Notes:

I'm fulfilling the /p married Purpled & Tommy agenda

Work Text:

“Papa. Papa. PAPA!”

Purpled groaned, cracking his eyelids apart to see Shroud standing at the bedside, looking slightly annoyed. Tommy lay sleeping beside him, despite being a very light sleeper.

“Shroud? What’s up?” Purpled muttered quietly, not wanting to wake up Tommy.

“I’m hungry and you told me not to wake Mama up unless it’s an emergency.” Shroud said, pouting slightly.

“Oh. Uh, give me a second bud, then I can make you something.” Purpled said, sitting up slowly and stretching his arms.

“Pancakes?” Shroud said, giving Purpled puppy dog eyes.

“Uh...Sure.” Purpled said, despite lacking any cooking ability. It’s not that he couldn’t cook, it’s just that it left permanent marks in the kitchen and a subsequently annoyed Tommy.

“Yay!” Shroud cheered. Purpled winced at the tone as Tommy shifted slightly, turning to face the two as he opened his eyes. He yawned as he sat up afterwards leaning against Purpled.

“Oops, sorry mama.” Shroud said apologetically.

“It’s ok, baby. I was awake anyway,” Shroud smiled and scrambled up onto the bed to hug Tommy who reciprocated with a smile,”Purp, did I hear something about pancakes?” Tommy said as he ran his fingers through Shroud’s hair.

“I told Shroud I’d make him some for breakfast.” Purpled said.

“You?” Tommy questioned, looking slightly amused as he looked up at Purpled.

“Yes, me! I’m a professional mercenary, I think I can handle a bit of cooking.” Purpled, defended, crossing his arms.

“Alright. Well you’d better not burn down the kitchen.” Tommy said, still looking skeptical. Shroud giggled before adding,”Again.”

“Gasp! Both my son and husband are against me. Have a little bit of confidence in me, you two! I’ve cooked before! It wasn’t that bad.” Purpled argued, defensively. Shroud wrinkled his nose, looking like he disagreed.

“Purp. I love you (/p) but you don’t have a good track record with the kitchen.” Tommy said.

“Name one time I failed at cooking.” Purpled said, despite knowing full well there were at least ten different situations that opposed his statement.

“The first night I moved in. You nearly burnt down the whole UFO because you were trying to impress me by making apple pie with gapples.” Tommy pointed out.

“And when Mama was sick. You burnt soup. Grandma Puffy had to bring some over.” Shroud said.

“And let’s not forget when Puffy came over for dinner one time. You said you would heat up the pie she brought over. You heated the oven to four thousand degrees so it would heat in one minute.” Tommy added, looking very amused.

“Ok, ok, I get it! But I’ve learned, I can make pancakes!” Purpled said confidently.

As it turns out, he had not learned.

“Purpled what the fudge?!” Tommy shrieked as he held Shroud to his chest, standing on the counter as Purpled fought off the pancake mix come to life.

“I don’t know!” Purpled yelled back, slashing at the mob taking residence in their kitchen.

“How the fuc--fudge did you turn the pancake mix into a living thing?!” Tommy yelled. Shroud gripped Tommy’s cardigan tightly, his face buried in Tommy’s chest.

“I don’t know! I think I might have grabbed something from the potions cabinet instead of the others!” Purpled exclaimed as he killed the last of the monsters.

“Dear Prime, XD, Notch, please excuse my husband’s stupidity.” Tommy said, sighing. Shroud giggled and Tommy gave him a smile.

“Hey!” Purpled said.

“Shroud, what do you think about getting some breakfast at McPuffy’s after we help your dad clean up this mess.” Tommy said, looking exasperated. Purpled gave Tommy a grateful look.

“Yay! McPuffy’s, McPuffy’s!” Shroud cheered, looking excited. Tommy and Purpled both smiled at their son’s jubilation. The spider hybrid squirmed out of Tommy’s arms and onto the counter climbing onto the floor.

His face twisted into confusion. “The floor is sticky.” Shroud pointed out.

“I’ll get the mop.” Purpled said, looking down at the syrup covered floor.

“That’s a good idea.” Tommy said, getting down from the counter. He slipped on part of the pancake mix, Purpled trying to catch him but falling on the process.

The two landed in a jumbled mess, both now covered in pancake mix, syrup, and pancake bits.

“I suspect a shower is in our future.” Purpled joked, disentangling from Tommy.

“Yeah. This has been quite the morning.” Tommy said, laughing.

“Hey papa, this actually tastes pretty good!” Shroud said, holding up a piece of pancake.

“It does?” Shroud nodded in confirmation. “Haha victory! Boom! I told you I cook!” Purpled exclaimed, looking smug.

“Oh Prime.” Tommy said, rolling his eyes in both amusement and exasperation.
