Work Text:
It was a warm spring morning, the birds where singing, the flowers were dancing in the wind and the first sunlight started to warm her skin.
Kyouka loved the early mornings and the sunrise.
It all was so silent, so peaceful, so harmless. It almost made her forget all about her parents and her time in the post mafia.
„Good morning Kyouka!“ her silence was disturbed by another flash of sunlight, or in other words: Kenji.
Kenji really was the impersonation if the sun for her.
He was big, warm and happy. He seemed so harmless and caring but was also one of the strongest people the black haired girl knew.
And he cared for her.
Genuinely cared for her.
He asked her how she was, he made sure she ate, drank and slept, he made sure she was ok and he looked out for her.
She was as thankful for him as the humans were to the sun.
Damm…she really couldn’t help but compare him to that big star in the sky, huh?
„Good Morning to you too, Kenji. What are you doing already awake?“ the boy she was talking to plopped down next to her under the big willow tree.
„Oh it’s just force of Habit, you know? I used to always wake up at 5am on the dot to go and milk my family’s cows.“
As the blond boy continued to talk about his family all Kyouka could do was stare at him. A morning breeze made his golden blond hair sway, his freckles seemed to dance on his nose and his features were always so animated when he got to talk about the animals and people from his home town.
„You know I should take you there some time!“ „Huh?“
„I mean I bet my family would love you! And I’d be so excited for you to meet our cows!“ Kyouka‘s cheeks reddened as Kenji grabbed her hands and smiled at her with that smile that was as blinding as looking straight at the sun.
She looked away. „I’d…I’d like to meet them too…“
Kenji laughed and the two made more ideal conversation, even if the blonde did most of the talking.
Kyouka felt at ease. That was just the affect the boy had on her. He made her feel loved and he made her feel welcome.
The girls hands wandered to the flowers in the grass.
When she was small her mother had shown her how to make flower crowns now she made them whenever she wanted to feel close to her mother again.
This warmth that Kenji seemed to radiate…it reminded Kyouka if that day. That day she sat under a willow tree with her mother and made flower crowns. So she did.
“Here…“,the quite girl said as she placed the crown of flowers on top of the blondes head. „O-Oh thank you Kyouka! I love it! It’s beautiful! Can you teach me how to make one?“
It was a warm spring morning, the birds where singing, the flowers were dancing in the wind and the first sunlight started to warm their skin.
Two figures sat under a willow tree with flowers on their head. One was talking loudly and animated, the other felt her eyes grow heavy.
Kenji continued to talk as Kyouka drifted back to sleep on his shoulder.
