Chapter Text

After it was all said and done the group of heroes, most coming out only slightly worse for wear, convened around one another. Grateful for a  chance to catch their collective breaths. The Third Lotus Prince, however, after an emotional reunion with his husband, the dragon prince AoBing, found himself on the receiving end of an earful from his beloved partner.

Some of the nosier party members made a point to listen in on it. They were curious to see who this mysterious new addition to their strange family was. Most did not make an effort to hide their eavesdropping.

“-have you lost your mind, I have been looking for you for weeks-” the Dragon Prince applied salve to the Lotus Prince’s yet unhealed wounds, Nezha sat through the dull pain, glad to be in close proximity to his husband once again.

“-I know-” The injured prince gazed up at his partner with a lovestruck foolish look on his face. Standing so close to AoBing after so much time apart made Nezha feel like he was walking on clouds.

"It was bad enough when you would not leave that map well enough alone,” AoBing pulled bandages from his robes and began unwinding them, “ -and now I have to hear from the palace guards that you’d gone and challenged Sun Wukong himself for it.” The Dragon Prince tutted and scoffed, winding the bandaging around the salve slightly tighter than it had to be. The Lotus Prince winced slightly. "nearly bringing the palace down onto your own head- what were you thinking-?"

Nezha knew his husband, first came tears and hugs, now was Aobing’s time to wring him out for his brick-headedness. Later; kisses and forgiveness would come. Old habits died hard and this was one of their oldest rituals together.

“my love, I know, I am sorry-”

The Dragon Prince cups his face, checking hastily for more wounds and peering into Nezha’s eyes, mostly to reassure himself that his husband is still there in front of him. Nezha relaxed into his rough hold, his eyes nearly slipping shut out of exhaustion.

“If that were not bad enough you nearly incited another calamity by choosing not to tell the Jade Court and myself about the White Bone Demon”

“-and I am very sorry” Nezha was not entirely sorry, he had done his part to protect the world and more importantly keep his husband safe. His ranting went in one ear and out the other, in Nezha’s mind all he could see was his husband’s cute face.  He blinked blearily, like a pleased cat.

“-Just once, for the sake of the fate of the entirety of the Middle Kingdom, I would have hoped my husband would not be so rock headed- “

“HUSBAND?!”

AoBing turned to see that nearly all eyes were trained on himself and Nezha. Their eyes bugged cartoonishly out of their heads. He had not realized he’d been speaking so loudly. Their faces ranged from delight to confusion to annoyance, Aobing noted that his fellow Dragon did not seem at all surprised and instead seemed more occupied with her phone device-

After a beat of silence the questions came in swarm.

“You guys are MARRIED-??”

“WHERE WAS MY INVITATION?”

“B-but Mr.Tang said that-”

“The books didn’t say anything about THIS!”

The Dragon Prince blanched and turned back to his husband who was more familiar with this loud assortment of monkeys, demons and humans. Nezha snored happily in AoBing’s hold, for all intents and purposes he was was dead to the world.
