"Shiki Fūjin!"
Minato yelled as the Shinigami manifested behind him, his soul extending out from his back, which was enraptured in the Shinigami's hair.
The Shinigami brought the prayer beads they held in their left hand up to their mouth. Them muttering into it words that will forever remain unknown.
Marks similar to that of a cursed seal then spread across their right arm, which they shoved into the back of Minato's soul. The Death God's arm resurfaced from Minato's stomach to shoot forward towards the Kyuubi.
It then grabbed hold of the Kyuubi's soul, and all of the chakra tightly intertwined with it before retracting back, stopping shortly in front of Minato's hand. Who then quickly rushed over to the sealing altar and shoved the Kyuubi into Naruto's stomach, the Shiki Fūjin appearing on Naruto's skin.
Kushina looked up at him once he got near, having been resting against the altar, physically exhausted.
"Kushina-chan, there's a way we can see Naruto one last time. Pour all the chakra you can spare into the seal, and I'll do the rest." She listened without hesitation, with Minato doing the same afterwards.
A bittersweet smile formed on Minato's lips as he gazed upon his wife and child. He took a deep breath before speaking his last words.
"Naruto! Kushina! I love you."
"Hakke no Fuin Shiki!"
Minato started falling to the ground as soon as he cast the seal, his soul slipping through his grasp. The last thing he saw was two pairs of purple eyes.
A different set of eyes watched, filled with sorrow, as they allowed themself to fade from existence completely. Though before doing so, they muttered one last thing, using their chakra to make sure their words reached Naruto's ears.
"You have all the tools you need. Now go! And learn from my mistakes. Do not falter and never be too slow!"
With tears running down her cheeks Kushina got to work, forming a Kage Bunshin, it already knowing what to do.
While the Kage Bunshin ran to their house to seal away everything important. Kushina herself picked up Naruto and ran into the forest. She was heading towards the closest orphanage to the Hokage Tower; Kushina intending on meeting up with Hiruzen on her way there.
Or at least that was what she had intended to do until she started feeling more contractions.
'Shit, there were two? Why didn't Biwako mention there were two? Did she somehow mistake one as part of the Kyuubi during the scans or what?'
A small smile still appeared on her face though.
'It seems Naruto will be getting a sibling.'
Kushina laid down into the position Biwako had instructed her in earlier, though she did make a Kage Bunshin to meet up with Hiruzen before doing so.
Kushina placed Naruto onto the grass next to her while she gave birth once more, her getting a chance to truly look at him, now finally having the opportunity to consciously notice the new marking in his eyes.
'So his eyes, they seem to have some sort of connection to the Bijuu.'
A few minutes later, another Kushina burst in through the trees and quickly sealed a scroll into Naruto's arm before dispersing into smoke.

Kage Bunshin Kushina

Kushina rushed back to the sealing grounds and as she waited for Hiruzen her adrenaline faded away allowing the full scope of what had happened in just a few minutes to hit her.
Her son had almost died in his first minute, the Kyuubi was ripped out of her and enslaved causing thousands of deaths, and her husband had sacrificed himself to seal the beast away.
As that final part hit her she collapsed to her knees next to Minato and cried.
This is the scene Hiruzen saw when he got there. The Sandaime Hokage's eyes went downtrodden, seeing it already too late. He walked towards Kushina and sat down next to her, pushing his feelings aside for now so he could learn what had happened.
Though tears still built up in his eyes, slipping past before he could stop them.
"Report."
Kushina pulled out a piece of paper from a hidden pocket and drew a silencing seal with her chakra, it forming a sphere around them. Kushina then tightly closed her eyes, burying all of her emotions deep within her, and spoke.
"At roughly 22:00 hours, moments after I had successfully given birth, a rouge Uchiha interfered. They had short black spiky hair, wore a black cloak, and a white mask with horizontal black flame patterns. It had a hole only for the right eye; they presumably lost the other.
Their chakra is familiar, but I haven't felt them in years. Check all Uchiha nuke-nin or Uchihas whose bodies were never recovered. They attacked when the seal was at its weakest, killing Biwako and Takamo in the process.
They forced Minato to teleport away to save Naruto before he could repair the seal and then extracted the Kyuubi. The man then immediately captured it in a genjutsu after.
I was too weakened from childbirth to stop them; the Uzumaki's enhanced healing seems to make the process much more exhausting, and I could barely move. They almost had the Kyuubi kill me, but Minato got there just in time.
Minato then teleported us home, placed Naruto and me next to each other on our bed, and teleported away. During the time he was gone, I applied a new seal I created to Naruto called simply the Bloodline Rebirth Seal. 'I really wish I had the time to come up with a better name.'
What the seal was intended to do was search your body for any blood ties that carry a bloodline trait and only revitalize the strongest.
Only the strongest because I wasn't willing to risk finding out what would happen if the bloodline traits aren't compatible.
Though it seems I made a mistake, and it instead revitalizes them all though there doesn't seem to have been adverse effects.
Minato then returned and quickly teleported himself, Naruto, and I to the sealing grounds. I then summoned this altar, placed Naruto in it, and used the Kongō Fūsa to bind the Kyuubi.
Minato then used the Shiki Fūjin to seal the Kyuubi away into Naruto. Original me has Naruto and intended to meet you on the way here, but I just recently learned that I'm giving birth to twins."
Kushina took a moment to think before continuing.
"When it comes to revealing what happened to the public, tell them that Minato took the Kyuubi into the Shinigami's stomach with him.
When it comes to deciding when to tell the twins the truth, only tell them about us when you're certain they both can keep it a secret and only tell them about Kyuubi when they both understand fuinjutsu enough."
And with that she dispersed leaving Hiruzen to compile the information dump.

