Chapter Text

Being from the city and so far inland, Jeon Jungkook had never been to the beach. Had never seen the ocean up close or felt the sand between his toes or tasted the salty water on his tongue. It had all been just a dream, a place he saw only on screens—until now.

Jungkook couldn’t help his wide smile as he parked his car in a nearly empty lot beside a car wash, inhaling the fresh air as an ocean breeze drifted through his open windows. He could barely contain his excitement as he jumped out of the car and was met with the most gorgeous, picturesque view he’d ever seen. The sun was just beginning to set on the horizon, casting the calm blue waters in a vibrant orange glow. The shore a blanket of smooth golden sand that he couldn’t wait to squish his feet into.

There were still some beach goers dawdling about, but most were packing up and heading back to their cars or to start their walk home. The seagulls were swooping in and out of empty areas, searching for any scraps left behind. And despite being so far back from the water, Jungkook could still hear the dull roar of each white capped wave. He wondered if the water would be cool or warm and how far he could safely wade out.

He dumped his pockets into the middle console of his car and rolled up the windows, nearly buzzing with happy endorphins. He’d just graduated from university a week ago, and had driven his old beat up car down from the city, praying it lasted through the drive. His suitcases of the few belongings he had were piled up in the trunk, waiting to be unpacked in his room at his aunt's house. She had graciously allowed for him to come stay the summer, his last true summer before having to enter corporate life.

The thought threatened to cloud his sunset state of mind, but he shook his head, as if to try to physically shake the thought away.

He wouldn’t worry about that now. Not when an ocean and whole summer of possibilities were ahead of him.

“Hey!” A sudden shout came from behind him.

Jungkook turned instinctively before his feet could touch the sand. A fairly short, but extremely pretty boy in overalls and a white v-neck, was walking towards him and waving a dirty rag. Pink highlights peeked out at the ends of his shaggy dark hair, and Jungkook struggled to focus on his words — pretty, pretty, pretty repeating over and over in his mind.

“You can’t park here,” he said, brows furrowed and pink lips in a frown, pointing to a ‘No Parking, Blue Side Car Wash ONLY’ sign. He reminded Jungkook of a sleepy cat from his narrowed eyes to his disgruntled demeanor. He couldn’t help but find him cute even as his own face was blushing in embarrassment.

“Oh, sorry I didn’t see the sign,” Jungkook said sheepishly, walking back even as he cast a longing look back at the beach. “All the other lots are pay-to-park...and well, I don’t have any cash on me.”

The cat-like boy scrunched his nose. “Who comes to the beach with no cash?”

Jungkook shrugged and chuckled sadly as he dug his keys out of his pocket. “I’m kinda broke. But it’s no big deal I’m sorry I’ll move...”

The boy sighed as he watched Jungkook’s shoulders fall in sadness as he shuffled to his car. “I haven’t seen you around before. I would definitely remember you , are you just passing through?”

Jungkook blinked in surprise, blushing a little more. “Uh, no actually I’ve come up to visit my aunt who just bought a house a few miles from here. I’m trying to stay the summer. Get away from the city, ya know.”

“Ah,” the catboy (the word filtering in Jungkook’s brain almost made it melt, but it was the perfect description for him) said. “A city boy. I know the type.”

Jungkook laughed shyly, toeing at the sandy pavement. “I promise we’re not all bad.”

The other only hummed, narrowing his eyes again, but they sparkled a little differently now. “I know that. We have one of you that works here at Blue Side. He’s not awful , not exactly,” he grumbled. He then slung the rag over his shoulder, folding his arms across his chest. Jungkook noticed then how nice his hands were, even if they were a bit dry probably due to his work. “I’m Yoongi, by the way. You are?”

“I’m Jungkook! Jeon Jungkook. You’re so lucky to work right here, and get that view all day. I’ve never actually been to the beach,” he replied with a big smile, talking a lot when he was nervous. Yoongi blinked, eyes widening a bit before his cheeks pinked. He couldn’t believe how beautiful this blue haired stranger was. He hadn’t felt these new kinds of butterflies for awhile now.

“Well, Jungkook, if that’s the case, as long as you promise not to stay too long, I’ll let you park here. But we close shop in an hour and I’ll be locking the gate, so,” Yoongi said, lazily gesturing towards the beach. “Go on, enjoy it.”

Jungkook nearly bounced in excitement, wanting to actually hug Yoongi if it wouldn’t have caused them both a great amount of embarrassment. “Ah, you really mean it? Thank you! I promise I won’t take too long. You’re the best!”

Yoongi only grabbed his rag, wringing it out as his face turned even pinker. “Yeah, yeah. Just go before I change my mind.”

Jungkook made a happy little sound before he was heading back towards the beach, almost hopping in his excitement as his feet finally met the gritty golden sand. It was even smoother and warmer than he had even imagined. He glanced back once towards the parking lot, seeing Yoongi heading back towards the car wash and meeting up with a bright red-haired boy leaning on a broom, who’s eyes seemed a bit more than curious.

Yoongi watched as the happy stranger, Jungkook, bounded towards the water like a puppy. He couldn't help the slightly endeared smile as he grabbed at the bucket he’d abandoned before he had approached him.

“Who’s that?” Jimin asked with a sly smile as he pushed back his wet hair, having just rinsed off with the hose. “Friend? New client?”

Yoongi snorted. “Nah, he said he’s just visiting the shore for the summer. Didn’t have any money for parking, so...”

“Awe, hyung, you’re getting sweet in your old age. Or maybe it’s just because he was extra pretty, huh? Or was it the muscles? I know you like them big,” Jimin teased him, leaning towards him, hand reaching out to pinch at his hips.

Yoongi smacked him away with his wet rag, swearing. “Leave me alone you demon, at least I’m not a slutty little size queen unlike someone . And I’m not that old, you brat.”

Jimin snorted as he picked up his broom and followed him into the storage garage. “Keep denying your nature, hyung. I’ve seen you cry on Joonie’s big cock too many times to let you even pretend.”

This earned the younger a quick and painful snap to the back of his thighs with the wet rag, making him cry out dramatically for Taehyung who was just coming in from the mechanics garage.

“Ah, hyung, don’t be a meany,” Taehyung said, only making Yoongi roll his eyes even harder as Jimin demanded to be carried into the office, faking a grave injury.

Taehyung happily picked him up bridal style even though his clothes were covered in grease, coddling the smaller boy as Jimin stuck his tongue out at Yoongi over his shoulder. Yoongi only reached out and pinched his cheek, making him squeal.

Aish , what’s with all the noise?” A deep grumble came from behind the desk in the AC haven of the office.

“Hyung’s being cruel,” Taehyung said as he slumped into one of the chairs in front of the desk, placing the pouting Jimin, who was rubbing at his red cheek, in his lap.

Namjoon looked up at them from over his computer, raising a brow. “Are you being cruel, hyung? I thought only Hobi played like that.”

Yoongi rolled his eyes once again as he walked around the desk, bending down to place a quick kiss on Namjoon’s cheek before slinging his arm over his shoulder. “He’s being a baby as usual. How was your afternoon? You never came back outside after lunch.”

Namjoon sighed in the way that let Yoongi know he was carrying a heavy burden. A burden he wouldn’t unpack until the two of them were alone, or with Hoseok who often helped be a shoulder they could both lean on. Yoongi pressed his fingers into the back of Namjoon’s neck, massaging in the spots that usually caused him pain. Their boyfriend, and owner of Blueside Car Wash, groaned in pained bliss as he dropped his head forward allowing Yoongi to rub harder.

“Ah, ah right there,” Namjoon groaned, shifting his head to the side and bringing up one shoulder for Yoongi to press expert fingers into. He’d been working on getting his massage therapy license since the beginning of the year and luckily had five very willing practice patients. Namjoon was always at the top of that list.

“Did Seok and Jin hyung already leave?” Joon asked through a tight jaw as Yoongi pressed down on a sensitive spot.

“Yeah, I closed up the shop as we only have a couple cars up right now,” Taehyung answered in between kisses to Jimin’s face.

“And hyung only stopped by for the lunch rush,” Jimin added, wiggling in their boyfriend’s lap, uncaring of the grease on him. “He and Hobi were going to catch waves before dinner I think.”

“Right,” Namjoon said, looking up at his computer screen where in the corner was a minimized chart showing the weather and a wave and swell tracker. It was a good evening for the two beat surfers of the group. “I doubt they’ll be back in time for dinner. We’ll leave the oven warm for them.”

