Chapter 1: Dorm Assignments

Chapter Text

“We see here you come from a very well-established family, Miss Ririka.” The Headmaster noted rummaging through some files.

She cleared her throat, “that would be correct.”

“You needn’t worry we’ve seen it all before. Rich children acting out as a form of “fun” an easy escape from their lavish lifestyle.” He rambled, “but we can and will fix that, young lady.”

“Can’t wait.” Ririka mumbled quietly. To be honest there was nothing to fix about Ririka. She wasn’t the problem, her sister was.

She wondered what her sister would do now that she wasn’t there to take the fall. Would this somehow correct her behavior too? She certainly hoped so.

“It seems we have an opening on the second floor of our girls dormitory and lucky for you only one roommate. We normally stick to three girls a room but,” he scribbled down a number, “your roommate is a little aggressive.”

Her eyes widened, “what? No! I—I want to be with someone else then.”

“I’m afraid we have no other spots available. You were lucky your parents were persistent enough to even get you in with how our capacity is.” He replied.

She crunched her nose up in worry as she took the paper from his hands.

“Now I have other matters to attend to. I have a classmate of yours waiting outside to further assist you. Good day, Miss Momobami, I look forward to watching you recover.”

“Yeah. Thanks.” She scoffed grabbing her duffel bag from the floor.

She couldn’t believe the things she was doing for her sister—she owed her BIG time for this one.

She scowled at the thought. If she would’ve just stopped all this madness Ririka wouldn’t have been in this mess for her.

“Ugh!” She grunted pushing the door open.

“Woah! Calm down blondie.” The girl against the wall chuckled.

Ririka grabbed her hair, “I—It’s not blonde…”

The girl quirked her head, “huh. I guess not. Whitey doesn’t have as good of a ring to it though.”

“No—No it doesn’t. Ririka will suffice.” She replied coldly.

“Cool. I’m Midari, supposed to be showin’ you around n’ shit.” She explained extending her hand out, “can I see the paper?”

“Oh—uh yeah.” She handed it over watching the girl’s eye scan it over.

She wondered how she had lost an eye this young. Was this school full of people just like her? Violent gang members turned paraplegic angsty teens?

She couldn’t fully make that assumption though. Just because Midari wore gothic clothes and piercings and…was that a tattoo on her thigh?

Ririka squinted her eyes. They widened again. It was certainly a tattoo.

She shuddered at the thought. All she could do was pray that her roommate wasn’t—

“Shit. Your roommate is a nightmare.” She grumbled looking at the room number, “I’m surprised they even roomed you with her.”

“What?” She flashed concern.

“Uh—“ She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, “yeah…she’s not very fond of people. Last roommate came out of here in a body bag. Gory right?”

“You’re joking right?” She blinked nervously.

“Duh!” Midari bursted into laughter, “oh! Shit—Shit you should’ve seen your face, whitey.”

“Ririka.” She grunted frowning.

“Right—Right, Ririka, ah I’m gonna have fun with you.” Her laughter died down, “alright let’s get going. I’ll show you all the best spots to smoke in this shithole.”

“I—I don’t smoke.” She replied following closely behind Midari.

“So you don’t smoke. You’re not…crazy…from what I can tell….so what are you in here for?”

Ririka pursed her lips. Should she lie? Absolutely, there was no way anybody would believe the truth they’d mark her as “in denial of the truth.”

Ririka swallowed, “I’d get into fights a lot at my academy back home.”

“Aw come on, that’s nothing! There’s gotta be more than that.” She replied urging her to continue.

“I…may have…permanently disfigured a girl…once or…four times.” She replies quietly as she stares down at her shoes.

Midairi’s eyes widened with delight, “I didn’t even know you had it in ya! Oh…fuck this is great—we’re gonna be best friends, kid.”
