Work Text:
He doesn't know when it starts. When he looks at Beomgyu and sees more than the long strands of his hair, the bridge of his nose that swoops down to his lips that become mountains. He doesn't know when he started seeing love grow onto his face.
They say that mountains are still things, that nature has condemned them to be present while the world moves on around them. His lips move mountains, they speak of mundane things and make them magical. He looks at Beomgyu and knows he is witnessing the beginning of creation with every word that passes through his lips. The mountain is still, but it is all he sees.
But maybe that isn't quite right. Beomgyu grounds him, makes him feel like the earth after a rain storm, bound to the earth but in a way that makes him feel reverent. But he looks at Beomgyu again and he feels like he is witnessing the sun's rays find their way to earth, he cannot help it when his finger tips graze his cheek. It prickles him. But it makes him want. The warmth of the sun within his grasp but all he touches is the soft plains of his lover's face. He thinks of science lessons and thinks about the solar system. There's something about this moment in this coffee shop that makes him ponder about the way the planets make the sun their centre - the compass that guides their movement. He thinks he understands what it means to be so devoted.
"Taehyun-ah, are you listening to me?"
He nods and watches Beomgyu's lips part. A soft giggle exhales. He is happy, amused even if he does not believe Taehyun is telling the truth. He grasps his hand, like an anchor at the end of a long and difficult voyage across the seas and in that gesture, Taehyun feels the weight of his past, present and future.
He doesn't know when it starts but he knows there is no end. There is no loving anyone else when you've been so fortunate to be loved by Choi Beomgyu. There is no other soul so deserving of such devotion.
