Chapter Text
It all started one late girls night, a weekly tradition that came to be after the girls realized that spending the night alone in your dorm room was actually pretty boring, and lonely. With the absence of their normal home lives, it was nice to have some form of normalcy after a hard week of hero training.
Rumor has it the boys have a guys night of their own, but none of the girls had yet ventured to confirm that suspicion.
Jirou usually hosts these nights, since it was the time they all took music lessons from her. All the girls sat in a circle while Jirou sat on her bed and faced them, pointing to the instrument of choice. This week they decided to try electric guitar.
As they continue with the lesson the girls start to talk about the random happenings at school. Mina brings up the school festival, and all the girls laugh at the idea of somebody else besides Jirou singing on stage.
“Imagine if Kirishima had done it!” Mina giggles. “I love him and all, but his voice is just all over the place.”
“Didn’t Mineta try to sing, too? That would’ve been a disaster.” Tsu croaks.
The girls shudder at the thought.
Ochako takes on a look of dreamy speculation. “I wish we could’ve seen Bakugou or Deku sing, they’re voices are probably interesting.”
Mina smirks. “You aren’t doing a great job at hiding your crush, Ochababe.”
She stiffens and her round cheeks redden. “My crush? What crush?!”
“Your crush on Midoriya,” Momo says. “Don’t you like him?”
Ochako sighs, looking at her lap. “M-maybe… I don’t know.”
“Guys, we’re getting off topic,” Tsu says. “I think it would be interesting to hear everyone sing, but Midoriya and Bakugou doing it is sort of asking for trouble.”
Jirou coughs and fidgets with her thumbs. “Not necessarily.”
“Oh, how so?” Mina asks.
“Well, if we made it a competition between the whole class instead of just them then Bakugou won’t target one person.”
“So we’re gonna do a class singing competition? Sweet!” Hagakure cheers.
Jirou shrugs. “It could be cool.”
Mina looks at Jirou with a mischievous grin. “You’re that eager to hear Bakugou sing, huh?”
“What?! No way!” Jirou shakes her head.
Ochako chuckles. “I don’t know, Jirou, you’ve been eyeing him a lot since he saved you in our training battle with Class B. It seems like you’ve grown a soft spot for him.”
“I have not!” Jirou groans. “Let’s just focus on how we’re gonna plan this singing competition.”
Mina frowns. “Ugh, fine. First things first, we gotta convince the boys to do it. The goal is to convince all of them, but our main priority will be Bakugou and Midoriya.”
“How do we do that?” Ochako asks.
Hagakure gasps. “What if we make fliers and I put them on all the boys’ doors tonight?”
“That’s a perfect idea!” Mina climbs onto Jirou’s bed, raising her fist. “Let’s do it, girlies!”
All the girls cheer and proceed to gather supplies. Separating into groups of two they sit and decorate their fliers, blasting a pop playlist in the background.
Jirou decides to work in the far corner of her room, along with Ochako.
They write ‘Class 1-A Singing Competition’ in bold lettering and surround it with a couple sketches, one of them appearing to be a tiny drawing of Bakugou beatboxing.
Ochako laughs. “Do you think he’s going to beatbox for his song?”
Jirou looks at her in confusion before realizing what she meant and quickly covers the picture.
“It’s not what you think!” Jirou stammers.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you! It’s okay to admit to liking Bakugou, we’re not going to judge you for it.”
Jirou scoffs. “Hypocrite, don’t you yell at anybody who talks about your crush on Midoriya?”
“Well yeah, but that’s only because there’s nothing I can do about it, you know?” Ochako plays with a piece of her hair. “Deku has a lot on his mind, so there’s not much time for him to worry about relationships, especially not one with me.”
Jirou sighs. “What makes you think Bakugou would have time for that?”
Ochako smiles, placing a hand on her friends shoulder. “Trust me, I’ve seen it. He cares about his friends, and he actually listens to you, in his own roundabout way.”
“I guess,” Jirou says. “Although you are wrong about one thing. Midoriya is goal oriented but he knows how to make time for people. I’m sure he’d do that for the girl he likes.”
“That’s if he even likes me,” Ochako mumbles.
Jirou pats her on the head. “Who wouldn’t like you? You’re sweet and adorable.”
Ochako laughs and reaches over to hug her.
“Thanks Jirou. I know you’re really shy, and that’s okay, but don’t let it get in the way of your happiness, alright?”
Jirou chuckles, wrapping her arms around Ochako.
“I’ll try,” she says quietly.
“Hey!”
Mina stomps over to them and inspects their flier. “Enough boy talk, if we aren’t finished with these by 12:00pm we won’t have enough energy for school tomorrow.”
Ochako sticks out her tongue at Mina. “You’re just mad we didn’t invite you to the conversation.”
Jirou rolls her eyes, letting go of Ochako to continue drawing on the flier. “Since when do you care about curfew, Mina?”
“I can care about it!” Mina protests. “Anyway, if you guys are done here then we should be ready. Your flier was the last one to finish.”
After a minute the girls all huddle together, handing their fliers to Hagakure.
“Okay guys, wish me luck!” She says, dashing out of the room with a quick spin.
“Are you sure the boys won’t be mad at us for putting these on their doors?” Momo asks.
“It’ll be fine, none of them are really stingy about stuff like that, except maybe Iida. But he’ll understand.” Tsu says reassuringly.
Jirou walks over to the bed, falling on it and rolling onto her side. “I hope so,” she sighs.