“Well, I’m starving and it’s getting time to close the gates,” Yoongi said after a little while. “Let’s wrap up and head out.”

“Agreed,” Namjoon sighed. “I’ve got a beer and bbq chicken calling my name.”

Yoongi bent down to nip at the soft spot behind his year, making his buff boyfriend almost giggle. “Yeah, bbq chickens I have to make for you all.”

Namjoon turned his head then and caught Yoongi by surprise by pressing his lips to his, one hand reaching up to wrap around the side of his slim neck. “I’ll run you a good bath tonight in thanks.”

Yoongi hummed his approval before kissing him again, putting a middle finger up to their other two boyfriends cooing at them like babies.

Yoongi pulled away from Joon with a wet pop, his eyes already hazy with need. It made the smaller man want to close the blinds and let him bend him over the desk. “I’ll make you two scrub the grease spots from the garage if you're not careful,” he warned the other two, giving them pointed looks before pulling away from Namjoon. “Hurry up I wanna go.”

It didn’t taken long for Jimin and Taehyung to be scrambling out of the office to help close up shop, never ones to take Yoongi threats lightly. Namjoon chuckled warmly after them, even though the shadows fell back over his face as Yoongi glanced back at him. Brows furrowed as he watched his boyfriend of ten years look like he was aging of worry with every passing second. He would have to get what was bothering out of him soon before it ate him away before his eyes.

Namjoon had always been one to carry all his troubles alone. They had joked that that was why bis muscles were so big, body so thick, because he held his worries (and often all of theirs) without asking for help. But he’d gotten better over the years, especially when the six of them found their way to each other. When the security of five other lovers gave him a chance to relax and lean on them. But even now, so many years later, Yoongi still saw his Namjoon try to hide away when things got really really bad. Never wanting to put those shadows over them.

But he needed to. And he and they all knew it. So whatever it was he would get it out of him, or at least all of them together would.

The three of them set to work finishing up the final duties of the day. The sun slipping low towards the horizon. Yoongi waited for Namjoon to come out of the office, watching him switch off the open sign and close the door.

“Hey babe,” Yoongi said, lips pursed. “Do you think it’s time we replace Soobin? With summer starting it’s going to get even crazier around here.”

Namjoon pondered this for a moment as he pocketed his keys. “Sure, why not? We’ll need all the help we can get. Should we put the help wanted sign up or do you know someone?”

Yoongi looked back towards the beach where a very wet boy was making his way back towards the parking lot, shaking out his blueberry hair like a dog. Smile so big he could see it from here.

“I think I actually do. Let me go lock the gate. I’ll meet you at the car,” Yoongi said before walking towards the beach.

Namjoon watched him quizzically before shrugging and heading over to where Taehyung was strapping Jimin’s pink helmet, decorated with a set of plastic cat ears on him, smiling fondly.

“Hey!” Yoongi called out to Jungkook, waving his arm to get his attention.

Jungkook waved back, jogging now as he slipped on his shoes, blue hair dark and slicked back, a silver piercing shining in his eyebrow that Yoongi had missed before. “Hey! Sorry, I’ll move the car now!”

“No worries,” Yoongi said as Jungkook stopped in front of him, dripping from head to toe as if he’d jumped right into the ocean in his street clothes. What an odd guy. Yoongi liked it. “I was wondering though, you said you’re broke so are you looking for a job?”

Jungkook brushed some sand off his arm as he looked at him with wide glittering eyes. “Actually yeah, I was hoping to find something around here. Just for the summer.”

Yoongi chose to ignore the last part. “Right well, Blue Side is hiring. You won’t get rich or anything but you’ll be able to pay for beach parking and good meals. You should come by around noon tomorrow. Meet the owner and some of the other guys. See if you’d make a good fit.”

Jungkook gave him a shining smile that made Yoongi’s brain fuzz out for a moment. Seriously. How beautiful could one boy be? “Really? That would be awesome! I love cars.”

Yoongi nodded, gesturing for them to walk towards Jungkook’s car. It was an older model, but it looked well cared for. “Well that’s a good first step. I’ll see you tomorrow then?”

“I’ll be there!” Jungkook said happily as he unlocked his door, getting right into the driver's seat even though he was still dripping.

Yoongi shook his head as he closed the door for him, watching him pull out of the lot and out to the street. He closed the gate behind him and secured the lock, thoughts full of how very interesting this summer season just might turn out to be.

Jungkook didn’t know what to wear to a car wash job interview. Yoongi had been wearing overalls, the other guy shorts and a ripped tank. Did he show up in beach wear? Jeans? A suit?

His aunt ended up picking out a nice pair of dark jeans and a button up that was now a little too tight because of his growing muscle mass, but it would have to work. She did debate with him whether a car wash was really the best place to work at during the his short time at the beach town. He could easily find a serving job at a dive bar or seafood restaurant and earn a lot more in tips there than at a car wash.

But Jungkook felt a certain pull towards Blue Side Car Wash (and maybe even more so to the very cute worker Yoongi with his pretty lips and cat-like eyes). Jungkook wouldn’t mind a summer spent half naked and wet with him…

He shook his head out at the thought, almost smacking his face and looking into the mirror to tell himself to get it together. Yoongi was just friendly and helping him out. That was it. Nothing more.

Jungkook drove to the car wash and was outside the front office door three minutes before noon. The car wash was busy enough where he had parked at the lot across the street (paying his fair share this time). Loud music came from speakers' positioned on both sides of the building, playing today's top hit radio which made him cringe a little. Maybe they would let him take over the music choices when he started. Two guys he hadn’t seen the other day were outside and wiping cars down with rags, another one pulling a car into a mechanics garage attached to the car wash. They had all looked over at him as he’d approached the office and Jungkook had felt his skin tingle under their gaze.

“Jungkook!” Yoongi called out to him as he rounded around from one of the open car wash sections. “I’m happy you actually came back.”

Jungkook felt his nerves disappear for a second as Yoongi gave him a friendly smile, today dressed in ripped jeans and a loose grey t-shirt that hung slightly off his one shoulder. His skin was pale and pretty and a bit flushed from the sun and Jungkook tried not to stare and lick his lips.

“Of course! I’m really grateful for the chance, thank you again, Yoongi,” Jungkook said, bowing his head in gratitude.

Yoongi only smiled as he opened the office door and a rush of glorious AC met them. “Yah, come in and meet Namjoon-ah. He’s the owner and your would be boss.”

Jungkook steadied his nerves as he followed Yoongi into the office. It was fairly small with a few pieces of furniture and a surfboard displayed in the corner. A single room and a single bathroom that said ‘Employees Only’ on the front. A large water cooler in the opposite corner and a snack and fridge beside it. Quaint but cozy.

“Namjoon this is Jeon Jungkook, new in town and looking for a job,” Yoongi said to the man sitting behind the desk at the far side of the room.

Jungkook almost tripped over his own two clumsy feet as he watched Namjoon stand and greet him with a dimpled smile. The owner of Blue Side Car Wash was the exact opposite of Yoongi. He was tall, built, tan, and huge . Jungkook had always prided himself on his own muscular build, but even he was lean to this hulking man with his bulging biceps and thick thighs, perfectly visible beneath his tight swim shorts.

“Ah, Jungkook, nice to meet you,” Namjoon said, bowing his head slightly, dark short hair so soft he wanted to run his fingers through it, two perfect dimples prominent in his cheeks. How Jungkook was not melting into the floor he didn’t know. “We’re happy you’re willing to apply.”

Jungkook quickly snapped back to reality and bowed low back, stepping forward and handing a folder out towards the man. “T-thank you for g-giving me the chance!” He said probably a little too loudly.

Yoongi only smiled encouragingly but a glimmer in his eyes made Jungkook think he knew exactly why Jungkook was currently falling straight into a full on gay panic. Even if he hadn’t been gay (which Jungkook was gay gay so definitely gay he really, really hoped Namjoon was gay too because holy wow thighs) he still would have appreciated the beauty of the man before him. How could anyone not? He belonged on the cover of magazines not in some small beach town wearing a tank top and swim shorts and looking like a god.

“Have a seat please, though you look very nice compared to the rest of us, so the chair might give you grease stains,” Namjoon said with a warm chuckle making Jungkook blush. Maybe he should have went with the swim shorts too.

“Joonie, be nice,” Yoongi playfully scolded the bigger man. “This is an interview after all.”

