Work Text:

Julie had been practicing with the guys when Willie teleported in.

Before anyone could get a word out, Willie blurted “Julie’s magic can destroy Caleb.”

That had led to a group meeting with her family, Flynn, Nick, Carrie, Trevor, and of course the four ghosts. It had been three months since she had played the Sunset Curve CD, two months since Julie’s dad and Tía found out, and a month since Caleb had stopped possessing Nick. Carrie had noticed something was wrong with Nick, and wanted to help, which ended with Trevor figuring out that the guys had, indeed, come back as ghosts. Sunset Curve was still working on their relationship, but they had come a long way from the day that Trevor calls The Haunting. Carrie, Julie, and Flynn were also in that stage of their current friendship.

“So, how can my magic destroy Caleb?”

“All you have to do is touch his wrist. That’s it.”

She translated this for the other lifers in the room, and Carrie spoke up next.

“That means Julie has to go undercover in the club, doesn’t it?”

Willie winced at that.

“Yeah, it does.”

The people who could hear Willie looked concerned, and after translating again, the people who couldn’t hear him looked concerned. There were complaints from the group, but Julie stopped them.

“I have to do this. Caleb’s tormented us enough.”

That’s how Julie ended up here, looking at a beautiful flapper dress that was in an antique shop 6 miles from her house. The dress was maroon with black beads all over it, but it also had purple, gold, and black sequins on it. Maroon shoes were to the left of it, while a flapper headband was to the right of it. Flynn had come with her, but was on the other side of the store, so Julie waved her over.

“What do you think?”

“Perfect!”

“Agreed!”

Caleb hadn’t been performing in California that day, but lucky for them, the next show was performing there.

So, the next day, Julie got ready, and then everybody piled into cars to go to the Hollywood Ghost Club. She was the only one who was going in, but the others came to be getaway drivers and moral support.

The group wished her good luck as she entered the hotel. Julie wasn’t sure where she should go, but luckily a stream of people walking in gave her an answer. The guys had told her that Caleb would sing for a little bit, and then mingle, and that’s when she should try to talk to him. Since she was in flapper apparel, going backstage where all the flapper ghosts were was the best idea. About fifteen minutes later, a voice came over the speakers.

“Everybody please welcome your ghost host, Caleb Covington!”

Ghost host? Like from the Haunted Mansion? Weird, Julie thought.

He then sang some song about life as a ghost, but Julie didn’t care enough to pay attention. The song ended, and that’s when Julie decided to go mingle with some lifers before going over to Caleb. After mingling with 3 different groups, Caleb was alone.

Julie supposed that bumping into him might be a better idea than just going up and talking to him, considering she supposedly “works” for him.

“Oh! I am so sorry Mr. Covington!”

“That’s alright, Miss… I’m sorry I believe I’ve forgotten who you are.”

“Oh, I’m Rose.” Flynn had help Julie choose her fake name, and choosing her mom’s name felt like a good idea. She held out her hand for a handshake, hoping he would think it was a way to reintroduce herself and not a way to destroy him.

“Caleb Covington, but I suppose you already knew that.” He took it, and his face immediately contorted to one of pain.

She booked it out of there, and as she left she heard Caleb screaming at one of his loyal supporters to help him. Practically throwing the car door open and jumping in, Julie told her dad to drive and told everyone (some who were in the cars and other who were calling over the phone) that the plan had been a success. Caleb Covington would no longer bother any of them again.
