Second Best by Stormpill lives rent free in my head constantly so this is where I will keep any ideas/prompts. I love pairing Alina with Nikolai in the AU so if that's not your thing, you've been warned. Please if anyone would like to adopt any of these I would be so grateful!

Notes:

So I just finished season 2 and I'm still internally screaming at all the Nikolina content they gave us. The chemistry between Jessie and Paddy was everything I could have ever wanted. Anyway, the scene when we find out about Sturmhond being the one responsible for orchestrating The Crows kidnapping Alina got me thinking of Second Best, because everything makes me thing of Second Best, and so this happened.

Set in the Second Best AU: The Crows are successful in capturing Alina Starkov during the Winter Fete but before they can deliver her to Dreesden, the ship they are on to take them back to Ketterdam is set upon by the Volkvolny. Plans go awry and they find out who actually hired them in the first place.

Or what if: Alina had a tryst with a fellow First Army soldier named Kolya before she found out she was the Sun Summoner, was whisked off to the Little Palace, seduced and manipulated by Aleksander then discarded when Svetlana showed up but Kolya never forgot about her and hires The Crows to rescue her from The Darkling.