“Right,” Namjoon said, giving a bashful look to Yoongi, almost batting his eyes and Jungkook immediately picked up that there was something there between the two. It only made the youngest flush more, and maybe a little pangs of jealousy and disappointment. “We haven’t held an interview in a long awhile. Our workers just kind of show up and pick up a bucket and rag and that’s that.”

Jungkook sat on the chair in front of the desk, folding his hands on his lap and sitting straight up. Just how his mother had always instructed him to sit in front of adults. Though he doubted Namjoon and Yoongi were much older than him. But even at twenty-three Jungkook at times didn’t feel like much of an adult. His brain was still trying to process that uni was over and he was to start his ‘real’ life soon.

“So, Jungkook, what brought you to town?” Namjoon asked, as he placed on a smart pair of glasses and flipped open his resume folder. Jungkook caught Yoongi trying to hide his smile out of the corner of his eye, as if watching Namjoon switch into professional mode was humorous.

“Um, my aunt recently moved here and she lives alone and so we thought it would be a good chance for me to have a little break after being in school for so many years. But I’ve never left the city before for more than a week on vacation and my parents like the mountains as my mom doesn’t like the way sand gets everywhere so I’ve never been to the beach and yesterday was actually my first time ever going into the ocean which it’s a lot colder than Ihadexpectedbutstillrefreshing,” Jungkook said, talking a mile a minute and only realizing too late that it was probably a lot more information than what they were looking for. He winced and toyed with his thumbs. “So, uh, yeah I’m here for the summer.”

Namjoon was patient and waited for him to finish as he scanned his resume and cover letter and reference letters. “I’m sure your aunt will be happy to have you around to help. So it seems you studied finance in school, and had very impressive grades.”

Jungkook shrugged. “Could have been better but I did well.”

Namjoon looked up at him with a raised brow. “Well, there is always room for improvement in everything we do in life but we should still be proud of how far we’ve come and what we’ve accomplished.”

Jungkook blushed. “Y-yes, you’re right.”

“Though I would think you would try to look for an internship in your field or something in town with these credentials,” Namjoon mused as he looked back to the resume.

“Well, yes but I’m not…not yet ready to enter the field. I thought I would take a little break,” Jungkook said but then waved his hands, eyes going impossibly wide. “Not that working here would be a break! I’m not lazy I mean I would work hard for you of course I didn’t mean—.”

“Jungkook, Jungkook it’s fine I understand what you meant,” Namjoon said with a warm chuckle as he removed his glasses and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms so that the muscles in his chest and forearms bulged as big as Jungkook’s eyes as he looked at him. “And I get it. I went to school, got a PHD and after I came back here, well I’ve never left. You see, Blue Side was started by my father when I was a kid. I was born and raised on these beaches and when he passed shortly after I finished school I didn’t have the heart to sell it. So I, as well as Yoongi here and the others, have helped me keep it and the mechanic shop up and running since.”

Jungkook’s shoulders relaxed a little as he gave Namjoon a sympathetic smile. “That’s…really nice of you, like a little legacy.”

Namjoon smiled back, dimples so deep it made butterflies bloom in Jungkook’s belly. “You’re exactly right. And while this place may be a wayward stop for a lot of workers during the on seasons, it’s my livelihood so I only hire those I know that can respect that.”

Jungkook nodded, back straightening a little and a determination glowing in his eyes. “I promise I would never let you down, Namjoon-ssi. I’ll do whatever you ask whenever you ask it. I’m a good worker and good with people and cars.”

Despite his being a bit of a piece of shit he knew his ways around cars enough to keep it working well. And while he had only done a few car washes for charity fundraisers in high school and at uni he was sure he would get the hang of it soon. Plus he was a quick learner. As long as he didnt let himself get distracted by the seemingly very attractive employees and owner of Blue Side…he should be fine.

Namjoon quirked a brow and looked at Yoongi, who was smiling knowingly. “Well, I definitely like that kind of attitude. Are you punctual?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Are you tidy?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Can you work weekends and early morning weekdays and be available at short notice if we have to switch around schedules?”

“Yes, sir I’ve got nothing else going on.”

Namjoon smiled and stood up then, reaching a hand out to him. “Then welcome aboard, Jungkook. I think we’ll be very happy to have you here.”

Jungkook beamed, smile and eyes shining. He practically jumped up and grabbed Namjoon’s hand, shaking it excitedly. “Thank you so much, Namjoon. I’ll work hard, I promise.”

Namjoon winked and Jungkook’s brain nearly short circuited. “I have no doubt. And call me hyung, please.”

“Me too!” Yoongi said, coming up and patting Namjoon on the shoulder in an almost too-friendly way. “I think you might actually be the youngest among us here, but don’t worry we won’t tease you. Too much.”

Jungkook only smiled wider and nodded, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet. While a job was still a job and money was money, he felt like this might be the start of something really great. He just didn't know exactly what that was yet. But he couldn't wait to find out.

🫐🍑

Jungkook started the next day, bright and early and rising with the sun. He decided to borrow his aunt’s bike instead of driving his car and having to find a place to park it for the day. It was only three miles from Blue Side Car Wash and mostly down hill, so getting to work wouldn’t be as hard as going home. But he had strong legs and determination so he knew it would be fine.

He rode up and around the locked gate towards the closed garages, the sun just beginning to brighten the sky in a golden glow as he came to a stop by the front office. He frowned as he looked around at the quiet street. The only other open shop being the coffee shop a little ways down the road in the strip of businesses on the opposite side of the street. Seagulls were already squawking down at the beach, the waves a distant roar that felt like his own personal ASMR as he walked around the building to find a place for his bike.

Suddenly the front office door chimed with the little bell making Jungkook turn his head back.

“Hey Jungkook!” A very friendly voice greeted him from a heart shaped smile. “Yoongi-hyung told me you’d be here this morning and to help teach you the ropes. I’m Jung Hoseok, but you can call me hyung or Hobi whatever you're comfortable with!”

Hoseok was equally as attractive and charming as Namjoon and Yoongi but in a totally refreshing way. He had bright blonde, nearly white, hair, a slim build but still athletically strong looking, and a smile that beamed from his face like sunshine.

Jungkook smiled back and bowed a bit. “Nice to meet you, hyung. I’m happy to get started!”

Hobi clapped his hands together and smiled even brighter. Maybe Jungkook would need sunglasses to look at him without combusting from his brilliance. “Great! Joonie usually parks his bike by the back door so you can do the same! We’ve got coffee and pastries inside so come join us and we’ll get you settled in with some paperwork and the basics.”

Jungkook nodded and walked around back, locking his bike to the small bike rack behind the door. The view of the ocean was perfect from the backside of the office building. The window to the office had a view of the shoreline and he wondered how often Namjoon stood there to look out at the ocean. But he did say he was born and raised on these beaches, so it probably wasn’t as awe inspiring to look at as it was to Jungkook currently.

The AC was a nice welcome after his bike ride to the car wash as Jungkook walked into the office, sighing happily at the chill and the smell of fresh coffee.

“Hey! Here you go,” Hoseok said, sitting at the same chair behind the desk that Namjoon was in yesterday, holding out a cup of coffee. “Creamer and sugar are in the cooler, and this is Taheyungie, I mean Kim Taehyung. Our resident greaser.”

Jungkook perked up as he stepped forward to take the coffee cup, eyes not leaving the dark haired beauty perched on the edge of the desk. He had long shaggy black curls, held back with a colorful bandanna, eyes intense as he tilted his head. He was the kind of guy Jungkook would see out at clubs in the city, tall dark and handsome sort with an air of mystery and intrigue that he would want to dabble in but his baby gay self would have been too shy. Gorgeous and enigmatic. Dangerous even, but only the sexy kind.

He felt his face flushing before he could even give a proper greeting. “Nice to meet you Taehyung. My name’s Jeon Jungkook.”

Taehyung was instant smiles then, the cold smolder melting away to an almost boyish glimmer. The switch left Jungkook blinking but something in him made him want Taehyung to look at him like this all the time.

“Hi! You can call me hyung, we’re all pretty casual here,” Taehyung said, tilting his head again and eyeing Jungkook up and down. “They were right, you are very cute.”

“Down boy,” Hoseok said with an amused laugh, Jungkook going nearly beet red. Who had said he was cute? Yoongi? Namjoon? Both? “Ignore him, Jungkook, he’s a shameless flirt.”

“Aren’t we all?” Taehyung asked, raising his eyebrow suggestively as he took a sip of his own coffee.