Due to Kushina's extremely weakened state she did not sense when a returning Chūnin unknowingly passed through the seal. They only caught Kushina explaining that Minato sealed the Kyuubi into Naruto as they ran past.
They kept quiet about it until they heard Hiruzen say that the Kyuubi was killed the day after, and then they started spreading that Minato actually sealed the Kyuubi away into Naruto.
Those who were consumed by their hatred after the attack convinced themselves that Naruto was the Kyuubi in human form so that they can take it out on the boy without guilt.

Kushina

Kushina looked at the little baby in her arms with all the love a mother could muster, loving that they got her red hair.
"Kasumi, Uzumaki Kasumi." She proclaimed while applying the same Bloodline Rebirth seal she had applied to Naruto's back to Kasumi's as well. Though her eyes did not change from the process like his, Kushina not having enough chakra to fuel it as strongly as Naruto's. However, that's only half the reason.
Kushina took Naruto in her right arm, Kasumi already in her left, and slowly stood up on wobbly legs barely having the energy left to move. Kushina took a moment to make her legs stop shaking before taking all the chakra from her non-vital organs and pushing it all into her legs to rush towards the orphanage she was headed for originally.
Kushina headed inside, no one around yet to give her a second glance, and entered one of the bedrooms, placing Naruto and Kasumi on the bed in it.
Kushina collapsed to her knees next to it and pulled another piece of paper out of her pocket.
Kushina then pulled all the remaining chakra from her legs into her right hand, using it to burn Naruto and Kasumi's names into the paper which she then placed on the floor next to her.
Afterwards Kushina wrapped her arms around them and spoke her last words, Kushina dying with tears in her eyes and a bittersweet smile on her lips.
She died from having a hole in her chakra system which was created when the Kyuubi clawed its way out from her and from chakra exhaustion.
And the last thing Kushina saw was the ripple pattern of the Rinnegan and the tomoe in the inner circle, right above the pupil.

"That child. Newly born and He has already gained access to the Deva Realm. Could he be the one?"
"Bah! You got this excited over that Hagoromo brat and look where he ended up! Barely able to beat a mere seedling of Them!"
"A mere seedling that still matched the weakest of us."
"The weakest of us?! Hah! You've always overestimated Their power! Even our weakest could've beaten that seedling with ease! Personally, I don't see why we're relying on a human when we could beat Them ourselves!"
"Enough! The both of you! Ka! Stop antagonizing them! Taka! Don't you remember the last time we tried to fight Them? We used to be of eight million; now we're down to only three. Only a wielder of Chakra with the Mark of Rinne has the sheer potential needed to beat Them!"
"Yeah, and we still need to get lucky after that! Hagoromo's body couldn't handle the strain of those marks and ended up only being able to use its most basic technique. We should be more focused on finding a way to get stronger ourselves, Mina."
"There is no way. We all know this. We've scoured the entire multiverse and all its dimensions. This boy, they have to be the one. They've got to be."
"I really hope you're right, Mina. We won't be able to wait for another bearer of the Rinne if they aren't."
"Uzumaki Naruto, you are our only hope."

