The door closed behind them with a click and in the next moment, Ayato had Kazuha against the door, lips hovering so close Kazuha could feel the warm breath on his own lips yet Ayato didn’t close the distance. Kazuha’s expression hadn’t changed, looking at him with a small smile and an expectant look. He raised a brow in question, silently asking Ayato what was stopping him and Ayato huffed a small laugh. Then he finally closed the distance and gently touched his lips to Kazuha’s, closing his eyes.
The bag in Kazuha’s hand dropped to the floor with a thunk as he brought his hands up, tracing them up Ayato’s arms to finally rest around his neck. At the back of his mind, Ayato thought about how when they were young, Kazuha would have to stand on the tips of his toes to do this. But after his growth spurt at the end of teenage, he could now easily wrap his arms around the other’s neck, and with how often he did just that, Ayato could he was pleased with it.
Kazuha made a small sound into the kiss and parted his lips when Ayato licked his bottom lip. The taste of strawberry mochi made his mouth taste sweet and Ayato wondered if Kazuha could taste the bitter coffee he had drunk before coming to pick him up. When they parted, Ayato placed a few light kisses on his face, Kazuha’s tinkling laugh ringing in the air at the action.
“Happy birthday,” he whispered in Kazuha’s ear, making the other pull on his hair to look at him.
“Is this my present?” Kazuha asked, mirth lacing his voice.
Ayato leaned forward, resting his forehead against his as he said, “It could be.” Kazuha tipped his chin up, meeting his lips again, this time in a slow kiss as they got used to the feeling of each other after spending time apart.
Ayato’s hand caressed his sides before slipping beneath the shirt, meeting bare skin. A shiver rippled through Kazuha’s body as he leaned into the touch. His hands left Ayato’s neck, coming down to undo the buttons of his dress shirt. When he was on the third one, Ayato broke the kiss, taking hold of one of his hands. Kazuha gave him a questioning look but soon realized what he wanted when his hand came to rest on the back of his thigh. In the next instant, he was lifted and Kazuha wrapped his legs around Ayato’s waist, leaning down to meet Ayato’s mouth once again. Ayato smiled into the kiss and sucked on Kazuha’s bottom lip, making him let out a small moan.
It was dark inside the house and Ayato didn’t bother switching on the lights, the soft glow from the streetlights outside enough for him to move around without hitting anything. Kazuha’s suitcase and bag remained forgotten near the door, he’d pick them up in the morning.
The bedroom door opened without making a sound and Ayato gently lowered Kazuha onto the bed. Leaning back, Ayato took off his shirt and helped Kazuha out of his, tracing his fingers on the exposed skin.
“Missed you,” Kazuha whispered in his ear when Ayato leaned down to place a kiss on the corner of his lips.
The words made Ayato’s lips quirk up, warmth surging inside of him as he pushed Kazuha back to lay on the bed. Crawling up, he dropped kisses on the soft skin as he moved up. The sighs and moans escaping Kazuha’s lips were all the encouragement he needed to continue what he was doing. Kazuha parted his legs for Ayato to rest between them, nails scraping skin as the taller man sucked on a sensitive spot on his neck. Even the slightest moments caused pleasure to shoot up his spine, making his breaths come out in pants.
“Are you tired?” Ayato asked him, running a hand through Kazuha’s hair while using the other one to balance himself above the younger man.
Kazuha shook his head, caressing Ayato’s jaw as he leaned up to place a light kiss on his lips. “Need you.”
And that decided it.
Later, when Kazuha was asleep, Ayato took out a small box from his discarded pants pocket. Before hiding it between the stack of papers where he knew Kazuha won’t look, he opened it to look at the brightly gleaming diamond inside it, the silver of the ring visible even in the darkness of the room.
Yes. It was the perfect gift.