Hoseok only sighed and rolled his eyes as he clicked the mouse a few times. “Don’t you have some cars to fix, baby?”

Jungkook nearly held his breath as Taehyung slipped off the desk, rounding it to lean down and kiss Hoseok right on his heart shaped mouth. Hoseok squeaked in shock before kissing him back and then shooing him away, muttering about ‘shamelessness’ and the ‘audacity’ as Taehyung winked at Jungkook before heading towards the door.

“See you out there! And be gentle with the boy, Hoba. He seems sweet,” Tae said as he left the office, his laughter being heard even as it closed.

“Sorry about that,” Hoseok said a little flustered as the printer underneath the desk whirred to life. “He’s a brat and he’ll regret that later. I hope that he didn't make you uncomfortable or anything.”

Jungkook tried to fight the ringing in his ears and the heat in his cheeks as he waved his hands. “No, no it’s fine. I’m actually kinda jealous,” he said with an embarrassed laugh. “You two are cute together.”

Hobi smiled as he bent down to retrieve the papers, eyes never leaving Jungkook. “Awe, thanks! He’s a menace but I adore him. Well here’s some paperwork we’ll need to fill out…”

The next hour Jungkook spent in the office mostly alone, filling out paperwork and clicking through safety instruction videos on the computer. Despite it being a small and family owned business, they were pretty serious about making sure he completed all mandatory instructional videos. He yawned a few times during the drone of the woman explaining weather safety procedures as his eyes wandered towards the window and out to the beach.

The waves were high today, surfers and wakeboarders already out and active. Jungkook watched them with rapt attention as they swam out with strong arms, a couple catching a wave while others stayed back. They did so as if on rotation. Clapping over their heads or fist pumping the air when someone caught the wave perfectly. Jungkook had never considered surfing before. He had always been athletic and liked a lot of different sports. Snowboarding being one of his favorites. Surfing couldn't have been all that different…maybe this summer he could give it a try.

He continued to watch as one big surfer swam back to shore, walking up the beach as he pulled off the tight surf shirt to show rippling tanned muscles beneath. Jungkook found himself almost drooling as he watched him shake out his short hair and slip on sandals as he dug his surfboard into the sand beside a group of other boards. And as he walked closer and closer towards him Jungkook’s eyes almost bugged out of his head as he realized it was Namjoon. He nearly choked on his coffee as he pushed away from the window and back to the computer screen, trying to keep calm, cool and collected and refocus on the training videos.

When the front office door opened a little while later, Jungkook was sure he had died and gone to heaven. Because there was no way a man like Kim Namjoon was real and standing before him, half naked and dripping in salt water, golden skin dusted with sand.

“Oh! Jungkook! Sorry!” Namjoon said, having the decency to blush as his muscles flexed (on their own or on purpose Jungkook didn't care). His chest nearly rippled, muscular thighs even more prevalent in his wet surf shorts. He opened the closet beside the door and grabbed a towel, drying off his hair before wrapping it around his shoulders. “Forgot about the first day videos, they’re pretty boring aren’t they?” Namjoon laughed as he walked over to the water cooler, grabbing a hydro flask from a box near it and filling it up.

Jungkook tried not to look at his perfect plump ass, nearly having to wipe drool from his chin as he kept his eyes on the screen. “Uh, yeah a bit but I’m almost done.”

“Great! Sorry for being so unprofessional on day one,” Namjoon said, trying to hold the small towel closer to his chest to hide his dark and perked nipples. Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip, eyes darting up to the man and back to the screen. “We’re pretty casual around here, and most of us are surfers. Hoba and Seokjin-hyung are actually professionals and compete a lot. But Hoba thankfully runs a lot of our customer service and online things, he’s a great trainer so we always put him with the newbies. He’s been with us almost as long as Yoongi and I have been together.”

Jungkook’s heart sank at the words. He knew it. “S-so you and Yoongi-hyung are a thing?”

Namjoon blushed and rubbed at the back of his neck. “Uh, yeah we’re actually all…”

The front door suddenly flung open, Hoseok looking a little frazzled. “Three cars in line already! Joonie, I need you on tire duty until Yoongi gets in. Please put on a shirt before you give the poor boy and all our customers heart attacks. Tits are out of control. Jungkook, I know we haven’t had time out in the front yet but you think you can dry for now?”

Jungkook was quickly on his feet, trying his best to ignore the ‘tits’ comment (and definitely not imagining him going face first into Namjoon’s massive pectorals and happily suffocating) as he followed Hoseok out the front door. Drying cars would hopefully help keep his mind off of thinking about all them half naked and dripping wet from the ocean.

“Bin of dry towels here,” Hoseok said quickly, tossing him a few. “Dirty ones in this red bin. Start with the windows and mirrors and go down from there. Doesn’t need to be perfectly dry but try your best. We do have regulars that are very particular. If I give the peace sign as I send them out, then that’s who I mean and make sure to take extra care with their cars. Once we calm down and Yoongi gets in then I can show you more of the basics.”

Jungkook nodded and watched as Hoseok and Namjoon (now in a shirt, albeit a tight one) walked into the garage to pull a car through. The car wash was half automatic and half manual. Allowing for them to give extra care to the cars, while having machines inside the garages that applied some of the heavier soaping and washing to the cars. It seemed easy enough for what Jungkook could see. But he couldn't help be a bit nervous when Hoseok sent the first car out to dry.

He smiled at the young couple in the front seat, taking the rags to the windows and mirrors first as Hoseok had instructed. When he got to the back windows he was met by a pair of wide dark eyes of a small child. They both stopped and stared at each other for a moment before Jungkook was making a silly face as he wiped across the window, and then changing his face when he swiped the rag the other way causing the child to immediately start wildly giggling. He did a few more times before smiling back and heading around the other side of the car.

The father then rolled down the window and handed over a tip, Jungkook taking it with a low bow before waving to the child as they drove away. He counted the tip in his hand and was shocked to see how much it was. Maybe this job would make him more than he had originally thought.

The line of cars didn’t stop for an hour after that. Jungkook already sweating through his shirt by the time the last car pulled out and they got a bit of a break.

“Nice work Jungkook!” Hoseok said, beaming at him as Jungkook walked back to the garage. Namjoon was coming back out of the office holding another hydroflask for Hoseok and bottled water for Jungkook. “Not so bad right?”

Jungkook shook his head as he downed half the water. “It was great! Everyone was mostly really nice. Got a lot of tips too, is there a place we put them…?”

Namjoon waved his hand nonchalantly. “Keep what you get for today. Sometimes we split it up on really busy days. It’s never truly enough to be worth splitting though. We typically go out after work most days and spend the tips on beer and fried chicken anyways.”

Hoseok laughed as he drank from his hydroflask. “You won’t get rich from this job, but R2 Chicken & Beer down the road is worth it every time.”

“We should plan to go this week so you can meet the crew all together. Sometimes it’s hard to wrangle everyone with our busy schedules but we can try,” Namjoon added. “Well while we have a minute I need to do some things in the office, you good with training alone Hoba?”

“Aye, captain I’m on it,” Hoseok said with a salute and a wink that had Namjoon blushing a little.

Hoseok was in fact a very thorough trainer, even if the job duties were fairly easy. He walked Jungkook through the basics of the computer system where people were to select the wash they wanted and pay with card or cash. The cash dispenser wasn’t very reliable though so they encouraged cards whenever possible. The system had eaten one two many bills but they didn't have the means to replace it currently. He shows him the ropes within the car wash garage itself. How to run the automatic soaps and washers and talked him through tire shines and waxing.

“The soap…” Jungkook said, sniffing lightly as Hoseok pressed the button for the soap rod to cover the car in the colorful suds. “That smell…it smells so good, what is that?”

Hoseok laughed. “Blueberries and peaches. Namjoon’s father made it himself and we hand make it to this day, Blue Side speciality.”

Hoseok tells him they also do car detailing which is a much longer process and usually took two of them doing so as it was both exterior and interior of the cars. The mechanics garage next door Namjoon and Yoongi built as an addition to the car wash after Namjoon’s father passed. Taehyung works there solo most days but Yoongi also helps out if the work becomes too much. It was mainly for small fixes and services for locals or travelers that didn’t mind waiting a bit.

“Most places near us are fully automatic car washes now, with a lot of fancy options and services. But Blue Side is still very hands on…plus people don’t always come here just to get their car washed or maintenanced,” Hoseok said with a little mischievous gleam in his eye.

