Work Text:
Eijiro rubs his eyes. There’s no way his best friend just showed up at his door at two in the morning with a little girl that looked almost identical to Katsuki. He must be dreaming. He closes his eyes and pinches his arm, hoping that when his eyes open again he will be back in his comfortable bed.
He sighs as he opens his eyes again and nothing about the scene has changed.
Eijiro backs up to let them both inside and takes a deep breath. It was gonna be a long morning.

After Eijirou had let them in, the girl in question had quickly curled up on the couch and fell asleep while he made coffee for both himself and Katsuki. He had the feeling he wasn’t going to go back to sleep for a while, so coffee was a must.
Now he sat cross-legged in an armchair with his coffee in hand and watched the little girl’s chest rise and fall next to Katsuki. “So what happened? I thought you had night patrol tonight?”
Katsuki takes a sip of his coffee. “I was, but we came across a few villains with unknown quirks and next thing I know I’m waking up with a pounding head and a shivering girl curled next to me. I wrapped her up and took her back to the agency where they looked her over, but they didn’t find anything wrong with her other than being a bit cold. They told me one of the villain’s quirks must have been some kind of DNA copy.”
Eijirou furrows his brow. “So she’s yours?”
“Apparently. They told me that I either have to take her in or give her to foster care. I’m still considering, but I really don’t want to just chuck her farther into the unknown. I might be an asshole, but that’s a bit far even for me. I just don’t know if I can give her the life she deserves. I spend most of my time at the agency and I’m just not sure I’m equipped to raise a kid on my own.”
Eijirou smiles at the sincerity in Katsuki’s tone as he talks. “If it helps any, I would be down to help you raise her. Who says two best friends can’t raise a kid together? Besides I’m sure all of our friends would be down to put in babysitting time and you can take a little more time from the agency without getting behind. You’re nearly overworking yourself as it is.”
Katsuki looks down at the little girl next to him and runs a hand absentmindedly through her hair. “Yeah, I guess you have a point. I’m just scared I’m going to screw something up, it’s not like I have any idea what I’m doing.”
Eijirou smiles a wide smile that always seems to make everyone around him feel safer. “I believe in us Bakubro, we can do this!”
Katsuki takes a deep breath. “Yeah okay, I can do this.”

The following weeks involved a lot of learning for Katsuki and Eijirou both.
They sat down and looked over a baby book they found at a local convenience store to figure out a name the day after their late night conversation, but picking a name was a lot harder than it looked. In the end, they settle on Ena -meaning gift from god, which the little girl definitely was- Keomi -meaning pure, which she definitely was, at least for now- Bakugou.
The next order of business was to take Ena to a doctor. The agency had done it’s best to look her over, but they had limited supplies since they were not used to small children.
Luckily, Ena was a happy, healthy little girl.
The doctor was also able to estimate that she was about three years old which would definitely help Eijirou and Katsuki later when they shopped for supplies.
Speaking of which, a week after Ena’s check-up they finally decide the little girl probably needs her own bed and toys that aren’t hand-made or hand-me-downs Eijirou’s mom gifts them for her.
Now, Katsuki wasn’t expecting this to be entirely painless, but shopping for a kid was much harder than he thought. They had dropped Ena off at Izuku’s house, figuring he was probably the most responsible person to watch their daughter for a couple hours. Surprisingly, Eijirou was not the one who got upset leaving their daughter alone, but in Katsuki’s defense, he had become awfully attached to the giggly little girl considering he had taken off work and stayed home with her all week.
Thinking about it is starting to make Katsuki worry, but luckily he is brought back to the present by Eijirou clearing his throat next to him. “So which stroller should we get? There’s a cute pink one with a bow over here.”
“Ew no, what the fuck Ei. I’m not getting my daughter a bunch of pink frilly stuff just cause she’s a female. Besides, aren't you the one that likes red so much? There’s a red and black one over there that I think she’ll love.”
Eijirou looks over and Katuski swears he does a little happy dance. “Oh my god your right Bakubro! That stroller is much more manly! Or womanly I guess?”
Katsuki snorts and grabs the stroller. “Let’s just hurry up and get out of here.”

They get home about an hour before they need to go pick Ena up for Izuku to get to his agency on time, so they decide to go ahead and set up her room, so that it’s ready as soon as Ena wants it.
For all of Katsuki’s talk about no pink and frilly things, Eijirou did manage to convince Katsuki to get the canopy bed he thought was adorable. Although it is purple, so technically Katsuki stood by at least half of his statement.
On top of said bed is a myriad of stuffed animals and pillows from tigers to sharks to a pikachu. The white bookshelf against the far wall stands out against the light blue walls with books and more stuffed animals filling the shelves. There is a white dresser to match that is filled to the brim with organized clothes, minus the dresses that are hung up in the closet. There’s also a nice vanity desk that she probably won’t use for years, but oh well, at least she’d have it when she needed it.
They had left a big space open on the floor, knowing the toddler would want to run around and play, so they wanted to give her the safest space possible to do so. There was a small toy box covered in painted animals waiting at the foot of her bed for play time as well.
Soon after they finish Izuku drops Ena back off, smiling wide and assuring both of them that she was nothing but an angel the whole time. Although in all honesty she probably could have burned his house down and he would have said the same thing as long as she flashed that precious smile that looked strangely like Eijirou’s when she was finished.
Eijirou is practically vibrating with excitement and they each take one of her hands and lead her into the newly finished room while she looks around, seemingly in awe of her surroundings.
Katsuki smiles softly and he picks up the small girl and kisses her soft hair. “Welcome to your new life baby girl, it’s going to be a wild one.”
