Chapter Text
K_K likes the loud, the energetic, the crazed--there's just something about that explosiveness, the restless can't stop moving kind of energy that draws them in.
It's why they liked Cyber City so much, despite the weirdly altered atmosphere. You think you're in there for an hour and when you get back to your buds it's 3 in the morning and you just got swindled out of your cash by a funky smelling puppet man in a dumpster.
Memories. Maybe he could look for that funny little puppet man sometimes? He could bring a bagel for them!
Bass shakes the wall, jangling the decorative CD curtains he'd made some weeks ago. K_K lets itself immerse in the vibes--counting the beats as he whisks his lemon-scented batter. Should he make cupcakes? Or maybe the gang would prefer cookies? It checks the time, wondering if he could afford to make more batter.
The beat drops low and pulses through his system and K_K twirls, head swinging and hip popping. Sweet was on to something here, they could feel it. Too bad they were keeping it secret though, Cap only got them to play a section of it because of a bet.
Oh well, it's not like it wouldn't hear the whole thing eventually. And even if Sweet decided to keep it on their personal track, it's not like they'd mind at all. Everyone has a little something just for them after all!
Like his lemon drops! K_K drops the last of the batter in the tray and pops it into the oven, making sure the latch clicked close. He sets a timer for 25 minutes and clears away his mess to soak in their sink, popping another sweetly-sour lemon drop in its mouth.
Sweet's tune fades into a jazzier, smoother piece. Seemed like Cap took over the playlist. It recognizes the catchy upbeat tempo and remembers the lyrics they came with.
"Hm~ Hm~ Neon signs and wire lines~" it sings, snapping it's fingers to match their mental count. This was one of Cap's faster ones--one that he was commissioned for by some snazzy club in the city. He hears trumpets blow and starts sashaying his way into their music room.
Sweet was on their board again, fixing up new jets. It mentally notes that a new coat of paint is in order. Maybe they could haggle some spray paint from Addison Blue. They were always more lenient with their prices. Maybe they could even wrangle Cap into it, make it a surprise event and everything.
Though, how to smuggle out the board without Sweet noticing? Maybe they should enlist Cap's help. Cap always knew how to smuggle things out of sight.
(Like a newly built, fresh from the factory defective robot, for example. Barely even deviating from the base program and shaking in its banged-up box. The only model of its kind left.)
Sweet's snapping in front of his optics startles him a half step back until he remembers. Cap's piece was building to its crescendo, something not unlike swing beats. K_K sways in place to the beat, grinning at Sweet's questioning look. They were fine, things were okay now, and he loves his life in the present.
He had the other two with him, his cupcakes were baking in the oven, and his chassis was shiny and clear of any cuts and gashes of the past. The beat drops once again and K_K revels in how something as simple as sound made his insides rattle with the urge to move.
This is why he loves their Shop. There's just so much of everything that makes him feel alive--his chassis whirring to keep him from overheating with the movement and music.
There's just something about it, you know? How the CRASH-BOOM-BANG of a track kickstarts his speakers and pulls the song and the sound right outta his core.
And with his Sweetling and darling Cap with him on stage? Their systems working overtime to keep their tempo to match the crowd's energy?
There isn't much that beats that kind of rush, he thinks.