“What do you mean?” Jungkook asked, brows pulled tight in confusion.

“Well…Blue Side is kinda known for having the best looking washers around. We don’t advertise it or anything but it’s kinda become a tourist attraction and we definitely have a lot of locals hooked. We have six guys working here often, used to be seven but Soobin left for university. We also have two girls, Hwasa and Chungha, that come by a couple times a week but they work at the local tattoo shop too so they don’t work as often as they used to. Which is fine because we can’t pay like we used to either…” Hoseok's voice faded before he bounced back with a bright smile. “So I truly think you will do very well here.”

Jungkook blushed and wrung out the rag in his hands. “Well…that makes a lot of sense now,” he said and laughed shyly. “I haven’t even met everyone but I can see why — I thought I had landed in a drama or something with how attractive you all are.”

Hoseok threw his head back with a boisterous laugh, hand coming down to clap Jungkook on the back of his shoulder. “Oh yes, you’ll get along here just fine. Just keep those compliments coming and I’m sure you’ll have us all swooning for you soon too.”

Jungkook didn’t really understand the comment but he took the compliment nonetheless, not having a moment to think on it more when a few cars pulled into line. It was afternoon by the time Yoongi was walking up to the garage, in the same overalls he’d been in the day they met, but this time no shirt on underneath. Jungkook found himself looking at his fairly broad shoulders and the pink skin of his chest, wishing the overalls dipped a bit lower to see if his nipples were just as pink as the rest of him.

“Hot one today,” Yoongi complained, lips in a pout, as he swiped back his dark wavy hair, the pink ends faded a little. “How’s your first day going?”

“Great! I think I’m getting the hang of it,” Jungkook said, smiling wide as he finished drying off the car he was working on.

“Hoba is a great teacher so I have no doubt,” Yoongi said, a look of admiration in his eye as he glanced over to Hoseok who was washing off a car with a hose. “And very pretty to look at, don’t you think?”

Jungkook’s eyes widened for a minute before he blushed and looked over to the other man, who was on his tiptoes to get the hose over the roof of the car. “Yeah, he told me you all are kind of known for that. Well, that people come here to watch you guys wash cars and stuff.”

Yoongi smirked as he folded his arms. “Yeah, it became a thing when Jimin and Seokjin joined on. Those two flaunt their good looks like peacocks so it was only a matter of time before it garnered attention. Plus having Hoba and hyung here got the surfing community's attention too. So we’ve done pretty well for ourselves for the most part. We owe those two alot.”

Jungkook nodded. He was so intrigued by the six other men of Blue Side, of how such different but equally beautiful people could come together in some small corner of the world. It only grew that seed inside him that told him he was exactly where he was supposed to be and that something great was just on the horizon.

The rest of the day went by quickly. Hoseok had to leave a bit before they closed in order to open up the nighttime dive bar he helped run. The late afternoon was calmer than it had been in the morning, but Yoongi had told him the true summer rush hadn’t even begun yet. They had a couple weeks before family visitors began arriving. And then two months before the big week long surfing competition they held that Namjoon, Seokjin and Hoseok were competing in.

“I’m no pro,” Namjoon would tell him later on. “But it’s fun and I love feeling connected to the water. I don’t take surfing as seriously as hyung and Hoba do though.”

When the three of them closed down shop, Taehyung having closed the garage early to go help Jimin with grocery shopping at the local market, Namjoon offered for Jungkook to come out to the beach the next morning before his shift.

“We tend to get there right before sunrise,” he said as he walked Jungkook and his bike to the gate. “Seokjin and Jimin will be there and hyung is always happy to show off his surfing skills to the newbies. You can come hang if you want.”

“Of course! It sounds fun,” Jungkook said, swinging one leg over the bike. “I’ll be there!”

Namjoon gave him that dimpled smile that made butterflies flutter in Jungkook’s stomach. He waved back at him as he started down the street, a frown slipping onto his face as he fought against the hills back to his aunt's house. He really needed to squash this little crush before it became too big. Jungkook was known to go head-over-heels a bit too easily. His crushes getting out of control before he knew it. And he definitely could not be crushing on his boss or his bosses partner after only his first day on the job. He needed to keep the job at Blue Side for as long as he could…

And falling for his already paired up coworkers was not going to end well for his heart or his sad bank account.

🫐🍑

If Jungkook had thought the waves were big yesterday when he’d watched Namjoon and some other surfers, then today they were enormous

He had pulled his bike up and locked it to the rack behind the car wash, a towel resting over his shoulders as he kicked off his sandals as his feet met the sand. Namjoon and Hoseok were already on the beach, both stretching as the smaller bright red haired boy that he’d seen his first day in town sat on a towel between them.

“Jungkook!” Hoseok waved at him, Jungkook waved back as Namjoon and the redhead waved as well.

“Hey!” He said, jogging the final distance up to them, careful not to get sand on their towels.

“Glad you came,” Namjoon said warmly, continuing to stretch out his arms.

“Me too, the waves are crazy,” Jungkook exclaimed, holding on to the ends of his towels after dropping his shoes. He looked down at the boy on the towel, stomach flipping a little because he was…beyond gorgeous. Sensual eyes and delicate features, plump lips with a shining ring in the center of his bottom lip. He watched as he licked over it, lips glistening now in the early morning rays of the sun. “H-hi I’m Jungkook.”

“Park Jimin,” the pretty boy said, tilting his head back, eyes scanning him before meeting his again. “It’s nice to finally meet you. The others haven’t stopped talking about you for days.”

Jungkook flushed as Hoseok and Namjoon groaned.

“Way to out us,” Hobi said, whacking the boy with his shirt. Jimin only giggled, the sound like pretty bells, and Jungkook fell further into deep crush trouble territory. Maybe he wasn’t going to survive this summer.

“Don’t listen to him, Jungkook. We’ve only talked about you a very appropriate number of times,” Namjoon said, giving Jimin a stern look but Jungkook could sense the playfulness in it. “We’re not total weirdos or anything.”

“Put your towel down and sit with me,” Jimin only suggested, ignoring the other two. “Kombucha?”

Jungkook placed his towel down on the fluffy sand, taking the glass jar from Jimin as he settled on the towel. He grimaced slightly as he took a drink. He’d never actually had kombucha before.

“It’s healthy but an acquired taste,” Jimin said after laughing at his scrunched up facial expression.

“He probably overslept again,” Hoseok was saying then. “Missing these waves by pressing snooze a hundred times.”

“Eh, he’ll make it when he makes it. You ready?” Namjoon asked after rolling on a tight surf shirt that accented every dip and groove of his thick muscles.

“Ready when you are!” Hoseok said cheerfully, grabbing his board.

The two then raced down to the water, sand pillowing around their feet as they splashed into the waves. Jungkook watched them and couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm.

“They’re still like little boys when it comes to the water,” Jimin said. “Always so excited to catch those waves no matter having surfed them a hundred times before.”

“Well,” Jungkook said thoughtfully. “I’m sure no wave is truly the same. Each one must feel unique. I can only imagine the thrill of it.”

Jimin rested his elbows on his bent knees as turned to look at him. “Have you never surfed before?”

Jungkook looked to him as well and only regretted it slightly from the intensity in Jimin’s pretty eyes, trying his best not to stare down at his lips. “No, I’ve never even seen the ocean before coming to town. I would like to try it though.”

“Oh you definitely should. I’m not very good at it but Yoongi-hyung and Taehyungie and I like to wakeboard instead. It’s a lot of fun too. We spend so much time in the water I'm surprised none of us have turned into mermen,” Jimin said with another glittering laugh.

“You’d all make very pretty mermen,” Jungkook said before he could stop himself.

Jimin smiled brightly, eyes squinting with it that made him look even more adorable. Jungkook felt his heart beat a little faster in his chest.

“Sorry I’m late!” Someone was shouting from behind them, making them look over their shoulders as a dark haired, broad shouldered man jogged up to them.

“Hyung,” Jimin greeted him. “They just swam out. This is Jungkook! Our newbie. Jungkook, this is our old man, Kim Seokjin.”

“Hey,” Seokjin quipped, smacking at the top of Jimin’s head. “Rude. Nice to meet you Jungkook. I’m not that old.”

Yoongi had been right about Jimin and Seokjin, they were both nearly otherworldly beautiful. While Jimin had delicate features and a certain sensuality to him, Seokjin was all marble statue angles and plush lips and princely looks. He swore he’d seen men like him on covers of magazines and in dramas. The perfect face for a celebrity. No wonder Blue Side had both tourists and locals coming to get their cars washed regularly.

