Frozen

Summary:

Wednesday freezes up on her first kiss with Enid and Enid thinks Wednesday hates her.

Notes:

Wednesday might be out of character, I have yet to fully grasp her personality. If anyone has any tips let me know.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Enid was leaning back against Wednesday’s desk, listening to the dark-haired girl present the new details she uncovered about the investigation.

“… And that’s how we discovered the creature is a Nevermore student.”

Wednesday turned to face her.

“Sinclair, are you listening?”

Enid was not listening, she stopped listening when Wednesday mentioned something about a secret passageway.

Enid was too focused on Wednesday to listen to anything the shorter girl was saying.

Before she could stop herself she was leaning in.

Enid expected her to push her away. But she didn’t, she didn’t push her away and she didn’t kiss her back. Wednesday was completely frozen.

Enid quickly pulled away when she noticed Wednesday wasn’t reacting to her kiss.

Her eyes were wide with panic, she looked terrified. She stared at the raven-haired girl in front of her.

Before she could say anything, however, Enid was already rushing out the door. It slammed shut behind her echoing throughout the dorm.

Wednesday sat in a state of shock, unable to process what had just happened.

Nothing ever surprises Wednesday, not since she was a newborn. She plans everything to a tee, with nothing out of place. She even has backup plans for her backup plans.

But what she didn’t expect was for her complete opposite of a roommate to kiss her. The worst part about this whole thing was Wednesday didn’t hate it.

That was when Wednesday came to a startling revelation.

She likes Enid and nd now Enid hates her.

Wednesday stood up and began marching out the door.

I have to find her.

The stairs were a bother to walk down, sometimes it wasn’t a good thing to live in the attic.

“Have you seen Enid?” Wednesday questioned the siren.

“Why do you care? I thought you hated her.”

There was something in her voice, a challenge and as much as Wednesday loves a challenge, now wasn’t the time.

“I don’t hate her.”

“Then what-“

Thankfully, Yoko stepped in between them.

“If you’re looking for Enid, I saw her run into the woods. She looked upset.”

Wednesday hated the implication in her voice.

Yoko took a few steps towards Wednesday, she was inches away from her. If Yoko wasn’t undead, Wednesday would’ve felt her breathe.

“If I find out you did something to her, you’ll regret it.”

“You won’t have to.” Wednesday turned and started to walk towards to woods. Then she remembered what Enid kept reminding her.
‘You should be nicer to people’.

She turned back to Yoko and Bianca.

“Thank you.”

Yoko nonchalantly shrugged, took Bianca’s hand, and walked off.

She was glad Enid had someone in her corner.

Wednesday glided towards to woods, she did not run-Addams don’t run they glide and at times they float.

The woods were wet from the rain last night. She stumbled on a small branch but didn’t fall.

There was no sight of her once bubbly roommate.

There was a footprint in the mud, not just any footprint, it looked like it belonged to a large dog.

A werewolf.

It couldn’t be Enid, she had yet to change into her wolf form. The tracks had to belong to another werewolf at the school, seeing as though the woods were the property of Nevermore Academy and any trespassers would be arrested.

It was official, she was in werewolf territory now.

A normal person would’ve turned back at the first sign of danger. Not Wednesday, if she was afraid of danger she wouldn’t be involving herself in a murder investigation.

As she walked she heard the sound of leaves cracking. She was being followed.

As quickly as she turned around, werewolves were surrounding her. She could tell they were Nevermore students based on the clothes they were wearing.

There were five of them in total, their claws and fangs were drawn.

I could take them.

The one in the middle would be the most difficult he was built like a tank.

In an instant the blonde was in front of Wednesday, her arms were shielding Wednesday from the werewolves.

“Back off, she’s with me,” Enid growled at them.

“Sorry Enid, y’know how it is, so close to the full moon and all.” The guy in the middle stated. His voice didn’t him, it was too squeaky. He sounded like a chipmunk.

“Yeah, I know.”

The werewolves retraced their claws and sharp teeth, before turning around and walking away.

“Try not to kill any wandering students.” She yelled after them.

“We will!” A voice yelled back, it was a girl this time.

Enid’s focus remain glued to the werewolves in front of them until they were out of sight.

“What was that?” Wednesday questioned.

“Werewolves are most territorial and aggressive in the days leading up to the full moon. My father said something about the aggression building up over time.”

“That makes sense.”

Enid nodded her head in agreement.

The silence was deafening on the way back.

They’d been walking for nearly five minutes and it was the most awkward thing Enid has experienced.

Say something, say something now. Come on. Enid said to herself.

It was Wednesday who broke the silence first.

“Why are you always running?” Wednesday asks.

“What?”

“You’re always running away from something, crowds, vicious murders, me.”

“I don’t like confrontation and you obviously hated the kiss. I-”

Wednesday grabbed Enid’s face to stop her from spinning out of control.

“I didn’t.”

Enid looked as confused as Wednesday felt.

“I didn’t hate it” Wednesday hesitated for a brief moment before continuing. “I also wouldn’t hate it, if you did it again.”

For a moment Enid remained silent, then finally spoke.

“You wouldn’t?” Enid’s voice remained calm, her thoughts were anything but.

“No, I wouldn’t”

With that Enid leaned in closer to Wednesday, only to be stopped by her hand.

“You have to take me on a date first.” She stated.

Enid grinned at the suggestion.

“How about tomorrow? At the carnival in town?” Enid couldn’t help but feel nervous about the whole thing.

“Only if your paying.”

“Deal.”

“I’ll see you at ten.” Wednesday turned and began walking towards the academy. ”Don’t be late.”

“I won’t.” Shouted Enid behind her, trying to keep up.