Three and a half years later
Uzumaki Naruto

Naruto held Hiruzen's right hand in his left, him looking up at Kasumi's laughing face fondly. She was sitting on the Hokage's shoulders herself, talking to him.
Naruto then gazed over to where he felt a chakra signature jumping down to them an ANBU now kneeling before the Hokage.
"Hokage-sama, the Civilian Council has called a meeting."
Hiruzen gave a nod, the ANBU responding by dispelling into smoke, revealing themselves to be merely a Bunshin.
"Kasumi-chan, Naruto-kun, I need to go." Hiruzen said while gently pulling Kasumi off his shoulders.
"Aww, but Jiji, can't you stay longer?" Kasumi looked up at him with a pout.
"Yeah, Jii-chan, it can't be that important, can it?" Naruto looked slightly upset.
"They wouldn't be calling for me if it wasn't Naruto-kun."
'Though at the moment, what could possibly be important enough to warrant this?'
"It's not like I won't return. I'll be right back when it's over."
"You better! You didn't finish your story yet, dattebate!"
A smile reformed on Hiruzen's lips at Kasumi's words. "We can't be going around having unfinished stories, can we?"
"Hehehehe. Nope!" Kasumi giggled through her grin.
"Now, I'll be seeing you two later." After finishing his words, he vanished into a Shunshin, leaving Naruto and Kasumi alone at the park.
"So imouto, what do you want to do while we wait?" Naruto looked at Kasumi with a small smile while asking.
Kasumi took a moment to think before exclaiming her want.
"Race you to the swings!"
Kasumi then quickly ran towards them with a devious giggle.
"Oh, so that's how you want to play, huh?!" Naruto waited for a long moment before running after her.
"Do you really think you'll win with such a cheap
trick -ttebayo?"
"I don't think I will. I know I will -ttebate!" Kasumi turned back to stick her tongue out at him, but when she turned back to reorientate herself after almost tripping, Kasumi saw a group of civilians rushing towards them carrying various weapons. One threw a knife at her, aiming to kill her quickly.
Naruto saw them long before her, him quickly pouring as much chakra into his legs as his body would let him in turn, and exploded forward in a sharp burst of speed. But it was still too slow.
As soon as he saw the knife being thrown, he yelled.
"Kasumi!"
Kasumi started stepping back from it, too stunned from it all to truly try to get out of the way.
Internally cursing how slow his body was, Naruto extended his hand at the knife, mentally invoking two words.
'Shrina Tensei!'
The knife got blasted into the ground, dirt erupting up from the impact, shocking the civilians at its abruptness.
Ten seconds.
Naruto focused on putting his legs in front of each other; the shards of his shattered destiny scattered behind him. He didn't even think of grabbing her and running, too consumed with the need to protect his dear sister.
Nine seconds.
Naruto skidded in front of Kasumi, turning to face the civilians, his fists raised up and his legs adjusted in an instinctive stance.
Eight seconds.
They started recovering, one already rushing forward due to them having had a modicum of shinobi training, their tachi at the ready.
Seven seconds.
The rest have recovered by now and started running at them, weapons prepared.
Six seconds.
The first has gotten a third of the way there.
Five seconds.
Naruto starts getting filled with desperation knowing that he won't have enough time. Desperate for a way to protect his sister.
Four seconds.
The leader of the pack has gotten two-thirds of the way there.
'Damnit, I don't care about my life! Just please, give me a way to save Kasumi!'
Three seconds.
The chakra in Naruto's eyes has started to react to his desperate need to protect her, and Naruto starts being able to hear a faint whirring.
Two seconds.
He's just barely out of range, his arm pulling back for a stab. Naruto watching it slowly move to stab through him. He reached out and grabbed the blade with both hands, Naruto holding it back for a moment but he was too weak, it sliding through his grip and cutting open his palms
Blood splattered on the grass and covered the blade, painting it crimson.
"Naruto!"
'Sorry, Kasumi. See you soon.'
One second.
Naruto's eyes glowed, the metallic whirring growing audible, it now sounding like they were in the middle of a factory. But if you listened closely, you could hear the clanging of hammers, of steel on steel, of combat and blacksmithing.
Just before the tachi hit his chest, a single word entered his mind, demanding to be spoken.
"Shurado!"
And Naruto's body turned metal, the blade clanging against his skin.
A smirk formed on Naruto's face as he released a huff of wry amusement.
'Cutting it close there, aren't you, Rinnegan?'
Naruto raised his right palm, aiming at the man's face. The center of his palm retracted into a circular opening, and a blue-green light started emitting from it.
Zero.
His smirk widened, gaining a wild edge to it.
A turquoise blast of chakra shot from his palm with a bang, blowing a giant hole into the man's head, All that was left is the skin and muscle on the back of his head. The visible remaining muscle was burnt black, the wound cauterized.
The man collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut, blood slowly dripping from the remnants of his head.
The rest froze for a moment in shock at the man's grisly end, giving Naruto time to set up.
Naruto made four more arms sprout from his shoulders, the back two gently picking up Kasumi's stunned form, Naruto's touch helping her shake it off; Kasumi then wrapped her arms around Naruto's neck, placing her chin on his left shoulder.
"Kasumi, you should close your eyes. You don't need to see this."
"I- I can't. I don't know why, but I feel like I do need to. That if I don't see this, I'll regret it."
The rest just got into range.
"Then don't blink."
Naruto then focused, the tomoe in his eyes spinning rapidly as the world slowed down even more. He then dashed forward, moving faster than he could even when he enhanced his speed with chakra.
His wild smirk turned into a feral grin, his teeth bared as a threat and in actual enjoyment.
