Work Text:
Peter and Jason sat on the single blue blanket in the middle of an alleyway. An alleyway they called home.
At this very moment a 11 year old Jason was trying to hold down a 7 year old Peter.
"Stop wiggling," Jason said through gritted teeth.
"No," Peter whined out.
"This will make you feel a bit better," Jason tries to reason with him.
"I feel fine," Peter snapped.
A few more seconds of this happened before a whimper slipped past Peter's lips.
"Am I hurting you?" Jason asked, releasing his hold a bit.
"A little," Peter replied.
Jason moved off Peter as the little boy sat up and rubbed at his arm where Jason was holding him.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you," Jason said, honestly.
"It's okay. I can heal fast," Peter reminded him.
"Yeah I know," Jason pouted, "between you and Loki I'm starting to feel left out."
"And why is that?" Speak of the Devil.
Jason and Peter didn't flinch at the voice. They were used to Loki sneaking around.
"You and Peter having powers. I have nothing," Jason pouted.
Peter threw himself at Jason.
"But you have the power of being the best big brother," Peter pointed.
A gasp left Loki, he grabbed his chest.
"Oh, Peter, you wound me," Loki said dramatically.
"If it helps just before he wasn't the best big brother," Peter pointed out.
"And why is that?" Loki asked.
"He was forcing me to eat," Peter pouted.
"Because you need to eat," Jason told him, "it will make you feel better and not like you are starving."
Peter stared at Jason, his brown eyes widening in almost puppy eyes.
"But there isn’t enough for all of us," Peter told him.
Of course, Peter would be more concerned about his big brothers eating even though he was only 7 and needed the food more.
"Why don't you and Jason split it. I do not need food often like mortals," Loki told them.
"You sure?" Jason asked.
"I am sure."
Jason grabbed the small roll of bread and pulled it apart. Giving the half with the most to Peter. Peter wasn't going to eat it right away though. He was just staring at Jason and Jason knew that Peter wanted to see him take a bite to know that Jason would eat it.
Jason took a bite, making sure that Peter saw him do it. When Jason swallowed his mouthful, Peter happily bit into his.
Loki sat on the blanket with them. His stomach gnawed at itself with hunger. Loki placed a hand on his belly. He lied, he needed food like normal but if he said that then his younger brothers wouldn’t eat.
Not paying attention so it was a surprise when two small hands went into his view with at least 2 bites of two pieces of bread in their hands.
"Loki, we know you are hungry. Just eat it," Jason told him.
"We don't want you to starve," Peter added.
Loki smiled and let out a sigh. Grabbing the two small pieces of bread, Loki placed both his mouth and at them.
They relaxed afterwards. Loki grabbed the newspaper that was kept hidden but his green jacket.
"Can we have the comic that comes in it?" Peter asked.
Loki pulled it out and gave it to Peter. Jason moved over to have a look at it with Peter.
Loki skimmed over the newspaper not really reading anything, until a photo of a man caught his eye. He almost looked like a genie, with his colourful clothes, beard and cape.
"He looks like a genie," Jason spoke up.
"And look at that name Dr Strange. He must be a genie,"Peter added, "we should go and see him. He can grant us three wishes."
The oldests, agreeing that this was a good idea, they headed to the library to see where Doctor Strange lived.
"Woah! This genie must be famous. He has a whole website about him," Jason pointed out.
It was true, there was so much information about him but they skipped over all just to find where this genie lived.
177A Bleecker Street was the address that came up. They finally had a chance at a different life.
Logging out of the computer Loki got up.
"Do we need anything?" He asked.
Peter and Loki shook their heads.
Grabbing their hands Loki thought of the address and began to teleport.
Stephen was just minding his own business when he heard knocking on the Sanctum Sanctorum's door. Stephen let out a tired sigh, it was never good when someone needed him. It was between a waste of his time or just being a lot trouble for him.
Opening the door, Stephen spotted three young boys standing on his doorstep looking at him as if he held the world in his palms.
Stephen shut the door and then opened it again expecting the boys to be gone. Instead they were still standing there.
"May I help you?" He asked.
"I am Loki. These are my brothers. Peter and Jason. We have come for our three wishes," Loki explained.
"What?" Stephen asked, confused.
"We know you are a genie. So give them to us," the one called Jason snapped.
Stephen couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was a genie, he is a Sorcerer supreme and also Master of mystic arts. How can someone even compare him to a genie was beyond him.
"I'm not a genie. I am a Sorcerer," Stephen explained. He wasn't going to go into details. The kids probably wouldn't understand it anyway.
"You won't grant us wishes then?" Peter asked, his eyes now wide with sadness.
"I don't do that. But if I did, what would you wish for?" Stephen couldn't help but ask.
They looked at each other before Loki stepped forward.
"We only want one and that's for someone to actually care about us," Loki explained.
That hit Stephen hard in the chest. At that Stephen could work out the kids were homeless and he couldn't just kick them back to the street.
Opening the door wider he welcomed them in.
"You are welcome to stay here until we work out a permanent solution for the three of you," Stephen told them.
Loki, Jason and Peter walked in. They couldn't believe their luck. First he tells them he wasn’t a genie but invited them in to stay. Maybe the wish worked and they found someone that will finally care about them.
THE END
