Chapter Text
The differences between myself and the Shoto Todoroki of cannon are numerous for all that I now live in his body. I do not protest Endeavor's training when I get my quirk. I had been hoping to activate it when alone, but I have no such luck. Instead, I am separated from the siblings I had once enjoyed the company of and the mother that I didn't care for at the age of 4.
We spend all day 'training' if you want to call it that. I should be focusing on controlling my quirk not making it more powerful, but Endeavor focuses on pushing my limits. I should be getting used to physical exercise in a way safe for a toddler by running, stretching, and perhaps the basics of throwing a punch or kick. Hitting a child until they throw up in no way is training. It's simply an excuse to abusive a child and my hatred for the man that calls himself my father is greater than any I've felt before in this life or my previous one.
At night, I lay in bed exhausted and try to summon ice on my arm. I have a plan, but most nights I fall asleep too swiftly to work on it. In the morning I am up before the sun, as ready as I will ever be to face the monster that lives in my house. This repeats for a year and I make progress both in expanding my flames and ice, dodging Endeavor's hits and forming a weak blade on my right arm.
The women that cannon Shoto Todoroki loved is not doing well. She is always crying and I avoid her whenever I can. Being a woman myself once I don't understand how she agreed to marry someone that didn't love her. How she stayed after being hit the first time. How in the world could she allow a man to hurt her children without at least trying to kill the bastard? She is so different from me that the only answer I can give myself is that it must be because she is disgustingly weak. Weak willed and weak-minded. I don't trust her not to snap and hurt her own children. I'm never alone in the kitchen with her.
When I'm 5 she does snap and tries to leave in the dead of night. She makes the mistake of trying to gather 4 children together at once who has no idea what's going on and walking out. She has no real plan for all that she waited far too long to do this. We get as far as the driveway and it's the angriest I've ever seen Endeavor. After he breaks her jaw and my oldest brother attacks him with blue flame that hurts him more than it does Endeavor. The rest of us are ordered back to the house. Mother returns from the hospital a day later. My oldest brother Touya never comes back.
I'm almost 6 when I believe my blade is good enough. The Ice holds its shape. It's sharp enough to cut skin. I'm a little worried about the strength in my arm, but I don't want to wait anymore. I pretend to be sick that day. I fake passing out during training and Endeavor is forced to let me rest instead. The woman tries to baby me while I'm sick, but I'm not impressed with her efforts and tell her to leave. My sister Fuyumi comes and I let her read to me. She's nice and doesn't deserve such horrible parents. I spend the day in bed, resting. That night I'm wide awake.
I've never seen so much blood. I always assumed it would bother me, but it doesn't. I expected a horrible gurgling sound as he woke and tried to scream, but the blade went into the flesh of his throat almost silently. He opened his eyes and looked at me. They were pretty eyes, too beautiful a blue for such an evil man. He died seeing me smile at him for the first time.
The differences between myself and the Shoto Todoroki of cannon are numerous for I have no intentions of being a victim. Will I be a hero or a villain? Who knows? If I can avoid being sent to jail for this maybe I'll be an accountant. All I know for sure is that I decide my life, not a sorry excuse for a hero that never deserved a family.
