Chapter Text
Morgan felt nervous as they walked up to the convention center. Despite being a villain for five years, they never felt the need to attend a villain convention. Seemed kinda boring, especially when they could be planning a Walmart heist. Maybe around Christmas, they are in need of some new Christmas decorations.
“ID?” the front desk lady droned while looking at her phone.
“Um, ID?” Morgan asked nervously. They never heard of needing an ID for the convention.
“First time?” the front desk lady somehow droned on and snapped at them at the exact same time.
“Yeah,” Morgan started shifting around. Maybe planning the Walmart Christmas heist would be a better use of time.
“Name?”
“Mor-wait real or villain?” Morgan barely stopped themself from saying their real name in front of everyone.
“Villain name, why would you think of giving away your civilian identity in costume in public? Probably an F tier.” the front desk lady snapped. Dang, what was this, high school lunchroom? No need to be so judgy.
“Ecstasy! My name’s Ecstasy!” Morgan quickly called out before the front lady could insult them anymore.
“Ah, looks like you’re an E tier. Take a right over to the low-level villains.” the front lady sassed out.
“I actually looked online, it said I could move up a tier with owning capital. I own an apartment complex.” Morgan put in before the front desk lady could move on.
“Let’s see…looks like your capital ownership wasn't added to your profile. I’ll get your D tier ID printed as only D tiers and above get an ID.” the front lady started speaking with a kinder tone. Morgan shuffled as the ID got printed. “Here you go. Take a left and enjoy the villain con.”
Morgan grabbed the ID and went down the left hallway. Tugging their jacket tighter, they felt quite small with all the many extremely powered villains around. Like an insect among gods. Well, maybe the food will be okay. Looking at some of the red drinks, Morgan changed his mind. Most likely blood.
“Ecstasy!”a loud voice boomed. Turning, Morgan saw a familiar face. Bright blue eyes with bright blue hair wearing too much blue. Smiling, Morgan turned to hug their childhood best friend. As the two embraced, Morgan bit their lips to keep from squeaking from the icy hug.
“Ditzy! Cold as ever I see, how have you been?” Morgan let go and pulled out of the hug.
“Just the regular, freezing monuments and killing any new hero that tries to be my nemesis. I just can’t get over my favorite nemesis joining the dark side,” Ditzy said with a smirk.
“I guess no one can top how awesome I am?” Morgan joked back. It was a common thing for them to joke about since Morgan was first a hero as they came from a family of heroes. Ditzy was their first nemesis before they rebelled and became a villain.
“Well, it's nice to see you but I gotta go find Haxs to talk about something. See you later?” Ditzy asked with a pleading look.
“Course, maybe we can meet up at the ice cream shop after the con?” Morgan smiled with their best poker face.
“Sounds perfect!” Ditzy smiled as she skipped off. Morgan glanced around before going over to the nearest wall to lean against.
“Finally somewhere quiet.”
Morgan looked over to see someone with a black cape and gothic clothes come over to lean next to them.
“Hey, I’m Ecstasy, pronouns are they/them. What’s your name and pronouns?” Morgan asked with a genuine smile, hoping to make a friend. The other looked a bit surprised before answering.
“They call me Catastrophe. I’m a they/them. Why didn’t you just assume I was a guy like everyone else?” Catastrophe asked, slightly confused by the villain in regular clothes next to them.
“Just a decent thing to do I guess?” Morgan answered before pausing. “Wait, why do you look so familiar?” Morgan looked Catastrophe over before realizing something.
“Wait, weren’t you that squirmy kid in that flower and tattoo shop?” Catastrophe asked. Morgan blushed for a second before pulling up their poker face.
“Yeah, that was quite a few years ago. I remember you were trying to figure out which flowers to get some enemy of yours that would state ‘Fuck you’ in flower language or something.” Morgan continued as they remember that day from when he was becoming a villain. “So, looks like we both made it to the big leagues for villains?” Morgan said with a laugh. Catastrophe chuckled back.
“That was quite a day,” Catastrophe stated in a reminiscent tone.
“Wanna hang out sometime?” Morgan asked before their nerves could get to them.
“Sure, I’m free next Tuesday,” Catastrophe answered. They never really hanged out with anyone. Well, at least not with anyone that wasn’t trying to use their high status to make themselves look better.
“I should be free then, maybe we can meet up at that flower and tattoo shop around 2?” Morgan continued, making a mental note to themselves about the activity.
“Sounds like a plan.”
