Chapter Text

Hushed voices sound from behind some bushes.

"Are you serious right now?!"

"Yes! I am serious right now!"

"I cannot believe I let you drag me into this!"

"Ok, ok. Shhh. Keep your voice down. Maybe if we-"

The clearing of someone's voice stops Siyeon and Yubin in their tracks. They both slowly turn around, only to find none other than the one they were hiding from. Their neighbor from across the street. Kim Minji.

Well shit.

-

The two friends at least had the decency to feel a little uncomfortable with the situation. Yubin was especially feeling nervous and a little out of place as she and Siyeon sat in the living room of Minji's house.

Minji comes out of the kitchen with a tray of filled with drinks and other refreshments. "I gotta say, it's nice to finally have some guests over, despite the circumstances. Ever since moving here not too long ago, I haven't had the time to really get to know my neighbors."

"We are really sorry for snooping around."

"Uh, yeah we are. Your yard just... looks really nice." she finishes lamely.

Yubin discreetly gives her a look.

"Thank you. I did most of it myself."

It doesn't seem like Minji can see through the blatant lie.

"Hmmm, so, it was about the curb appeal and not the appeal of the hot new neighbor huh?"

Okay. So she did.

Siyeon and Yubin both freeze in the middle of reaching for a snack.

Minji leans forward in her seat. "Oh, please. Did you two really expect to not get caught? In broad daylight?"

The two culprits were at a loss for words.

"Okay. How about we talk about the why instead? How long have you been crushing on me Siyeon?"

Siyeon chokes on her water and Yubin pales. The both of them shocked at being figured out.

"You thought I wouldn't notice? That's cute. I mean it was pretty easy to do so. While I spent all those hours outside in my front yard, how could I not do a bit of observing myself?"

"A few months now." Siyeon answers.

Yubin stood up looking a little nervous. "Uh, so, we really appreciate the refreshments, but we should probably-"

"Definitely longer than Yubin here."

Well, shit. Again.

Siyeon immediately turned to Yubin, who wouldn't meet her eyes, with surprise covering her face.

Minji turns towards Siyeon. "Oh? You didn't know? Well, it is a fairly new revelation and she does seem to be the type to keep to herself about these things, so..."

-

The sun was just starting to set by the time they left Minji's place. Having been embarrassed enough to last them two lifetimes, the two decided to just make the short trek back home and relax for the rest of the day.

It wasn't until they finally made it inside and to the couch, that Yubin started wailing punches on the other, albeit softly.

"You idiot!"

"Hey, hey! I'm sorry ok?!"

Yubin calmed down after that. "I still can't believe everything that has happened in the past four hours."

"I still can't believe you also had a crush on Minji. How come you didn't say anything?"

"Because. That's all I thought it was at the time. Just some crush. And besides, how was I supposed to say anything when I was also dealing with my growing feelings for you. Which are apparently mutual?" Yubin turned towards Siyeon, who had a sheepish look on her face.

"Well, it was very hard to tell if you liked me back and I of course didn't want to ruin our friendship. Besides, I figured, once I started crushing on Minji, my feelings for would go away."

"But they didn't."

"No, they didn't."

"Well, that's the last time I ever let you drag me into anything."

"Hey, look on the bright side. At least it got us a date with her."
