Chapter 1: Beginning

Chapter Text

Strong gusts of wind easily lifted the grains of snow and carried them away at high speed into the distance. The light of the moon barely made its way through the thick layer of snow and wind and only slightly illuminated the path. The slope of the mountain seemed uninhabited, no one could be there in such terrible weather. Almost nobody.

The man in the cloak with great effort made his way through the huge snowdrifts. His tracks were immediately destroyed, so that even with a strong desire, he would not be able to find his way back along them. After walking quite a bit, the silhouette froze before another steep climb and a stream of wind that was ready to knock him off his feet. To be honest, he did his best. Each step was given to him with great effort, but he needed to move on.

The limits of one of the many rises, a tired sigh escaped from his lungs. The Macaque was tired, and the weather did not help him in this ascent. Taking another step, his eyes fell on the snow beneath his feet. What he saw shocked the monkey. The snow beneath his feet was rapidly turning scarlet. Quickly pulling his head back, he realized that a whole path of bloody snow stretched behind him. “How he had not noticed it before?", quickly flashed through his head, and after that other thoughts occupied his head.

“Am I really so weak that he could hurt me?...”

Whether due to the rush of adrenaline or the haste of his escape, Macaque hadn't paid attention to this wound before. And it would. Running his hand over his stomach, he noted that all his clothes were covered in a scarlet liquid, which had already covered with an ice crust. If this continues, he will simply die here, from blood loss. Isn't it… Will it all end like this? Will he bleed to death somewhere in the snowy mountains because of a stupid lantern? A growl escaped him from his mouth. Damn Wukong. If he hadn't wounded him then, his little sortie would have been much more successful.

In truth, Macaque made the mistake himself. Although the enemy was weaker than himself, he did not take into account the fact that in addition to him, there would be a whole bunch of his subordinates, who, in turn, simply piled on the crowd. In addition, that wound … It has not yet had time to fully heal.

Closing his eyes, he took another step. We need to move on anyway. Right now, hardly anyone can find him, which means he has at least a small, but a chance.

A heavy sigh issued from his lungs. After half an hour of walking in the snow and resisting the wind, his body began to deny itself. He couldn't walk anymore. The pain that used to fade into the background began with greater force, as did the cold that cut through to the very bones, despite the entire layer of fur and clothes.

Closing his eyes, he decided that this was his end. He will die here, on an unknown mountain, and his corpse will simply be covered with snow. He continued to berate himself for his stupid mistake in choosing a place to hide. Of course, using the mountainside as a hiding place was not the best idea, but when Macaque was here earlier, the mountain greeted him with friendlier weather.

Finally stopping, he raised his eyes to the overcast sky. The clouds still covered the moon, preventing its light from fully penetrating through them. Before dying, he won't even be able to enjoy her light, huh?

Those few strengths began to leave his body. His eyes gradually closed, and his legs, which with difficult, but still held him, began to give way treacherously. The monkey's body fell into the seemingly soft snow, which happily swallowed it up. The wind continued to rage, howling in his ears.

Remaining in some kind of consciousness, Macaque noticed a slight movement next to him but wrote it off as a dying delirium. Finally closing his eyes, he was ready to plunge into the arms of death. The only thing he was thinking about right now was how he couldn't get revenge. Damn you, damn Sun Wukong…