Yet even with his increased speed, to him it felt like he was barely moving. Plenty of time to analyze the Shurado and the information about it his Rinnegan just implanted into his subconscious.
And in a fraction of a second, his body morphed.
Spikes emerged from the palms of his available hands, flexible blades with jagged edges erupting from his arms. Circular openings formed all over his body.
Naruto willed one of the blades to wrap around and dig into one's wrist, pulling their arm aside and leaving them open to a stab through the chest, the spike in the palm of his right middle hand shoved into their heart.
As soon as Naruto started to pull his hand away the spike broke off inside and erupted into an extensive network of blades. Only tiny bits of steel penetrated the skin leaving only hints on what's happened inside.
At the same time, Naruto punched one man's ōdachi using his middle left arm, the strength of the punch shattering the blade. Turquoise flames of chakra burst from the cavity in his elbow, rocketing his fist forward and through their chest.
Naruto grabbed his left front hand's wrist, pulling it to reveal metal tendrils. One main one connecting his hand to his arm and a dozen split-offs.
The tendrils wrapped around the tanto-wielding woman, binding her, while the same arm's hand turned into a cannon firing a laser straight through her. It also hit someone behind her before hitting the ground, burning a hole into the earth until Naruto stopped pouring his chakra into it.
One tried to stab Naruto from behind only to get turned into a shish-kebab by a giant tail of steel. The last thing they saw was a pair of blue eyes from the face that had emerged from the back of Naruto's head.
Five bodies dropped to the ground at once.
The tendrils on his left front arm then shot off, rocketing towards the seven remaining civilians and exploding. Naruto then used a quick application of Shinra Tensei to stop the explosion from hitting him as well and hurting Kasumi.
After a few seconds with no more attacks Naruto took a deep breath and began to relax. The ninja that had been waiting, watching, took this opportunity, speeding through hand signs.
'Katon: Gouryuka no jutsu!' (Great Dragon Fire!)
'Katon: Gouryuka no jutsu!' (Great Dragon Fire!)
'Futon: Kami Oroshi no jutsu!' (Divine Mountain Wind!)
Naruto quickly turned around with his front right hand raised forward, no longer passing them off as mere bystanders, and tried to use Shinra Tensei only for his body to refuse.
'It's not been long enough! I can't tank this, it'll still hurt Kasumi!'
Naruto raised up his front left hand as well and started pouring chakra into his palms, trying and hoping that just with enough chakra and will his Asura Path will let him create a shield of chakra.
As the jutsu got closer and closer once more a desperate need to protect filled Naruto and Naruto began to faintly hear the mewls of the starving.
When the jutsu was a few feet away a word instinctively left his lips as the wails of countless ravenous souls could be heard.
"Gakidō."
A hint of a light blue barrier appeared around him, and when the jutsu made contact it was steadily absorbed.
"Fūjutsu Kyūin."
Naruto then raised his right middle hand. Him aiming all three raised hands at the ninja while they were frozen in shock.
'Banshō Ten'in.'
The three Chūnin flew forward towards him unimpeded, them not having any way to stop themselves.
Two of them started to go through more hand signs, the third throwing shuriken that just bounced off. Naruto cut them all off by opening his mouth to reveal a narrow tube in the back of his throat
A blue-green light started emitting from it, making his entire mouth glow, before a narrow beam shot forward, penetrating right through the leftmost shinobi. Naruto then turned his head to the right cutting through all three.
Naruto's mouth shut with a clack, him also closing his eyes for a moment to focus his senses, looking for any nearby human chakra signatures. Once he was absolutely certain that none were close enough to be a threat Naruto finally relaxed, him mostly undoing the Asura Path.
Kasumi maneuvered herself out of his arms, the arms retracting back inside, and Naruto turned around to face her. While his face was neutral even the Rinnegan couldn't hide the pain in his eyes from Kasumi.
Kasumi pulled Naruto into a hug, him freezing for a moment before all the tension left his body. Naruto returned the hug and gave up on holding back his emotions, him burying his face into Kasumi's shoulder to silently cry.
When Kasumi felt Naruto's arms wrap around her she gave up resisting as well, pressing her face into Naruto's shoulder and crying too. After a moment, Kasumi began shakily speaking into his ear.
"Na-Naruto-nii-chan, y-you almost died!"
"That's fine. I'm just so glad you're safe."
"Id-Idiot! Why are you worried about me wh-when you're the who almost got a sword through the chest -ttebate?!"
"‘Cause I'm your big brother and it's my job to protect you no matter what."
Kasumi held him tighter and dug her face further into Naruto's shoulder, embarrassed.
"Well you're a stupid big brother."
Afterwards, they just stayed like that with their eyes closed, them just taking comfort in each other's embrace.
After Naruto's tears ran dry he picked Kasumi up and brought her with him to sit against a nearby tree. Kasumi sat with her legs on either side of Naruto's waist, her arms gripping his shirt, and her face pressed into his chest, her tears soaking into his shirt.
Naruto brought one hand to the back of Kasumi's head, nestled in her long crimson hair. The other was placed on her mid-back, it tickled by the ends of her hair, him using both arms to hold her close.
Naruto did all this because while he's had enough time to get over what happened due to his Tomoe-Rinnegan Kasumi hasn't.
So for a while they just sat there, Kasumi crying into Naruto's chest while he rubbed her back. Eventually Naruto raised his right hand, shifted it, and shot a laser of chakra skywards.
Naruto didn't have to wait long. He had only just wrapped his right arm around Kasumi's waist when a shinobi rushed in.
"We're okay. Just please, go get Hokage-jii."

