It had been three months since Atsushi had last seen Ryunosuke, his beloved boyfriend and partner. He had been away in Germany for a business trip that was quite sudden. Ryunosuke refused to say any details about what was going on in fear that the call was being overheard the few times that he was able to call Atsushi. He hadn’t heard anything from Ryunosuke in almost two months now and it was starting to become clear how much Atsushi was missing his beloved lover. He had been less peppy and sadder, not talking as much and zoning out constantly. Everyone could tell that Atsushi wasn’t happy, so someone came up with a plan.
Atsushi was zoned out while doing paperwork, Dazai spinning around in his chair, Yosano healing Junichiro after getting hurt after the last mission, Kyouka and Kenji happily chatting with each other at Kyouka’s desk, Ranpo sitting at his desk eating snacks and Kunikida getting onto Dazai for not doing his paperwork. Everyone paused for a moment when a mailboy came in through the door carrying a large box.
“Uh, I have a package for a Nakajima Atsushi.?” He says hesitantly.
“That’s me..?” Atsushi says, extremely confused. Dazai simply laughs quietly and walks over to the mailboy, taking the box from him and placing it onto Atsushi’s desk. The boy leaves the room once a paper is signed, leaving Atsushi with a box on his desk and all eyes on him. “Please put that away, Atsushi. It’s a disturbance.” Kunikida says with a frown then snaps his pen when Dazai cries out “Open it!! Who’s it from anyways?”
Atsushi puts the box on the floor so then he could open the box with ease, smiling happily whenever he sees who sent the box. “It’s from Ryunosuke...oh my, what did he do?” Atsushi says fondly, opening his desk drawer. “I wonder what he sent you!” Kenji says with a smile. “Me too. Anything is possible with him.” Atsushi says fondly then starts to open the box.
Something was wrapped up in a beautiful maroon red tissue paper while a letter with his name written in beautiful calligraphy was on top of it. He smiles more when he looks at the letter and notices the dots for the I’s were hearts. “What’s that, Atsushi?” Junichiro asks whenever he walks out of Yosano’s office, surprised about the big box. “Akutagawa sent him something!” Kenji says happily with a smile, Atsushi nodding while carefully opening the letter.
He missed Ryunosuke so much and the letter only made him miss Ryunosuke more. He was confused as to what he was to be keeping safe, most likely what was wrapped up. Gently setting the letter onto his desk, Atsushi pulls out the small bundle of tissue paper, laughing softly whenever he sees something else wrapped up in tissue paper. “Oh Ryunosuke, what did you get up to?” He whispers, opening the dark red tissue paper bundle then pausing.
“He didn’t..” He whispers in awe.
Neatly folded up on the table was a very familiar black trench coat that he never thought Ryunosuke would send him. “He sent me his jacket...he never willingly takes off his coat unless he’s home.” Atsushi says as tears start to well up.
He laughs softly at the bulging pockets as tears run down his face. He removes a piece of paper sticking up from one of the coat pockets. “He got me one that looks like his...he’s so thoughtful…” He says softly after he reads the note.
He stands up and puts on the coat, smiling to himself to how perfectly it fits. “There’s something else in the box!” Kenji says happily. Atsushi nods quickly and opens the other package. He laughs happily whenever he sees it’s a large tiger plush. “I love him so much..” They whisper, hugging the plush close to his chest.
Unknown to anyone in the office, Akutagawa was watching with a small smile. He had hacked into the security camera’s to watch his lover while at work to make sure he was still safe and happy. He had been planning this care package for around a month now, but he was just waiting for the coat to be sent. “Soon, darling. I will be home soon. I love you.” He whispers more to himself as he watches his lover laugh at all the candy hidden in the package and jacket through his computer. He couldn’t help but crack a smile too while he watched.
