Work Text:

We were bright light’s once,
Before we were children in war,
The we were dimmer lights,
Sharp yet still dull.

When bright lights come again,
They will know peace not war,
They will know freedom not a cage,
When bright lights come home.

We were beautiful flames once,
Our passion was a fire in our hearts,
But now it is but embers,
Only flaring when new flames come.

When little flames come again,
They will have a safe home,
They will be able to burn their own path,
When little flames come home.

We had clear minds once,
Before they were tangled in vines crimson and green,
Now parts will forever belong to pain,
Only easing in candlelit warmth.

When new minds come to be,
We will give them honesty,
Their minds will be their own,
When new minds come home.

We were children once,
But we grew up too quick,
When the others decided to use us,
And anyone who could help turned their head away.

When new children come,
We will not turn our heads,
We will not use them,
When our children come home.

We were leaders once,
Far too young to be so high,
And the others pushed us off,
But we limped along.

Our children will get to be children,
Not put up on unsteady pedestals too high,
They will be happy and free,
Not chained by expectations and demands.

We were kings and queens once,
Before the world made us pawns,
Before we had to twist and hide to be what others wanted,
Now we fear to step out of the box and be ourselves.

Our children will get to be honest,
They will not have to fear themselves,
They will not have to hide,
They will be kings and queens.

Forever and always,
We live and fight,
We kill and die,
Everything for our lights.

This we swear by blood and bone,
As the survivors of L’Manburg,
As the first children of the Dream SMP,
As child soldiers in the wars.

This we promise by sword and axe,
As children who grew up so fast,
As children that were hurt,
As children who were pawns.

Our children will not go through what we did,
Our children will be safe and happy,
Our children will be honest and free,
This we promise and swear by the life in our hearts.