“Hi! And I wouldn’t guess you were,” Jungkook said a little starry eyed as he watched Seokjin pull off his shirt and replace it with a surf shirt. He wasn’t as muscular as Namjoon by any means, but his chest and shoulders were just as broad, slim waist tapering down to a strong v-line. A swimmer's body.

“Got a little drool right there,” Jimin teased, making Jungkook wipe at his mouth with the back of his hand and flush in embarrassment.

“Ah, don’t tease the kid. It’s not every day he gets to see the body of a god,” Seokjin said, flexing a little and posing like a bodybuilder.

“Be careful hyung, or your head might just explode from how big it’s getting,” Jimin said, reaching out to pinch his ankles.

Seokjin only kicked him away as he grabbed his board, but he bent down and kissed Jimin’s cheek a few times, making Jimin giggle, before jogging down to the water. Jungkook couldn't exactly read the interaction. It could have just been overly friendly friends, or Jimin and Seokjin were also a thing

Maybe Blue Side was like some miracle match making place…and Jungkook wondered for a moment if this summer might be his turn to be lucky in love.

“I love to just watch them,” Jimin said dreamily then as they watched Namjoon and Hoseok wait for Seokjin to swim out to them. “They’re so powerful when they’re in the water. It does kind of feel like they could be gods, but don’t tell Seokjin I said that.”

Jungkook chuckled with Jimin at his joke, but as they’d watched them ride out the waves, each one taking turns catching them as they rose towards the shore, Jungkook thought the words might just be true. He’d watched surfing videos on YouTube before but to actually see it in real life was so different. The three men were powerful as they lifted themselves onto the boards, bellies down, and used their arms to propel them towards the swelling wave. Their muscles working hard as they gripped the sides of the boards, waists turning to adjust the board with the wave before standing and slicing through the water until the wave capped and hid them, riding through the barrel before coming out the other end. Jungkook’s body itched to try it, wanting to see if he could get his legs and upper body to cooperate together like they could. To feel the thrill of feeling like he was flying on water.

“Ah you have that look in your eye,” Jimin said then, snapping Jungkook back to the grinning redhead. “I see that look in those three all the time. The need to be out there and riding the waves.”

“It just looks so cool,” Jungkook said, pushing a hand through his growing hair. It was getting long already and he wondered how long he could grow it out before having to cut it short for corporate life. “I really want to try.”

“We can definitely set up a beach day! We close the shop early on Sunday’s, usually after the little breakfast rush. Hoseok teaches kids down by the pier a few times a month, I’m sure he would love to teach you too,” Jimin said with an encouraging smile.

“That would be awesome, I’m sure I won’t be any better than the kids.” Jungkook laughed bashfully.

Jimin hummed as he assessed him again, the look in his eyes making Jungkook shiver even under the warm summer sun. “I think you might surprise yourself.”

After watching the surfers for a couple hours it was time to open Blue Side, Taehyung having joined them a little before taking his first customer in the garage. Today he had his hair tied up in two cute space buns on either side of his head, courtesy of Jimin. Jungkook had watched the two closely as they walked shoulder to shoulder back to the car wash.

These guys must be all really close, he’d thought to himself. Jungkook had to admit he wasn’t the most experienced man in the world. He was no virgin, but he’d also never really been in anything serious. School and work had taken up most of his time in uni so he didn't have much time or emotional effort to carry a relationship. Hookups or fwb’s had been more of his thing instead. Even though he was a bit of a hopeless romantic and longed for the day he would find a partner to love and be devoted too. It just hadn’t happened for him yet.

But he felt like he could be able to tell the difference between being friendly and flirting…and what Taehyung and Jimin were doing was definitely flirting. But then again, he couldn't be so sure. They could all just be that close to each other, allowing for a touchy feely friendship. Which did make Jungkook yearn a little. He just wondered how Hoseok (and maybe Seokjin, if he and Jimin were actually together) felt about that.

His suspicions were unfortunately proven correct a few hours later though when Yoongi sent him to the garage to find Jimin and bring him to help with a new detailing job. Jungkook had wandered into the darker and cooler garage, the sea breeze floating through the open back end when he spotted them.

Taehyung had Jimin sat up on the tool counter — petite legs wrapped around his waist and kissing him as if his life depended on it.

Jungkook could hear the wet sounds of their mouths even from where he stood, his cheeks burning as he froze and just watched. Jimin had his arms lazily thrown over Taehyung’s shoulder, the taller boy's hands on his hips, holding him close. The two broke apart only for air and to giggle before chasing each other’s tongues again.

Oh shit, Jungkook thought, suddenly coming back to his body and looking around in shock. He didn't know what to do with his hands or himself or anything as the two had yet to notice he’d entered the garage. What if he had been Hoseok? Jungkook couldn't believe he was catching Taehyung cheating on their sweet heart-shaped mouth hyung.

What should he do? What should he do? What should he do?

He swore quietly to himself, hating that he was now involved in this as he cleared his throat, making the two only slightly jump apart but not untangle themselves. Jungkook narrowed his eyes.

“Oh, hey Jungkook! What’s up?” Taehyung asked, still shamelessly holding on to Jimin’s hips as if Jungkook hadn’t just caught him two-timing his boyfriend, who was in the main office just on the other end of the building.

“Uh, Yoongi-hyung needs Jimin for detailing,” Jungkook said, swallowing past the dryness in his throat.

Jimin groaned and tapped Taehyung’s shoulder so he could jump down. “He’s always so needy!” He said with a teasing lilt as he skipped back out the opposite garage door, calling out to Yoongi.

Taehyung gave Jungkook a wide smile, as if nothing at all was wrong in the world, and flipped a towel over his shoulder. Jungkook walked back out to his spot at the drying station, face pale and mind reeling.

Should he tell someone? Should he have confronted them? Was it even his business? It was only his second day and from what he could tell already this small beach town was a close knit one. Namjoon practically knew everyone that walked down the street and all the shop owners and workers. It’s the kind of town that would be very hard to keep a secret in. But these two were just openingly kissing each other where anyone could have walked in…

Jungkook felt sick over it for the rest of the day, especially when Hoseok came back and brought everyone lunch. Smiling and happy and blissfully unaware that his boyfriend was making out with one of their friends in the garage just hours before.

It wasn’t until he and Yoongi were alone and sorting and washing the towels at the coin laundry next door that Jungkook finally broke, the guilt weighing too heavily on him. Shit, he was definitely about to lose his job.

“Hyung?” Jungkook said warily as he stood there stiff as a board as Yoongi handed him a pile of folded towels.

Yoongi looked up at him and raised a concerned brow. “Everything ok Jungkook? You look like you’ve seen a ghost. The sun can be a lot for city boys at first, I probably shouldn’t have put you on drying duty all day—.”

“I saw Taehyung-hyung and Jimin-hyung making out in the garage,” Jungkook blurted out, cutting off Yoongi’s soft, concerned mumbling.

Yoongi blinked at the way Jungkook practically shouted the news, a couple of women glancing over to them before going back to their laundry.

“Ah, sorry Jungkook, I told them to cool it down for a little while since you’re so new and I know they can be intense so I…”

Wait, you know? And you haven’t told Hoseok-hyung? Or…or Seokjin-hyung?” Jungkook nearly squeaked. He couldn’t believe this. Yoongi seemed so kind and warm and close to his friends and he was keeping this kind of secret?

“What? Tell them wha—oh.” Yoongi’s eyes suddenly went wide and then his face was turning a pretty shade of pink before he covered his face with both hands.

“Hyung,” Jungkook said carefully before he realized Yoongi’s shoulders were shaking in laughter. Jungkook frowned and felt his ears grow hot.

Yoongi finally looked back up at him, trying to hide his smile. “Jungkook, I’m so sorry,” he said through a giggle. “I thought someone would have told you by now. But…we’re together. Like all of us. Namjoonie, Hoba, Taehyung, Jimin, Seokjin-hyung and, well, me. Like together together.”

Oh. Oh.

Jungkook’s mind blanked out for a second, full on static as if trying to protect itself from combusting at the news. Poly relationships were common, he knew a few people in them during uni. Had thought it might be something interesting to try out himself one day. But he’d never met anyone in such a large one…

“Oh,” Jungkook finally breathed out. “I…I’m oh wow ok I’m shit ok that…that’s good. That’s good . I’m glad because yeah that would have been really shitty. Oh fuck , ah sorry I’m not — I mean that’s totally cool. That’s rad, that’s—.”

