Lily Evans ran over to where Remus was and embraced him in a big hug immediately, making sure that Severus saw. Their fifth year was a lot for all of them, with .. the prank, and Lily's falling out with Severus. Now that it was the beginning of their sixth year, all eyes were on them. Were the friends still together? Would that year of student interactions completely alter? The answer was yes and no. The marauders didn't fall apart, they just combined strengths with the girls, the dancing queens as they called themselves. The main difference between all of them was that no one had to convince Lily to stop being friends with Sniffulus anymore. Oh, and that Dorcas and Marlene started to date in the summer.
"Lils!" Remus laughed and hugged her back. He knew she was overexaggerating the hug to get the attention of a certain Slytherin but he didn't mind. He got an even bigger one the week before when all of them ACTUALLY met up for the first time that Summer. Their schedules were all over the place so the eight of them never got to spend time all together, just in smaller groups. It felt great to be in the Potter's Estate with all of his friends. It brought hope to the future and helped him forget what happened the year before. He had told the group that he was a werewolf all the day before leaving Hogwarts, in case Severus decided to find a way to tell others in the school making it Remus's last time with all of them in the castle. Luckily, that never occurred and he was back at Hogwarts, but he was still cautious.
"No hugs for us? I'm hurt Evans" a voice said behind the two prefects. They both turned around to find a smiling Marlene McKinnon with her arms crossed. Next to her stood Dorcas Meadows who just rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's antics.
"Hey girls" Lily said walking over and hugging the two close.
"Hi Lily, Hi Remus" Dorcas said squeezing her gently and then going over and hugging Remus. "Where's the rest of the-" she said and then heard a ping coming from her phone. "I guess we will find out.

An arrange of replies came from the group. "Thanks Effie!" "I've already started the letter!" "We Love you Effie!" "Please date me Effie!"
As they said goodbye to Fleamont and all of the other parents there, the eight started to walk towards the Hogwarts Express together. "Aw Prongs, loosen up a bit would ya? The worst-case scenario is one of these lovely ladies ends up becoming your new mom!"

"So Moony," Sirius said wrapping his arm around Remus's shoulders, "How excited are you for another year of being a prefect?"
Moony looked at Sirius like he might kill him but instead said "how excited are you for having a full year of not being allowed on the quidditch team". To that Peter spit out his water and Sirius froze with his mouth open. Moony simply shrugged and kept walking.
Sirius quickly caught up and poked his shoulder. “I’m doing just fine, thank you very much.” He sighed, wondering if being in love with him really was worth it. “How’s Hope doing?” Sirius asked, completely ignoring what just happened.
Remus, who also happened to have a crush on a certain one of his friends, looked up at Sirius and shrugged. “She’s fine. She's worried about the war but, it'll be fine."
Sirius put his hands in his pocket and nodded. "Cool" he said.
Remus kept looking at him and replied. "Cool."

"STOP SAYING COOL" Peter yelled.
Sirius and Remus glanced at each other with a knowing look before continuing.
“Fine”

“OH MY GOD” Peter yelled again and stormed off to find James again, who was a bit in front of them. As soon as he reached him though, Mary turned back and started walking backwards as Lily, Marlene, and Dorcas entered the train.
“HEY GUYS YOU ARE SLOW COME ON,” Mary yelled as she stepped backwards onto the train herself.
James called out from the train “I agree with Mary, Come on you lot, hop to it, we’ve got a compartment to claim!”
Sirius sighed and called out “Not all of us go on obnoxious morning runs JAMES!”. They both entered the train and looked at the other six all standing looking at the compartment.
“So.. how are we all going to fit in one compartment? Is that even allowed?” Lily asked and looked at the others who mostly just shrugged.
“Where there is a will there is a way,” Sirius said pushing through the crowd and sitting down.
The whole group looked at each other and started to fight their way into the compartment. “Got it!’ Lily exclaimed as she secured her seat next to the window. Mary quickly sat next to her and Marlene and Dorcas filed in across, Marlene at the window. James sat across from Sirius and next to Mary leaving a standing Peter and Remus with nowhere to go.
James glanced at Peter with a smug look on his face and grabbed his hand gently. “You know you’ve always wanted to,” he said as he scooped the upset-looking Peter onto his lap.
Sirius smirked at Remus as the werewolf shook his head. “Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope.”
“Oh, come on Moony, you’ll be fine. Promise I don’t bite,” Sirius laughed and held out a hand.
“Nuh-uh, no way,” Remus said and begrudgingly sat down on Sirius’ lap.
After a little while of looking out the window, Lily checked her phone and realized that the prefect meeting was about to start. “C’mon Remus, time to go,” she said, standing up and shooting an unnecessary pointed look at James.
Remus, who had just finally gotten ‘comfortable’ stood up and waved an awkward goodbye to Sirius before leaving without a word, Lily following close behind. “We’ll be back soon ladies and Peter,” she said and headed off.

“Welcome Back” Marlene said when the two prefects came back from the meeting and the rounds Remus was inevitably dragged on. They had sent a message to the group chat in advance to let them know they would be there soon. And to buy some chocolate frogs for them.
“Than- nope.” Lily said as her eyes scanned the current seating arrangement in the crowded compartment. On her left sat Mary, Peter, and James. On her right sat Marlene, Dorcas, and Sirius. She looked at Mary and started walking towards her as Marlene put her legs up on her lap.
Mary looked at Lily with a small smile, “Sorry Lils, seats taken."
Lily clenched her fists and walked over to sit on Dorcas's lap but found that Dorcas had completely laid down with her head on her girlfriend's lap and her legs on Sirius's. Remus stifled a laugh as Lily quickly looked back at him. "You think this is funny Lupin? " She exclaimed angrily.
Remus just shrugged and sat down on Peters's lap. "Hey Pete, how's your day been so far?"
Lily looked at all of them and then at the beaming James and then at all of them again. "Fuck. you. All" she said before sitting down on James's lap. As much as she would never admit it, she wasn't mad about it. She was quite happy actually. But she was also in denial. James wrapped his arms around her looking like he might burst with joy. Lily held back a smile but Remus saw and stifled another laugh.

Remus looked at Lily as he slowly turned red and then looked completely forward before looking back at his phone.

Remus glanced over at Sirius who gave a small nod. With that nod, the plan was set in motion in almost a blink of an eye. Remus got up and as soon as he did Mary put her legs on Peter's lap. Lily started to lift herself off of James’s lap but the others worked faster. Marlene quickly pulled Dorcas into her lap, taking her feet off Mary, and Dorcas moved her legs so there would be room for Remus. Remus and Sirius looked at each other and before they could think to do anything James simply held Lily closer to himself. “I Hate you all” she mumbled.
Mary smiled sweetly and replied “sure you do darling”.
After a while, everyone seemed to calm down and Remus drifted off to sleep, feeling incredibly exhausted with the approaching full moon only seven days away. Sirius glanced over at Remus again, feeling the weight of something on his shoulder. As the crowded compartment spoke excitedly, traded chocolate frog cards, threw food at each other, and more, Sirius couldn’t help but only focus on the boy breathing steadily against him. With Remus asleep beside him, he was sure that Lily Evans killing him later would be completely and utterly worth it.