A couple minutes later
Uzumaki Naruto

When Hiruzen got there, there were at least a dozen shinobi still there. Most were guarding the perimeter, but a few had just finished sealing up the bodies.
"Report your findings later. Dismissed."
While the gathered shinobi dispersed, Hiruzen walked over to sit in front of Naruto and Kasumi.
Kasumi's head was now resting on Naruto's shoulder, her closed eyes red and puffy from crying. Naruto's arms were now wrapped around her chest.
"Jii-chan."
"Naruto-kun, what happened out here?"
Naruto took a deep calming breath before speaking.
"Not long after you left, we were attacked. They threw a kunai at Kasumi as soon as they got there which I was forced to use Shinra Tensei on.
Then I rushed in front of Kasumi and stood my ground which wasn't my smartest idea, but I was just too focused on protecting her.
That mistake would have cost us our lives if I hadn't awoken the Asura Path just in time.
After taking care of them, when I took a moment to relax we were attacked by three shinobi and when they launched a jutsu at us I gained my second new path, The Preta Path.
Then I just finished them off with the Asura Path."
'I had hoped it wasn't, but it seems that meeting truly was a setup. I understand them having some hatred, but this, this is too much. This must never happen again. I'll make sure of it.'
"I promise you I'll do everything I can to make sure something like this will never happen again."
"Then make me strong. Strong enough that I don't have to rely on these eyes."
'I understand now. Why I felt the need to watch. I don't want to always be protected. So how would I be able to fight by Naruto's side if I couldn't even bring myself to watch him do it?'
"Make us strong."
"Make us strong."
Naruto looked down at Kasumi in surprise as she turned around to face Hiruzen, her back now pressed against Naruto's chest.
"Jiji, we almost died -ttebate. If Naruto gained his Paths even a bit slower it would of been over." Kasumi said this in a low somber voice.
"I- I couldn't do anything! I froze up and I didn't stand a chance! I- I can't stay this weak! Who knows what'll happen next time?! So please make us strong enough to survive! Make us strong enough that we'll never have to worry about losing the other again!"
'It seems my worry was unfounded. They've already pushed past what happened and become stronger for it.'
A smile formed on Hiruzen's lips as he looked at them with pride.
"I will, starting tomorrow. I need to make sure something like this never happens again and you two need some time to just relax."
