Chapter Text
Imagine that you were Eddie Diaz's girlfriend and one of the doctors of the 118 unit.
***
You went on a call. The child did not come home because, as it turned out, he fell into an old abandoned well. The maps didn't give you almost anything new since the well system was older than the maps.
Eddie volunteered to pull the boy out of the well because he was talking to him on the radio, and went underground. He had half an hour and you weren't too worried at first, before he lost contact with the team.
"We need to turn off the drill! We have a five-story lightning rod in an open field!"
Thirty minutes later, Bobby gave the command to raise Eddie to the surface.
"I've lost weight!" Buck exclaimed. "Four, three, two…"
"He cut the cable!" Hen's loud voice caught your attention.
You knew you had no right to panic in this situation, so you tried not to think that Eddie was down there somewhere and couldn't get out because he cut his cable. You just hoped that at least he did it for a reason and found the boy.
*
"We have to get him out! I'll go down and then…"
"Buck, if you cut the cable too, it won't help either us or Eddie," Bobby tried to calm the firefighter. "Chimney's coming down," his voice was firm.
Chim quickly nodded and began to equip himself quickly.

When you saw Chimney, who climbed out of the tunnel with the child, you relaxed a little, because you understood that he was no longer in danger.
"Eddie's fine, Cap," Chim shouted.
" Drop another fifteen-meter cable to my boyfriend. Buck, get Eddie out and let's go home," Bobby ordered.
Lightning thundered over your heads and suddenly hit right into the drill. From the impact, he fell to the ground and the tunnel was filled up.
"Eddie!" Buck screamed.
You felt the ground go from under your feet and fell to your knees in the mud, unable to restrain yourself.
"Get up!" Hen took you under her armpits and lifted you to her feet, "we'll get him out, we'll get him out," she said with conviction, looking into your eyes and you nodded automatically, trying not to think that Eddie was literally buried alive somewhere there, nine meters underground.
***
You're here to listen to Bobby's instructions on finding Eddie. You were sure that if you didn't have gloves on your hands, you would have already chewed all your nails out of worry and fear for Eddie.
"Okay, attention. Buck will distribute thermal imagers to everyone. You and I will disperse and search the whole area. Chimney will prepare oxygen tanks and warming blankets. We start moving from the well in a concentric circle," Bobby explained.
"Police helicopters are on the way. Their thermal imagers will help scan the entire territory. We will try to detect the heat trace of Diaz."
"It's not going to be easy," Eddie's voice suddenly sounded from the direction of the lake.
"God, Eddie..." you exhaled with noticeable relief when you saw him alive.
You all hurried to help him, to pick him up, because he was ready to fall.
***
"When Buck pulled out the cut rope, I was scared," you confessed, lying in Eddie's arms that evening.
"I'm sorry," Eddie whispered guiltily, kissing the top of your head. "I had to, otherwise Hayden would have died."
"I know," you whispered back, gently lifting your head and stroking his face, "and I'm proud of you."
He smiled, pulling you closer to him and closing his eyes.