“Jungkook, Jungkook you’re fine!” Yoongi said as he patted and rubbed his arm. “We should have been more up front with you when you started. I guess we just didn't want to scare you off. You seem like a really good fit for Blue Side. I hope it doesn’t bother you?”

“No!” Jungkook almost shouted, making those two women glance back to them again. “I mean, no not at all! It’s cool, it’s really cool. And it makes me feel a lot better honestly, I was so worried…”

Yoongi only gave him a sweet gummy smile that made those same butterflies flutter in his stomach when Namjoon gave him the dimple smile. Or when Hoseok laughed. Or when Jimin looked at him like he was something to eat him. Or when Taehyung said something close to him in his deep, velvet voice. Or when Seokjin pushed back his hair and his eyes sparkled at him.

Oh. Oh no.

“That was kind of you to be worried, I’ll definitely scold them later for putting you through that. We should have been more upfront with you…if you decide Blue Side isn’t for you, we would understand,” Yoongi said, trying not to sound too disappointed.

“Hyung, I’m cool with it, I promise. I mean…I’m well, I’m into guys too and so it’s cool to be around others like me,” Jungkook said, wanting to kick himself for sounding so uncool. “I’m not going anywhere, I promise.”

Yoongi hummed in approval as he began tossing more towels into the washer. “I had a feeling you did, I mean I’m pretty sure you nearly drooled all over yourself when you first saw Namjoon.”

Jungkook groaned and buried his face in the folded towels, inhaling the fresh laundry scent to calm himself. Yoongi only laughed.

“It was cute! He has that effect on people. Believe me, I totally understand,” Yoongi said. “But hey, the group of us were thinking of going to R2 Chicken & Beer tonight for dinner. How about you tag along and we can clear the air and make things hopefully not so awkward with you and the others.”

Jungkook raised his head again, pouting slightly. He hoped he wouldn’t be awkward, but maybe it was a good idea to see them all together and get used to the idea of them as such. Hopefully his poor heart could handle being around six very attractive men who were all romantically involved. Or maybe it would finally put him out of his perpetually single misery by making him combust and wither away altogether.

“Sounds like fun hyung.”

🫐🍑

Jungkook and Yoongi were the last to arrive at R2 Chicken & Beer, a shoddily designed Star Wars themed dive that looked like it had weathered many years in it’s spot near the shore. But it smelled delicious inside and felt homey and familiar and had Jungkook’s shoulders relaxing as soon as they walked through the door.

“Jungkook!” Taehyung and Jimin said at the same time, jumping up from their spots on the bench. They each took one his arm as they pulled him towards the table.

“We are so sorry,” Jimin said with a pout. “Yoongi told us what happened, I feel so bad.”

“No wonder you looked like you were about to pass out, I thought it was just the heat! What can we do to make it up to you?” Taehyung asked as they plopped him down between them on their side of the bench.

“Probably by letting him breathe would be a start,” Seokjin said from across the table, body pressed up against Namjoon who had a thick arm resting over the back of their seats. Yoongi immediately sat down on Hobi’s lap, who was sitting in a lone chair at the head of the table.

“It’s fine guys, really. I’m just glad I was wrong, and I should have never assumed that in the first place, I’m sorry,” Jungkook said, looking around the table apologetically.

“It’s in no way your fault,” Hoseok said, arms wrapped around Yoongi’s waist as Yoongi placed one arm around his neck while the other reached for a chilled beer glass. “It was a misunderstanding.”

“And it seems like everything is forgiven then,” Namjoon said, voice deep and husky as he patted Hoseok's thigh before rubbing Yoongi’s back. Jungkook knew he was always going to notice every small touch between them now. Because those small touches were something he had always craved.

“Of course,” Jimin and Taehyung said at the same time, beaming at each other.

“Yes, forgiven and forgotten,” Jungkook said with a wave of his hand, the others relaxing. “So, I’m guessing the beef and wine are good here?”

The others blinked at him a moment before he was smiling shyly and ducking his head. “Joking!”

“Ah, funny man,” Seokjin said with a wide smile as the others all laughed, relaxing a little more as Namjoon reached out to pour the pitcher of beer into the empty glasses.

They ordered rounds of beer and baskets of fried chicken, Jungkook practically moaning at the juicy salty taste of the chicken. He hadn’t had such a good cheap and greasy meal in a long while. His aunt tended to eat mainly vegetarian, which he didn’t mind, but this was much more to his taste. They chatted happily between each other, telling Jungkook a little more about the town and what to do while he was staying here. Offered to take him to get ice cream and cheese dogs at the pier, and hike up to the Whistling Cliffs, and to the breakfast place with the grass rooftop and the coconut pancakes and pineapple syrup.

“Oh, Hoba, Jungkook’s looking for surfing lessons,” Jimin said through a mouthful of chicken, gently shouldering Jungkook.

Hoseok let out a happily surprised sound. “Oh yeah? I’m down whenever, free of charge!”

Jungkook swallowed his chicken and shook his head. “Ah, I couldn't expect it for free hyung.”

“How about a beer or two then?” Hoseok suggested with a wink. “And maybe I’ll have you wax the boards at our house.”

Jungkook nodded with a bright smile. “Of course! Sounds like a deal. Uh…so, I know you’re all together but do you live together too?”

The others fell quiet a moment, still chewing away at the chicken and side dishes, allowing for Namjoon to answer. “Yeah, my father left me some land he’d been wanting to build a house on when my mom was still alive. He had blueprint plans and everything, so a few years ago I took on the project. We were all together at that point, so I had to make a few adjustments. Give us enough space for six. It’s nothing fancy, all one level ranch style but it’s open and surrounded by a lot of greenery. We have a pool, hot tub, koi pond and a garden. Like our own little oasis.”

Jungkook looked at him with starry eyes. “It sounds like it. That’s amazing. What a dream. I lived in a dorm room for years and then a shitty apartment. I could never imagine building my own house. That’s so cool, hyung.”

“Well he didn't do it alone,” Seokjin said with a teasing tone. “We helped a lot, I carried so many piles of wood I had splinters for weeks. Does that make me a cool hyung too?”

The others groaned but Namjoon only laughed and leaned over to kiss the side of Seokjin’s neck. “Makes you a very cool hyung.”

“Yeah,” Jungkook agreed, a little breathless. “Really cool.”

“I want to be a cool hyung too,” Taehyung pouted, eyes glassy from probably a little too much beer.

“You’re all really cool!” Jungkook explained. “Probably the coolest people I’ve ever met.”

“You flatter us,” Yoongi said with a warm smile.

“It’s true, and now knowing you’re together and living your best lives makes you even cooler. Surfers, business owners, home builders. The coolest,” Jungkook continued, the beer loosening his tongue and maybe making him speak a little too fondly and a little too loudly. He hardly knew these guys. But could he be blamed? They were gorgeous and their attention on him was nearly addictive.

“I’m glad you’re so cool with it,” Jimin said, resting a chin on his open palm as he held his beer glass in the other. “Wish everyone was like you.”

Jungkook frowned. “Do you get shit for it?”

“Not often,” Namjoon said quickly. “The town is pretty open, it’s the tourists and travelers that sometimes find out and have things to say. We’ve had a couple vandalism incidents at the shop, nothing serious though.”

“That’s fucked up,” Jungkook said, voice a little slow. “No one has any right to judge anyone else. When you find something good in life you gotta hold onto it. Or well, that’s what my dad always says.”

The others looked between him and Namjoon as the bigger man’s expression softened. “Yeah, my dad said the same thing. I…well Taehyung, actually painted it across the top of our front entrance at the house. ‘Hold onto the good things in life.’”

Jungkook felt those butterflies again when he looked at Namjoon and then around at the others, each of them looking at each other like they’d all go to the ends of the earth for each other. Like the sun, moon, and stars hung in the sky only because of them. It made Jungkook ache.

“So…how did you all meet? Seems pretty serendipitous to have found so many good matches,” Jungkook asked, clearing his throat as he sipped at his beer. “I can’t even find one, and you found five each.”

They all laughed at his comment, Hoseok and Jimin cooing a bit.

“It’s a fairly long story, but the short version is that Namjoon and I met at university,” Yoongi began, adjusting himself over onto Namjoon’s lap instead to give Hoseok a break. “We were close friends, hooked up a couple times, and I wasn’t doing much after we graduated so I came to help him when his father fell sick. And I haven’t left since.”

