Work Text:
You walked through the crowded hallway, surrounded by loud, bustling students. Your friends enveloped you in a bubble, chatting and making jokes.
Zoe and Alana walked in front, arms linked. Zoe with her guitar case slung over her shoulder, nodding and pointing to a stack of flyers that Alana was passing out for her latest club. They often lead the group wherever they wanted to go, and you were more than happy to follow along.
Connor and Evan trailed behind as always, never rushing anywhere. One of Conner’s arms draped across Evan’s shoulders, the other picking at his own freshly manicured nails, blowing some stray wisps of hair out of his eyes. He whispered something into Evan’s ear to make him laugh. Evan melted under his touch, blinking up at him and lugging both of their backpacks along.
And then there was Jared and you. You were sandwiched between the two other couples. You and Jared have been dating for a month now, but you were keeping in on the down low. For that reason, PDA was kind of forbidden for the two of you, not that you wanted it to be, but you hadn’t told the rest of your friends yet...not that you really needed to, they surely suspected, but you wanted to tell them personally at the right time.
Out of nowhere, you got shoulder chucked by some guy from your math class who really didn’t like you. “Dipshit.”
“Hey! You fucking asshole! Watch where you’re going!”
Jared yelled at him, taking your hand in his and pulling you closer to him so no one else bumped into you.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, fine...it’s not the worst thing he’s ever done.”
You expected him to let go of your hand, but he didn’t, he just squeezed it.
“What a jerk.”
He huffed, pushing up his glasses.
You stared at him, wordlessly until he noticed and caught your eye.
“What? Is there something on my face?”
He asked, touching his cheek self consciously with his other hand.
“No...”
You looked down at your intertwined hands pointedly.
His face split into a grin and he winked, kissing the back of your hand. You flushed and smiled, biting your lip.
From behind you, a low whistle sounded. You peeked over your shoulder to see Connor smirking and giving you finger guns. You rolled your eyes, but nodded back to him. Maybe it wouldn’t be so hard telling your friends after all.
