Work Text:
All his life, Salo had been close friends with his name-mate Mika Häkkinen as they lived in the very same street in Vantaa, Finland. They’d even stayed friends throughout puberty, when most friendships were broken due to the issue of secondary gender.
Many Omegas didn’t want to be friends with Alpha boys, as their future partner might get the wrong idea.
Alphas were seen as violent, and an Omega should do anything to appeal to their mercy to make the relationship work.
During that very period, the Alpha began to develop feelings for his Omega friend. Feelings that were beyond lust which he’d felt for many Beta women and Omegas, feelings that went deep down to his core.
Mika just had to fall in love with a jackass rich Alpha man who was already married, had a bit of a reputation for fooling around with many different mistresses, and rumoured to have multiple children with some of those mistresses.
Salo was just so bloody angry when he saw that man handing his fellow Finn a bouquet with luscious flowers, that he keyed the man’s black Ferrari hard.
He never got caught for that.
Anger just welled up in him every time he saw his friend with that man, whether it was just a simple gaze or a firm snog. He couldn’t stand it that that type of man was able to seduce an innocent soul like Mika.
Salo was looking angrily at the bouquet of flowers, waiting until they'd spontaneously combust.
Once more his childhood friend had been on a date with the other Alpha, and by the fact that there were Alpha pheromones all over him the Finn could deduce they'd gone a bit further than just kissing today.
“Why are you always in such a bad mood?” the Omega asked.
“Because the person I loves prefers jackasses.”
The younger Finn raised an eyebrow. “What’s a jackass in your book?”
“A person who doesn’t give a shit about other people and is very egoistic.” Salo replied.
“You sure you’re not just jealous?” Mika asked.
“Of course I am.” the Alpha yelled. “That arrogant bastard has everything I want. How can you not see that that man you’re dating is just using you!?”
It took the Omega a couple seconds to get it registered that he was the object of his friend’s affection. “Salo… Michael’s not abusive. He actually loves me.”
“How can you say that?” the taller man asked. “How can you not see what he’s doing? Have you not heard the rumours about him having at least six hundred mistresses?”
“And his number of mistresses make him unworthy of love?”
Salo scoffed. “Of your love? Yes. You just deserve better. Someone who isn’t a total douchebag, walks into everywhere like he owns the place and isn’t generally considered trustworthy in the area of sexual relations. He’s a manwhore, Mika, and you deserve more than him.”
The younger looked at the flowers in the vase. “I think he is worthy of my love, Salo. I’m really touched that you’re looking out for me, but I think your judgement is clouded by your jealousy.”
“Please, Hak, just think this through.”
Mika sighed. “Sal, you need to get your green-eyed monster under control first. Please, I need you to leave until you’ve calmed down. I don’t want you to try sabotaging my relationship.”
“Hak…”
“No, Sal. Please, go.”
The Alpha knew he’d blown it then and there.
He never should’ve said anything.