Namjoon brushed his nose over Yoongi’s before leaning in a bit more to kiss him gently. Watching them made Jungkook feel even warmer than the beer and chicken did.

“And then we found Hoba, who was this scrappy little up and coming surfer,” Yoongi said, reaching back to hold Hoseok’s hand.

“And they charmed me right into their bed before I knew it,” Hoseok laughed as he kissed Yoongi's knuckles.

“I don’t recall it being that easy,” Yoongi deadpanned. “You were playing hard to catch.”

“No, Hobi just didn’t know you were flirting with him,” Seokjin said with a snort. “Boy’s oblivious until you have his cock in your mouth.”

“Hyung!” Hoseok shrieked as the others howled with laughter, the restaurant's other patrons looking over to them. “So vulgar!”

“It’s kinda true,” Namjoon chuckled, earning a playful smack from Hoseok.

“And then came me!” Taehyung chirped happily. “Joon hyung was looking for someone to help build and operate a garage attached to the car wash and I had just finished trade school. I landed right in his lap!”

“Literally,” Namjoon said, laughing and looking adoringly at Taehyung. “He got so drunk at Pier House, the local club, he tumbled right onto my lap and we had to take him home and take care of him. He was so embarrassed the next day he cleaned our entire apartment in gratitude.”

“Thankfully I can hold my liquor a bit better now,” Taehyung said, blushing.

“Can you?” Jimin asked teasingly, reaching behind Jungkook to tuck a loose strand of curls behind Taehyung’s ear.

“And then I graced this town with my presence and rocked their world,” Seokjin said, his voice airy and important, getting the others to groan. He only laughed at them, ears growing red. “My car broke down on my way to my family's beach house miles from here. Taehyung and Yoongi fixed her right up, but it took awhile. I hung around with them and well…it took me a little while to figure out this was where I needed to be. But I found my way back eventually.”

“And we’re glad you did,” Yoongi rumbled, brushing his fingers across Seokjin’s red hot ear. “We wouldn’t be the same without you.”

“And I was last,” Jimin said with a sly smile. “But definitely not least. I came here seeking some sun and sea therapy and met Taehyung and Hoseok at the cafe. I was desperate for friends as I was pretty used to always being surrounded by people. They saw right through me though from the very first day, I don’t miss my city life as much now.”

“Ah,” Jungkook said. “So you’re the fellow city boy.”

“Guilty,” Jimin said with a laugh. “But not anymore. I much prefer small town coastal life now.”

“Is that it, or is the fact you have five boyfriends ready to serve you at your every beck and call? Needy little thing,” Yoongi teased, earning him some kicks under the table which Namjoon quickly saved him from.

“Play nice, kittens,” he rumbled deep in his chest.

Jungkook shivered at the tone and implications in his voice. Kittens. That was cute and suited the two smallest of the group well.

“Don’t embarrass Jungkook more than we already have,” Hoseok said lightheartedly.

“If he’s gonna stick around awhile the poor boys gonna have to get used to it,” Seokjin said, winking at Jungkook. “If you think these two making out in the garage was bad…you haven’t seen nothing yet.”

The group hung out a little while long before Yoongi and Jimin began to get sleepy and pouty. Both demanding to be carried out of the shack and to the awaiting rides home. Taehyung lifted Jimin easily, placing him on the back of his motorcycle and snapping his helmet, with two cute cat ears decorating it, on his head.

“You want a ride, Jungkook? We can attach your bike to the back of the Jeep,” Namjoon asked, Yoongi clinging to his back as he opened the back door to gently place him inside.

Jungkook was exhausted from the day and his stomach was heavy so he happily took the offer. He helped Seokjin attach the bike to the back of the Jeep before the oldest got into the driver seat, Jungkook taking the last seat in the back.

“Orange Grove Street, number 198,” Jungkook instructed, Namjoon directing Seokjin down side streets for a few miles before reaching Jungkook’s Aunts pale yellow two story house.

“Cute!” Hoseok explained as they pulled into the gravel drive. “I’ve always liked this street, so colorful.”

“It’s nice,” Jungkook said as he opened the door. “My aunt wants to put up a fence soon and paint it pink. I don’t know how I feel about that.”

“Pink is a great color,” Yoongi mumbled, head resting back on the seat and eyes closed, Hoseok petting his hair.

“It is,” Jungkook agreed, eyes lingering on them a moment before blushing and jumping down.

“Do you need help?” Namjoon asked, opening his car door.

“I got it!” Jungkook called back, unlatching the bike and taking it down. He pushed it around the side towards the front of the house, the four hyung’s watching him carefully.

“Sleep well! Remember your shift doesn’t start until 11:30 tomorrow. Sleep in while you can,” Hoseok said.

“Thanks! See you tomorrow!” Jungkook waved back.

Jungkook did notice that Seokjin didn’t drive off until he had secured his bike in the shed and unlocked the side door, waving a final time before he entered the house. He felt those butterflies again, thinking back over the day and evening and wondering about what they would all do when they got home. Would they all go to sleep or…would they do other things? Jungkook tried to shake the thoughts away as he turned on the shower, letting the warm water wash away the sweat and suntan lotion and stress of the day. But his thoughts wandered anyway…

Did they all sleep in the bed? That would probably be too much, most of them were pretty large. Especially Namjoon. He would probably take up a big portion of a bed. Unless they had it specially made. But Namjoon had mentioned he’d built the house to fit six. So maybe they all had their own rooms too, and they just shared with whoever wanted too. Did they have a sleeping schedule? Did some like sleeping alone or did they like being cuddled like Jungkook did?

The thought suddenly made him sad. His heart thumping painfully in his chest. Of how single he suddenly felt. He couldn’t remember the last time he had been cuddled in his sleep. He wondered what it would be like to be cuddled by six other partners…

Namjoon had said he’d made the house specially for six. Meaning there was no room for anyone else. That they probably didn't have plans to bring anyone else into their relationship. Their house was their own, already full of their own memories and love. They probably had no need to look for anything anywhere else. Six was a good even number. Seven would have been too much…

The thought made him feel sick. Made him feel a sense of loss that he knew he shouldn’t be feeling. Had no reason to be feeling. He was their coworker and employee. They wouldn’t even consider him a friend yet let alone anything more. Jungkook shook his head again. He was being silly. And a romantic. Despite them being in an unusual situation, it did not mean he was suddenly dropped into a romantic drama where these six gorgeous men were going to welcome him into their open arms and bed. They probably only saw him as the awkward young guy he was, not a viable and attractive partner.

Jungkook groaned as he pulled on his sleep clothes and looked at himself in the foggy bathroom mirror. He wasn’t anything special and he knew he would never be anything more to them, no matter what he might feel. Why would they want him?

But the fact didn't stop him from daydreaming about it as he laid down for bed. As he turned on his sound machine and stared up at the glow in the dark stars and moons stuck on his ceiling. Imagining situations where he was smushed between multiple bodies, hands all over him and lips and tongues pulling pleasure from him. Imagined words of gentle affirmations and horny need lulling him sleep until he was dreaming  of deep oceans and suntanned skin and six sets of hands pulling him blissfully under.

But what Jungkook didn’t know was that across town, in the comfort of their largest bed in their main bedroom, six lovers were naked and cuddling after one of their quickest orgy sessions to date.

Chests rising and falling quickly, still trying to catch their breaths after tumbling into bed, tearing off clothes, lips and tongues finding all the sensitive places. It had been awhile since they’d felt so feverish and needy, hands tugging and teeth nipping. Bruising kisses leading to loud moans of ecstasy as someone hogged the lube and another used only spit and need. They’d held hands as they fucked each other into the bed, switching partners halfway through even though one of them came too quickly and tears of over sensitivity flowed as they were bent over. But that was exactly how they liked it anyways.

Namjoon combed his fingers through the red hair in his lap as he sat back against the headboard, steadying his heart rate and looking over the moonlit bodies of his lovers. They were slowly falling asleep one by one, satisfied and content, but Namjoon couldn’t find it in him to close his eyes. There was something in the back of his mind telling him that something big was coming. Just out of reach but it was coming fast. And he wouldn’t be able to stop it when it did.

He hoped whatever it was would not disrupt the peace he felt now, sated and blissed out with his heart exactly where it should be. But a part of him felt that a certain bunny smile, starry-eyed newbie had a big part of what was to come…
