Chapter Text
The sun finally shone above the Hackett cabin, glaring lights beaming along the wood and greenery that surrounded the area. All of the teens were in disbelief that the night finally ended, meeting up at the dining hall where tears and hugs were shared amongst the group of nine.
Emma, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Ryan, Laura, Max, Abi, and Nick had a lot to think about for what their future held, but they were prepared.
“I took the final shot to finally end this mess, but I can still feel something watching over us,” Laura ended up speaking to the group first once the tears and hugs were finished.
“I'm sure there's nothing to worry about though… right? I mean, you killed Silas, now the curse is lifted,” Max reiterated. He was worried about the potential of still having the infection, but he didn't want to stress out his fellow counselors.
“Right, nothing to worry about,” Kaitlyn piped in with a faint smile. “I'm gonna go put this gun back where it belongs. Emma, come on.”
The others watched the two girls walk to Chris' office while Dylan pulled Ryan aside into the nursing room.
“Hey, is everything alright? You've been quiet ever since you came back,” Dylan spoke with a concerned expression. He held onto Ryan's left arm since his own left hand had been cut off. He was still getting used to it.
“Yeah, it's just… last night was the most traumatic night of my life, for all of us. I know I'm the quiet one but damn. The adrenaline just made me do such crazy things that I don't think I'll ever end up doing again– fuck.”
Ryan's head was pulsing due to a headache that had been building up since Silas' demise.
“Do you need some pain medicine? Ibuprofen? Advil?”
“Just get what you can find, Dylan…”
Scouring the cabinets, Dylan found some ibuprofen and grabbed a small glass to fill it with water from the tap. He ended up handing Ryan the meds and glass to watch him take both consumables.
“So, erm, I didn't want to admit it right away but I kinda got a little jealous when you went off with Laura last night. I know our lives were in danger and whatnot, but-”
“You don't have to worry about that. Her boyfriend is out there and I have my eyes set on someone else, anyway.”
A faint smile laced its way onto Dylan's face as he watched Ryan set the glass down.
“So, you've got a crush, eh? Is he tall, around your age, a fellow nerd? Nick is straight, so it can't be him, same with Jacob and Max…”
Ryan rolled his eyes, letting a small smile form on his face. “Yes, Dylan. I'm talking about you.”
Dylan's expression grew brighter, even as he looked down at his bandaged nub. “You even like this little guy? I mean, he's a bit cute, but not cuter than his owner.”
“This little nub is cute. I was the one who gave it to you, or else you'd be dead, so I have to appreciate it. Either way though, I do. And his owner is definitely quite alluring.”
A smirk played its way on Dylan's face. “You think so? Mr.Nubs and I adore the voice, personality, and the face of a certain Ryan.”
“Good to know.” Ryan smiled and grabbed his phone from the counter behind him. “I think it's about time I give you my number. Was a bit of a tease earlier.”
Dylan chuckled. “About time. Had to lose a whole hand and nearly die from werewolves to finally get it, but…” He slipped his phone out. “I just realized how hard it's going to be, typing only with one hand.” He clenched his jaw, eyes wavering from his nub to his phone.
Ryan shook his head. “You can speak into your phone and text that way, right? You'll be able to work around it, and I'll be there every step of the way.”
Dylan smiled a little. “I appreciate it, but what about college? We still have our successes to worry about, our futures.”
“We can work that all out later, we still have about a month of summer ahead of us. Wouldn't you like to get away from this cabin?”
Dylan sighed, looking around with a goofy grin. “I mean, it did bring us together, and I met a lot of good people here. But you're right, I'd rather not sit around for too much longer. We still need to clean all this blood off too.” Dylan gagged a little at the smell, earning a laugh from Ryan.
“What do you mean? We smell amazing. The putrid stench will keep everyone away from us.”
Dylan rolled his eyes and smiled endearingly. “Ha ha. Very funny. Let's clean up before we leave, what do you say?” Dylan reached his hand out for Ryan to grab.
Ryan accepted it, nodding with his signature, faint smile. “Whatever you say. I still think we should've pranked them out there a bit.”
Dylan smirked a little. “I've really grown on you, haven't I?”
Ryan let out a short chuckle. “Maybe a little, but is that a bad thing? You make me feel comfortable with myself.”
Dylan bowed his head in endearment. “Not at all. Now, let's go get cleaned up before they hog the restroom.”
