Chapter Text
"Um excuse me?" I say as I walk up to a group of boys. "Yeah?" One of the four boys says. He looks around my age. He has black hair and is clearly muscular under his clothes. "Um I was wondering where the pool is?" I say shyly. "Oh we are just going to the pool so follow us" one with light brown hair says. "Ok thank you" I say and follow them. "Are you here for the girls water polo?" The first guy who talked to me asked. "Oh no I'm here for the swim team" I say laughing a little. "Do you guys play water polo?" I ask and they nod. We make it too the pool and it is gorgeous. "Ah y/n there you are" my coach says. "Hi coach!" I say enthusiastically. "Thank you for bringing y/n here" my coach says. "Oh no problem" says one with a shaved head. "We have to get to practice. Bye" a guy with shorter black hair and a stoic face says and they leave.
"Looks like you met the water polo team" my coach says as we walk around deck. "Yeah. They seem.. intense. But nice" I say thinking carefully. "Yeah they are set to be japans best in junior high. Their coach is very intense. He does things a little more differently than we do" he (coach) says. "Ah really" I say looking at the pool. "Well I'll show you around and then we can watch their water polo practice. Did you bring your swimsuit?" He asks and I nod. "Ok well maybe you can get in after they finish just to get a feel of the pool" he says and we are by the door. "Ok that sounds great" I say.
Coach shows me the locker rooms, and the different entrances and exits. We also look at some of the vending machines. By the time we get back on deck the water polo team is in the pool. "Wow this place is huge" I say as we sit on some chairs on the deck. "Yeah it sure is" my coach says. "So here's the schedule. Practice is everyday, and it'll be before the water polo team practices. So practice starts at 3:30 and ends at 5:30, though their practice doesn't start until 6:00, so we have some time to drag it out" he says. "Ok I'll remember that" I say. "I have some paper work to fill out, but I'll just be in the office. You can come in if you need anything" he says and walks off. Great I'm stuck on deck for an hour or so. I think I should read to pass the time.
*time skip like 30 minutes*"Y/n the coach says that they will be done in 30 minutes and you can get in after. You can change and stretch now if you'd like" my coach says and I nod. I go into the change rooms and pull off my sweats. I put my swim suit on under, but I don't think it's appropriate to strip on deck in front of a bunch of people I don't know. I walk back into deck in my swim suit but I keep my pants on. I don't want to get too cold.
I wait a few more minutes before I start stretching. I do some dynamic stretches and some static stretches. Just trying to warm my body up so I don't catch a cramp. My swim cap and goggles are in between my skin and my swim suit strap. I pull off my pants as I hear the water polo coach blow his whistle signalling that practice is over. I see him talk to them while they are in the water and then he sits down. "Y/n you can go over there and get in now" my coach says and I nod. I walk along the deck until I am at the front of the pool. "So you must be the swimmer" the water polo coach says in a deep voice. "Oh yes that's me. Thank you for letting me swim right now" I say graciously. "No problem at all. Some of the boys might be cooling down, so please be careful they often don't look where they are going" he says and I nod.
Some of the boys are on the deck, or sitting at the edge of the pool, while others are still in the pool. Most of them are looking at me though. I put on my cap and goggles and dip my toes in the water. "Cold" I says quietly trying not to squeak. "Come on y/n let's go" my coach says I groan. I take a deep breath and dive in. I swim to the other end of the pool and stop. The cold waking me up. I bob a few times and then continue swimming. I do a basic warm up and I'm finally warm. I stop at the wall and one of the boys from earlier is by me. "You're a pretty good swimmer" he says and I thank him. "By the way I'm minato" he says and sticks out his hand. "I'm y/n" I say and shake his hand.
