Yuri groaned as the shape xe was laying on moved. Xe heard the voice of Balthus, “Sorry pal, just getting up for the day.” Xe groaned again and buried xemself in the pillows as Balthus chuckled above xem. Ae brushed xyr hair back, “Go back to sleep, it’s early.” Yuri grumbled and nodded, drifting back off.
Xe was awakened again a couple of hours later to the sound of Constance in the bathroom. It sounded like she was vocal training, loudly. Xe grumbled and pushed xemself out of bed, wandering to the kitchen, where Hapi was sitting. “Hey Yuri-bird, sleep well?” Xe threw her a look as xe searched for the coffee. They laughed, “I’ll take that as a no? Also, the coffee is where it always is, but B is also out on a coffee run right now so just wait a bit.”
Yuri stumbled over to sit next to her and leaned on their side. She threw an arm around xyr shoulders, “B should be back soon Mx. tired-pants.” Rolling xyr eyes, Yuri yawned, “Stayed up too late working… again.” Xe felt Hapi nod as the front door was thrown open and the two could hear Balthus yell, “I GOT COFFEE!”
Perking up, Yuri stumbled to the front door. Balthus smiled at xem as ae handed xem xyr coffee, “Heya pal, did you just get up?” Yuri nodded as xe chugged the coffee, uncaring of the hot temperature. Laughing, Balthus continued through to the kitchen, handing Hapi her own coffee with a soft kiss to the forehead. Constance came down the stairs a few seconds later, kissing Yuri on the check as she passed xem finished xyr coffee and wishing xem good morning, before continuing into the kitchen.
Constance smiled at Balthus and Hapi, “Good morning, my loves!” she proclaimed, rushing to give each a good morning kiss, before grabbing her tea from Balthus and settling next to Hapi at the counter. Yuri reentered the kitchen a moment later, much more energetic than before, and offered xyr own good mornings to Constance and Balthus, snuggling into the sweater-wrapped bulk of Balthus as they stood by the island.
The four sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, sipping their drinks (well, except for Yuri, whose mouth was miraculously only slightly burnt), which Constance broke by asking, “Do we have any plans for the day?”
Hapi shrugged, Balthus offered an “I don’t know”, and Yuri thought for a second before replying, “Yeah actually, we need to go grocery shopping, we’re running low on a lot of things. We can go once everyone’s done with their drinks and gotten ready.” There were some mumbles of assent before they went back into the sleepy silence.
Yuri was the first to move, grabbing xyr phone and going through the cabinets and fridge, typing up a shopping list, while the others mentioned things xe might’ve missed. Once xe was satisfied xe ran upstairs to grab xyr winter coat and beanie, as well as gloves, grabbing the others coats from their rooms.
When xe got back downstairs, Constance was finishing the last of her tea, Balthus and Hapi already finished. The four got bundled up and with Balthus grabbing the keys again headed out the car.
Constance was slumped against Hapi as they walked up the shoveled walk in the weak winter light, Balthus grabbing bags from the car as Yuri watched. She mumbled a complaint about being cold as Hapi fondly rolled her eyes, “The house is right there princess you’ll survive for five seconds.”
“Oh, I could never be a princess…” Constance started as she stepped into the house, trailing off. She paused for a second, “What was I saying?”
“Nothing princess, but-” they were cut off by a snowball smacking into them from behind. They slowly turned and glowered as Constance giggled behind them. Yuri was frozen, hand still extended. Hapi mock growled, “Oh you are so done Yuri-bird.”
She stepped back down onto the path and grabbed a snowball of her own, chasing Yuri all over their yard as Balthus brought the groceries inside, stopping to kiss Constance’s cheek on aers way in as she watched their partners make fools of themselves in the snow. She left after a couple minutes, ready to go warm up snuggling with Balthus on the couch (after helping to put the groceries away of course).
Yuri smirked as xe stared down at Hapi from xyr position on their back deck, a snowball in each gloved hand, “It’s over Hapi, I have the high ground!” xe cackled. Hapi rolled her eyes, dodging the two snowballs before rushing up the stairs, tackling Yuri into the snow on the deck. Xe stared up at them and leaned up to kiss them, which they sunk into before xe smirked into their lips and dumped snow down the back of their shirt. Hapi sat up with a squawk, glaring down at her smirking partner, “ Not cool Yuri-bird.” Before xe could make some joke about it being very cool, due to it being snow, she smushed xyr face into the snow xe was laying on. Leaving xem sputtering she stood, before offering a hand to xem, “Truce? It’s cold and I want to go inside.” Yuri nodded, letting xemself be yanked to xyr feet.
Balthus and Constance were awoken from their napping on the couch to a knock on the back door. Groaning, Balthus stood and went to let in their partners, who stepped in and immediately started dripping water onto the floor. Wol gave them a look, “Go get changed into dry clothes, I’ll put the kettle on.” Ays turned, “And Yuri binder off, Constance isn’t it time for your pill?” The two groaned but nodded, and all three went upstairs together.
Balthus grabbed their kettle and filled it with water, settling it on the stove before grabbing four mugs from the cabinet. A white one with “King of Grappling” scrawled on it in sharpie Yuri had made for zem from a joke last year for her, a lilac one with carefully painted wolves on it for Yuri, a black one with painted stones on it for Hapi, and a mug with the ancestral crest of Nuvelle for Constance. They grabbed four packets of cocoa powder, humming to himself as xe did, and filled each cup.
Ae’s partners came back down right as it finished, each taking their mug with a smile and a thank you kiss. The four settled on the couch, snuggled under a blanket and pulled up some movie or other to watch, just enjoying each other’s company.
