Chapter Text
Chaos reigned in the once lively and peaceful mansion, where happiness and love flourished in every part of the living space thanks to the two lovers who lived in harmony with underlings of the most notorious mafia boss of the time, not once making them inferior but rather a big family.
Where there were vases full of flowers that matched the colour scheme of the rooms, now there were only pieces of shattered pottery all over the pavement; the candles that lit up the dark mansion were all blown out or broken because of the fight that started immediately after one of the maids’ screams reported the lifeless body of a co-worker.
Unfortunately, the attack occurred so suddenly that there was little time to prepare, but that didn’t mean those that were present didn’t have some kind of weapon to protect themselves with, since they knew the type of life they got themselves into when they signed their contracts. From security guards to butlers to maids and even gardeners had some sort of weapon they could use to defend themself from danger that could arrive from anywhere even remotely impossible.
Such attacks were rare because security was tight, but despite all precautions, one of the enemies infiltrated the familia and was able to obtain as much information as possible, particularly identifying the boss’ weakness: his lover Hikarino.
Hikarino was one of the most distinguished sorcerers ever alive, his name being known and acclaimed by many thanks to his knowledgeability in different subjects such as medicine, literature, science, curses, and many more.
When Kanekuro, the young boss, heard of the attack that had started inside his mansion while he was away, he immediately turned the car back towards the once-happy place where everyone he cared about was.
Hikarino, alongside all the others inside the mansion, did their best to fight off the enemy, but sadly, one of the most astute was able to backstab the sorcerer, right in front of Kanekuro, who ran inside with a loaded pistol, shooting at everyone in sight, being mindful of his personnel.
Kanekuro immediately ran towards Hikarino’s body after shooting the enemy with no hesitation, killing him, and repeating to his beloved that everything will be alright and that he’ll get better, but both the sorcerer and the mafioso knew that it wasn’t true, since the place he was hit was a vital one even for a powerful being like Hikarino, and no matter how strong he was, there was no way out of Death’s grip.
Hikarino used his final breath to curse himself and Kanekuro so that they would be able to meet again and again in their next lives, no matter how many centuries or millennials passed; they were meant to be, and that will be true for their future reincarnations as well, no matter how they might find each other or the circumstances they will be in.
It wasn’t a love spell, since the feelings would not be sincere in that case, but it was a string spell; their souls were united together for eternity; it did not matter if their relationship wasn’t the best; all that mattered was that they would be able to meet and know each other.
Smiling one last time at his lover, Hikarino died in the arms of his beloved, who cried and screamed about how this shouldn’t have happened and how it was all his fault for being late when his people, and especially Hikarino, needed him the most.
During this heartbreaking moment, most of the commotion ended with the victory of the personnel who put up a really good fight against the people that harmed their dear sorcerer, who showed them only kindness and reassurance whenever things went the wrong way during past missions.
The survivors arrived in the room where the two lovers were only to witness one of the most tragic scenes they had ever witnessed: the death of another lady of the familia, with the lord crying desperately.
Kanekuro, even if he wished to immediately follow his lover to the afterlife, couldn’t because he was sure that Hikarino would scold him since he still had so many duties he was responsible for that he had to take care of within the familia; so as the days, weeks, months and years of his life until its end, the sorcerer has never left the mafia boss’ mind, even in the most stressful and enervating moments.
Many lives were taken during the later years of his “reign,” since there was no one who was able to stop his violent episodes like Hikarino did.
One of the worst times when Kanekuro’s violence was at its highest was when something remotely negative was uttered about his late lover; no one could stop or hide, in case you were the culprit, from being shot in the head with no hesitation or remorse.
Kanekuro welcomed Death with open arms and couldn’t wait to see his loved ones in the afterlife on the day his life ended, so when one of the most trusted personnel entered the room where the boss was and saw how his face had returned to peace after so many years, they understood that the “reign” had ended and their leader could finally rest after years of suffering in this world alone, with no one he loved by his side.
This is how Shu Yamino, a normal person, awoke from his sleep with eyes filled with sorrowful tears and an ache coming in his heart. This isn’t a daily occurrence, but dreams of a certain black-haired boy began when he was very young, but whenever he tried to remember his face, he couldn’t find any distinguishing features that he could see in other peoples' faces, so he gave up actively searching for this person since he started doubting himself in imagining scenes where sorcery invaded his mind during middle school years.
After regaining control of himself, Shu decided to get out of bed and begin the routine that would last until the end of the semester, as classes began for the last time for him. He didn’t particularly mind going to classes since he would be able to meet up with his friends more often than he did during vacations, even if they didn’t share the same classes.
