I'll See You Again.

Summary:

Another fight at a random kingdom to overthrow the government. The duo are back and badass like always.

Except, Phil finds something he shouldn't and panic sets in. Where is his friend?

Oh, is this what a panic attack is? The Angel Of Death can't say he's had this before- oh, he's having a hard time breathing, uh oh.

(PLEASE READ AUTHOR NOTES)

Notes:

I know a lot of authors are taking a break, I think I will too. I'm going to stay away from writing about this fandom for a little bit.

However, I know a lot of you (me included) cope via reading and writing fanfiction. I wanted to make this last work before my break. It was put together through tears so please excuse the lack of plot and any mistakes.

For anyone who needs a hopeful ending, here you go.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The battle was tough.

Out of all the wars he’s participated in, Phil would say this might be in the top 5 of worst ones. It was loud; swords clanged against other swords, men screamed as they bore new injuries. The air was thick with sweat and blood.

Phil had never felt so alive; adrenaline pumped through his veins and he used every single drop to help win this outnumbered fight.

100 versus 2. Many would say it’s impossible, the Angel Of Death would call it an average Tuesday.

They found this small kingdom nestled away in a server. Its government taxed every last person and they could barely make enough money to live while their officials chowed down on the finest foods and wore the most beautiful accessories.

They only walked three blocks before Techno looked over and offered a small nod, Phil nodded in return. They weren’t leaving this poor kingdom to suffer; down with the government.

It was pretty easy to start a riot and soon guards were swarming every inch of the city.

The main fight was in the marketplace, where Phil and Techno were currently surrounded and swinging their swords at a dizzying rate.

They were legends and the citizens knew instantly what was going on. They either joined or ran; Phil wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting to get away from the bloodshed.

He wore simple iron armor, small runes of fortune and strength etched in it. His large dark wings towered behind him; he was a force to be reckoned with.

A distinct shout broke through the air and the Angel of Death quickly sliced down his opponent and ducked just in time for a swing to fly over his head.

He couldn’t see his comrade from where he stood in the far corner of the market square and forced his way through the mass of guards, hoping to get a glimpse of the pig-hybrid.

He blended in well with the tangle of bodies, only a few swords were pointed towards him and he easily fought them off.

Finally, he made it to the other side of the square. He tried to scan the area for his friend but no large pig figure stood out to him in the mass. Dread squeezed his heart.

He knew he had heard Techno’s shout, where was he?

He pushed through more bodies, scanning his area, barely sparing a glance towards anyone who opposed him.

His foot connected with metal and it skidded along, making a small clanging sound. Phil looked down and felt his world shatter.

The sandy blonde bent down and with barely shaking fingers, picked up Techno’s crown. When one of them passed, Phil always thought the other would become vengeful, taking down city after city in rage.

All he felt was numbness. The fight had left him.

His hearing must’ve gone out, it sounded like everything was underwater. He couldn’t breathe, was this a panic attack?

There was no way Techno would drop his crown; the Angel of Death left and only Phil stood in his place. He couldn’t find the courage to scan the bodies littered on the ground.

The Blood God- Techno was gone and Phil didn’t know what to do. His brain shut down, so did his body.

Around him, guards still fought against the rioters and fires had been started at some point, eating away at the wooden stalls placed around the edges.

He distantly heard the shout of someone - it didn't matter, Techno was gone and not coming back, Phil didn’t know what to do. The grief was paralyzing him; he’d seen death before - he was the cause of it most times - but this was different. God damnit this was different.

A sword clanged against another next to his ear loudly. He grimaced and turned, body kicking into overdrive as his senses returned, fight or flight was starting to take over.

A man with crazed eye’s was pushing against the other sword while shouting curses. The basic stone sword was held back by a beautiful iron one, the arm of a muscular man held it.

Phil slowly followed the arm and gasped; a disheveled pig-hybrid with baby pink hair held the weapon with one hand and he seemed to say something to the crazed guard before ending his life swiftly.

As the body fell with a thump, Techno turned and looked towards his comrade in concern.

Phil only stared; was this an hallucination? He didn’t know, couldn't process.

“We need to get out of here,” Techno said in monotone and firmly pulled the shocked old man along. They weaved through the crowd until they broke through an alley and into one of the deserted streets.

The duo didn't didn’t pause as they ran, they only stopped when they were deep into the bordering forest. They couldn't see the kingdom from here and Phil found that perfectly okay.

The pinked haired man sat the blonde on a mossy log and crouched down in front of him.

“Phil? Philza? You with me?” The older man blinked dumbly at his companion's worried face.

Gently, the crown he clutched in his hand was pried from him. He chirped; pure avian instincts on full display.

“Phil, I don’t know what this is. What happened? What’s wrong?” Emotion seeped through Techno’s voice.

He didn’t know if he’d be able to form words but for his friend, he’d try. “Y-you. Crown. Gone.” He heaved afterwards and tried to catch his breath.

After a moment of Techno looking blankly in the distance, his eyes lit up with understanding. “You thought I was gone because you found my crown?”

The avian nodded and Techno couldn't help but snort.

Phil looked up through his blonde bangs as Techno stood. His braided pink hair flowed in the wind and his crown gleamed on his head, back where it belonged.

The tips of his iron sword peeked out behind him and Techno lifted his head, shoulders squared. Blood stained his armor but it didn’t matter; Techno looked every bit of royalty he was.

The voices and crows yelled and cawed in unison. The sun peeked through the trees and encircled the pig-hybrid in some form of a halo.

Philza felt his shoulder untense and his worries subside.

“Don’t you know, old man. TechnoBlade never dies.”

Notes:

I know everyone's saying it be really, he never will.

I can't process it yet - I'm trying but this came to mind and I just had to write it. I know everyone says you have to face this shit head-on but right now I'd like to pretend he's off somewhere over-throwing a random government with the Angel Of Death. I'm gonna imagine it's that way until I break this grief-down chunk by chunk.

Please take care of yourselves, and if you need anything I'll try and offer whatever I can. I don't know when I'll be back to this fandom but someday I will. Love you all,

Sincerely,

Catnip? No Way Man.
