Magic as an energy, as an ethereal power source is considered to not have an origin. If it did, it would be when the universe itself came into being, this also includes the voids abyssal energy. Magic is a type of energy that permeates everything, it is in the air, in the ground, inside you! This however comes with limitations, since magic is everywhere, it must be distributed everywhere. In many situations, the magic, commonly called "mana", is so diluted that you cannot utilize it.
No one is sure about the official beginnings of using magic, some believe that since magic began with time, the usage of magic also began around then. Some time later, people became divided into two groups, on who could use magic, and one that couldn't. The mages believed that since they had been given power, they should rule over people. On the other hand, the people without believed that since the mages had received power they had the duty to protect others. Over time this debate grew into all out warfare. To deal with this, the most powerful mages and the smartest people came together to make a solution. The only solution that they could come up with was separating the mages and the people. To do this, the scientists made a machine that would gather the mana for the spell, and the mages would build the spell and hold it together. To make sure that there would be no conflict once the people were separated they cast a second spell that would bury the memories. In order to keep this all in place the twelve people in on this plan created a council to watch over these worlds. They made a home in the void between worlds, they moved their planet there, a place called "Illeria." As time passed, seeing so many worlds come and go, the council decided that they needed to bring forth a new generation. These beings were called "Watchers". It was their job to observe the worlds and find outstanding individuals who could be trained to take over in time. The frequency at which these individuals popped up were few and far in between, due to the millennium spent in the void, the Watchers began to go insane. They were banished, the first generation decided to take the new people and bring many of them to Illeria. They would be trained and tested to come up with a new generation. The new people brought life to Illeria and lived on in the void. A few years after this, a problem was discovered. The spell that sent people to other worlds had forged a connection between these worlds, people were getting glimpses of other worlds and writing about them. Thankfully a solution was proposed by an apprentice, "If they write it in a style that doesn't align with their world, then just make a category about it where everything in that category is considered to be fanciful and fictional, then the people will know of it and believe that it is false." The name for this type of story originated from R. J. Fantasy, the apprentice who came up with the idea.
