Notes:

If you are confused than I apologize. This is part of my OC series. I had this series stuck in my head so I wanted to write a little something up.

Work Text:

Ariana sat in her usual spot at the teacher’s table. Dani, her Deputy Headmistress, was waiting outside the Great Hall for the first years. This was going to be an exciting year, Minerva, her youngest, was going to attend Hogwarts.

“How much longer?” A voice asked.

Ariana looked down at her phone. An older looking Draco Malfoy was getting antsy. He wanted to see which house Minerva was going to be in.

“Patience my love. They should be here any minute.”

Right on cue, Dani walked in with the first years. One in particular stood out. She was the only Malfoy child that came out looking like her mother. She had green eyes and long dark hair. Just like a certain Minerva McGonagall.

“McGonagall and Dumbledore would be proud.”

Ariana turned to meet the onyx eyes of her eldest son, Severus. He took the place of Potions Master this year so he could assist Ariana with Minerva.

Tears began to fill Ariana's eyes. “If only they were here to see their granddaughter get sorted.”

Ariana pressed a button on her phone so Draco could see his little princess with the rest of the first years.

“Professor Malfoy will like to say a few words.” Dani said.

Ariana stood. She looked at the first years. “Great. Peace. Strength.”

Dani raised an eyebrow while everyone erupted in chuckles, including the first years. Once the laughing died down. Ariana gave a speech. The same speech her father did when she was a first year. She could see both her parents smiling in the back of her mind.

“This is an exciting time. My little girl will be going to Hogwarts this year. I won’t say who she is, because I do not want to embarrass her, but her father and I are excited.” Ariana smiled at Minerva who smiled back. “With that said, first years please note to not enter the dark forest at night. Danger lurks around every corner.”

Ariana nodded at Dani before she sat down. Dani got started with the Sorting Hat Ceremony. She tuned it out like always. She did clap when needed to though.

“Minerva Malfoy.”

The name caused Ariana to move at the edge of her seat. She checked her phone to see if Draco could see. He smiled as Minerva walked up the steps to sit on the stool. Dani placed the hat on her head.

"What is this? A Malfoy that isn't like the other Malfoys. You are cunning. Just like your father, but what is this I see? Bravery? Bravery isn't normal for the Malfoys. They are a bunch of wimps."

“Hey!” Severus commented.

Ariana placed a comforting hand on her son’s arm.

“GRYFFINDOR!!”

Ariana stood along with the teachers. Severus and Draco were clapping as well. Draco knew she would be in Gryffindor. So did Ariana. Minerva showed the same traits as a certain Headmistress.

She was not only cunning and clever, but brave. She once picked up a snake. A venomous one at that. With her bare hands! It scared both Draco and Ariana. To the point Ariana had to take a calming potion.

“I am so proud of my dear.” Draco said.

“Thank you daddy.” Minerva said, blowing a kiss to Draco.

She handed the phone back to Arianna. She then ran up the stairs to head to bed.

“Are you sure you are not upset?” Ariana asked.

“Why would I be?” Draco asked.

“She’s not in Slytherin.”

“I married a Gryffindor. Who’s also Dumbledore’s daughter.”

Ariana threw her head back laughing as Draco raised his eyebrows.

“I love you babe. I will talk to you when I can.” Ariana said.

“Love you too, Ari.” Draco said.

Ariana placed her phone on her desk.

“You’ve come a long way, my child.” Dumbledore’s portrait commented.

Ariana smiled at the old man. “Thank you daddy.”

“You need to head to bed too, dear. You have a big day tomorrow!”

Ariana rolled her eyes. “Yes mum!”

"Drop this attitude, my dear." Snape's portrait said.

Ariana just rolled her eyes again. She ignored them as she grabbed her phone. She then headed up the steps to retire for the night.
