, Taehyun never thought of him that way.
Of course the oldest did some questionable things ㅡ like when he set a whole trash can on fire for no apparent reason at all, which was pretty fun ㅡ but he was far away of being that monster that his mom portrayed him as. She even said that he might use drugs ㅡ which is true if you count cigarettes ㅡ and drink, which was a big lie, since he never have a good relationship with alcohol because of his father.
You would wonder how these two even managed to be friends in the first place.
They were both in high school, different classes, always saw each other in the halls, but never actually interacted. They're first encounter was in detention, when Taehyun got sent there for the first time in his entire academic days because he argued with a teacher and Yeonjun because he got caught fighting with another boy.
He had his nose bleeding a little bit and an almost black eye. The other boy lost a tooth and his left eye was swollen and red, not looking very good either.
Taehyun had offered him a tissue, which the boy used to clean his bloody nose, starting a small conversation that got quickly interrupted by the principal that came to scold them. After this day, they always greeted each other every time they crossed the corridors of the school, but nothing more yet.
They really started talking when they ended up in the same class the next year, rapidly starting some sort of friendship between them.
To be honest, Taehyun and Yeonjun had nothing in common.
In reality, they were quite the opposite; the older always wearing this old leather jacket, ripped jeans along with a pair of dirty and old black all stars and a kinda messy black hair; the younger, on the other hand, had the mommy's kid look, always with a perfect hair, blue button up shirt that sometimes he used with suspenders ㅡ and Yeonjun always said he looked absolutely adorable with them ㅡ and a pair of glasses that he didn't liked but needed because of his prescription.
Yeonjun only stopped looking at the other when he heard the song that was playing in the movie.
It was really calm and as he saw the big screen, the main couple started dancing, a slow dance like the ones at the spring prom, that he never actually wanted to attend, but always rejected tons of invitations from girls.
"Do you wanna dance?" He said looking at Taehyun again.
"I-i don't… I don't know how to dance…" He replied quietly, blushing a little because of the not so far distance between them.
"It's okay, I'll teach you." Yeonjun got up, offering a hand that got grabbed by the other. "Slow dancing it's easy, don't worry. Also we're just doing this for fun." He smiled.
"Okay."
Yeonjun caught Taehyun's hands and softly guided them through the spots they had to be, now resting on his shoulders, while his were on the shortest waist. At first, the dance was a little bit messy and uncoordinated, but quickly started to work. They were quietly laughing at the beginning, not wanting to be found up there, but as they got a steady rhythm, a comfortable silence reigned between them.
Taehyun knew that the other was staring at him, but he was too shy to look up and found that intense sharp eyes looking and observing like he could read all his thoughts and his soul, which, surprisingly, he wasn't that bothered, if he was being honest.
"Are you afraid to look at me?"
"What? No…" He said, looking up for a second, almost regretting, but got caught by his gaze, not being able to look away anymore.
"Were you avoiding it, then?"
"Stop." He said almost laughing again, now closing his eyes and resting his head on Yeonjun's shoulder.
He said nothing, just brought him a little more closer, almost hearing his own heartbeats through his chest. Taehyun didn't seemed affected by that, so the thought that it was okay, and got even closer, almost hugging him now.
Taehyun lifted his head out of the oldest shoulder that didn't really enjoy the lack of his warmth, only to look at him, now more closer than before.
"You're so pretty." Taehyun wanted to say that to him so bad, but got surprised when he actually heard the phrase, but not coming out of his own mouth.
"What?"
"I said that you're pretty, Kang Taehyun." Yeonjun said with that stunning smile that everyone fell for, now seeming to shine more brightly only for him on that starry night on top of that place.
He could clearly hear his heart beating like crazy, almost wanting to run away from his chest. Words never came out of his mouth, too surprised to even think of an answer, so he could just stare at his eyes, shining like stars.
Taehyun almost felt like ascending to heaven when they finally kissed.
It was only a chaste kiss, but he felt fireworks explode in his stomach, his knees almost giving up, along with his whole body that felt like melting on Yeonjun's embrace, holding him tight, like he could disappear.
He really wanted that moment to last forever.
