until you set your old heart free

Summary:

Simon Blackquill is a very shy man.

Though, no one can tell with his cold façade he puts on. In prison he didn't show any weakness– he couldn't, or he'd be a target. In the outside world, it's far more comfortable letting people into his life. Besides, he doesn't need anyone other than his current friends. He's perfectly fine with his small circle.

However, quite recently, someone else came into his life. Someone who, despite knowing him for little over a year, had given him so much love his heart may as well shatter.

or,

5 times Nahyuta looks out for Simon, and one time Simon does the same.

Notes:

Chapter Text

“Now, Panda, why are you still awake?”

Simon murmurs something under his breath, as he looks up from his desk to see Nahyuta leaning on the door frame, wearing his night clothes with what seems to be a mug in his hand.

“Working on paperwork, Sad Monk. Why are you still awake?”

“Sleep doesn’t seem to approve of me.” He replies, walking toward Simon.

On closer inspection, he seems to have heavy eye bags under his eyes, and a tired but happy look on his face. His hair in a loose braid, and without his main attire, he looks like a completely different person.

Butterflies rise in his stomach thinking about how he gets to see the real side of him. Shown only for him to see, the whole him. Simon's expression softens as he looks at his boyfriend. Smitten with love, a smile forming on his face.

“You’re staring.”

Simon's cheeks going (more) flush, he gives him a glare to try to distract himself from the overwhelming warmness in his heart.

Nahyuta lightly chuckles. Placing the mug he was holding next to his paperwork. He sits down on the couch behind him, as Simon takes the time to calm down his racing heart.

He turns around to face Nahyuta, giving him the signal that he’s calmed down. His other just smiles warmly and begins to talk.

“And the tea is for you, love. I know you’ll be up for a bit more, so I'd rather you be hydrated than suffering.”

“Glad I have you to be my personal doctor, Sad Monk.”

“My pleasure, Panda.”

As Simon watches Nahyuta get up to presumably leave, he instead goes close to Simon, cupping his cheek, and gently kisses his forehead. Though it was brief, it leaves him flustered and yearning for more all the same.

Nahyuta, seeming to be as red as him, silently makes an exit for the door, stopping as he hears Simon.

“Wait.”

“Yes?”

“I love you, Nahyuta.”

A smile creeps up to his face, as big and as bubbly as it can be.

“I love you too, Simon.”
